Abstract
This invention can form a liquid crystal alignment film with excellent impurity resistance and obtain a liquid crystal element exhibiting good liquid crystal alignment and high voltage retention. This invention also provides a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal alignment film, a polymer, and a diamine. A liquid crystal alignment agent comprises a polymer (P) having at least one partial structure (A) selected from the group consisting of partial structures represented by formula (A) and partial structures represented by formula (B). In formulas (A) and (B), R1, R2, R3, and R4 are independently hydrogen atoms or monovalent organic groups. "*" indicates a bond. The three "*" in formula (A) and the two "*" in formula (B) are bonded to different atoms.
