Abstract
This disclosure provides methods and compositions for deactivating the glutamic acid synthase (GS) gene. It provides engineered zinc finger DNA-binding domains to bind to the GS gene and fusion proteins comprising both the zinc finger DNA-binding domain and a cleavage domain. Methods for deactivating GS in cells or cell lines using zinc finger proteins and their fusions are also provided.
