Abstract
This invention relates to a phosphate-based glass having a pair of opposing main faces, wherein at least one main face contains P, Al, and R (R: Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) as glass constituents. Regarding the ratio comp, expressed in moles (%) based on oxides and represented by {Al₂O₃ / (ΣR₂O+ΣR'O)} (R': Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn), when the maximum value of the above ratio in the glass surface layer is compT, and the above ratio in the basic composition is compB, the ratio represented by {compT / compB} exceeds 1.0.
