Abstract
Description
Fall arrestor structure A fall arrestor, particularly a fall arrestor structure that does not suffer from changes in the roughness of the friction surface due to wear and tear of the metal surface after friction between the compression spring and the metal friction surface, nor from loss of the set pressure. In many high-altitude work environments or other locations with fall hazards, such as ladders, scaffolding, bridges, power towers, high towers, and aerial cranes, various laws mandate the installation of fall arrest systems, such as safety mains and fall arresters, to provide workers with greater safety and protection. A conventional safety main is vertically installed on the aforementioned object and includes a fall arrester that moves up and down along it. Workers connect their tethers or fall arrestor packs to this fall arrester. This prevents further falls in the event of a fall while working at height or moving vertically. However, conventional fall arresters installed on a safety main cable only have one cable slot for the safety main cable to pass through. The fall arrester is then secured to the safety main cable via a manual or automatic locking mechanism. Therefore, when some safety main cables are missing fall arresters or when fall arresters need to be removed or replaced, one end of the safety main cable must be untied to remove or install the fall arrester, causing inconvenience in installation and disassembly. Furthermore, conventional fall arresters usually require personnel to move to a certain height to operate the locking mechanism to secure the fall arrester to the safety main cable. If personnel forget to operate the locking mechanism, the fall arrester will lose its function. Therefore, how to improve the shortcomings of conventional fall arresters is an issue that needs to be actively overcome. This invention provides a fall arrestor structure having a falling rotation mode and a locked stationary mode. The fall arrestor structure includes a first outer shell, a roller base, a first bracket, a first washer, a brake pad, a brake disc, a second washer, a compression spring, a nut, a second outer shell, a second bracket, a ratchet stop structure, and a hanging component. The roller base includes a sleeve and a spindle. The brake disc includes a first fixing member, a first stop pawl, a first spring, a second fixing member, a second stop pawl, and a second spring. The first outer shell has a first receiving space. The roller base is disposed within the first receiving space of the first outer shell, and has a insertion hole at its center. The sleeve has its top inserted through and engaged with the insertion hole, and has an inner groove at its center. The spindle is inserted into and installed in the inner groove, and serves as the central axis for rotation of the roller base. The first bracket has one end disposed between the bottom of the first outer shell and the sleeve, and its other end exposed outside the first outer shell. A first washer is fitted onto the sleeve at its center. A brake pad is fitted onto the sleeve at its center and located above the first washer. A brake disc is fitted onto the sleeve at its center and located above the brake pad. A first fixing member is fixed to the brake disc. A first stop pawl has a first weight at one end and is fixed to the brake disc, and a first rotating support is fixed to the brake disc at its center. A first spring has one end connected to the first fixing member and the other end connected to the other end of the first stop pawl. A second fixing member is fixed to the brake disc and located on the opposite side of the first fixing member. A second stop pawl has a second weight at one end and is fixed to the brake disc, and a second rotating support is fixed to the brake disc at its center. A second spring has one end connected to the second fixing member and the other end connected to the other end of the second stop pawl. A second washer, its center fitted onto the sleeve and positioned above the brake disc. A compression spring, its center fitted onto the sleeve and positioned above the second washer. A nut, mounted on the top of the sleeve. A second housing, having a second receiving space. A second bracket, one end of which is fixed to the second receiving space, and the other end exposed outside the second housing. A ratchet stop structure, having multiple stops, mounted and fixed to one end of the second bracket. A hanging member, connected to the other end of the first bracket and the other end of the second bracket. When the roller base rotates under external force, the brake disc also rotates, causing the first and second stop pawls to continuously open due to centrifugal force until they engage with the ratchet stop structure, bringing the roller base to a stop. Afterwards, the first and second stop pawls retract under the restoring forces of the first and second springs, respectively. In one embodiment of the present invention, the falling rotation mode refers to the mode in which the roller base rotates under external force. In one embodiment of the present invention, the locking and stationary mode refers to the mode in which the first stop pawl and the second stop pawl are continuously opened due to centrifugal force until they are locked with the ratchet baffle structure, thereby making the roller base stationary. In one embodiment of the present invention, during the descent, the roller base switches between the descent rotation mode and the engagement stationary mode to moderate the descent speed. In one embodiment of the present invention, the first