Communication method and apparatus

Abstract

This application discloses a communication method and apparatus, relating to the field of communications technologies, and is used to accurately indicate a newly added combination of modulation and coding scheme (MCS) and number of spatial streams (NSS) supported by a communications node. The method includes: obtaining first indication information used to indicate an MCS and NSS combination supported by a first node, and sending the first indication information. The MCS and NSS combination includes a first MCS and NSS combination and a second MCS and NSS combination. The first MCS in the first MCS and NSS combination is an MCS under the first generation technology, and the second MCS in the second MCS and NSS combination is a newly added MCS relative to the first MCS.