housing and the second housing are connected through a plurality of fasteners. In one embodiment of the present invention, when the roller base rotates under external force, there is a braking force between the metal friction surface of the brake pad and the brake disc, wherein the hardness of the metal friction surface of the brake disc is greater than the hardness of the brake pad. In one embodiment of the present invention, when the roller base rotates under external force, there is a frictional braking force between the compression spring and the metal friction surface of the brake disc, wherein the hardness of the metal friction surface of the brake disc is greater than the hardness of the compression spring. In summary, the fall arrestor structure disclosed in this invention can bring the following benefits: 1. Effectively slows down the falling speed; 2. Prevents wear and tear on the metal surface, which would cause the roughness of the friction surface to change due to the friction process; and 3. Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of the fall arrestor structure of the present invention. Figure 5 is a schematic diagram of the operation of the brake disc and ratchet baffle structure within the fall arrestor structure of the present invention. Figure 6 is another schematic diagram of the operation of the brake disc and ratchet baffle structure within the fall arrestor structure of the present invention. When the roller base 102 is rotated by an external force, the brake disc 106 will also rotate accordingly, causing the first stop pawl 1062 and the second stop pawl 1065 to continue to open due to centrifugal force until they are locked with the baffle 112A of the ratchet baffle structure 112, further bringing the roller base 102 to a standstill. Afterward, the first stop pawl 1062 and the second stop pawl 1065 are retracted by the restoring force of the first spring 1063 and the second spring 1066, respectively. It is worth mentioning that the first weight 1062A functions as the center of gravity of the first stop pawl 1062, and the second weight 1065A functions as the center of gravity of the second stop pawl 1065. This facilitates the opening or swinging of the first and second stop pawls 1062 and 1065 when they are subjected to centrifugal force. It should be noted that the downward rotation mode refers to the mode in which the roller base 102 rotates under external force. The engaging stationary mode refers to the mode in which the first and second stop pawls 1062 and 1065 continue to open due to centrifugal force until they engage with the ratchet baffle structure 112, thus bringing the roller base 102 to a standstill. Therefore, in this invention, when a person using the fall arrestor structure 100 is accidentally falling, the roller base 102 continuously switches between the falling rotation mode and the engaged stationary mode to slow down the person's fall speed and allow them to land safely and smoothly on the ground. Accordingly, when working at heights, a person can be equipped with a fall arrestor structure 100 including a safety belt, which is fixed to a support, with the safety belt fastened to the person's body, preventing further falls and ensuring the person's safety. It is worth mentioning that the person can pull the safety belt of the fall arrestor beforehand; the vibration generated when the normally open ratchet pivots indicates that the normally open ratchet is not locked, thus confirming that the fall arrestor structure can operate normally. Furthermore, when the roller base 102 is subjected to external force... When rotating, a braking force is generated between the metal friction surfaces of the brake pad 105 and the brake disc 106, wherein the hardness of the metal friction surface of the brake disc 106 is greater than the hardness of the brake pad 105. When the roller base 102 rotates under external force, a frictional braking force is generated between the compression spring 108 and the metal friction surface of the brake disc 106, wherein the hardness of the metal friction surface of the brake disc 106 is greater than the hardness of the compression spring 108. In summary, the fall arrestor structure disclosed in this invention can bring the following benefits: 1. Effectively slows down the falling speed; 2. Prevents wear and tear on the metal surface, which would cause the roughness of the friction surface to change due to the friction process; and 3. Prevents loss of the set pressure due to friction between the compression spring and the metal friction surface. The above description is merely a preferred embodiment of the present invention and is not intended to limit the scope of the invention. Therefore, all equivalent variations or modifications made in accordance with the features and spirit described in the claims of this invention should be included within the scope of the patent application of this invention. 100: Fall arrester structure; 101: First outer shell; 101S: First accommodating space; 102: Roller base; 102h: Insert; 1021: Sleeve; 1021S: Inner groove; 1022: Spindle; 103: First bracket; 104: First gasket; 105: Brake pad; 106: Brake disc; 1061: First fixing member; 1062: First stop pawl; 1062A: First weight; 1062B: First rotating support; 1063: First spring; 1064: Second fixing member; 1065: Second stop pawl; 1065A: Second weight; 1065B: Second rotating support; 1066: Second spring; 107: Second gasket; 108: Compression spring; 109: Nut; 110: Second outer shell; 110S: Second accommodating space; 111: Second bracket; 112: Ratchet baffle structure; 112A: Baffle; 113: Hanging member; FT: Fixing member.
