Abstract

A thermal architecture for a switching power supply includes a transformer, a front-end circuit, a power-end circuit, at least one cooling fan, a plurality of temperature sensors, and a temperature control module. One of the temperature sensors corresponding to the front-end circuit senses the temperature of the front-end circuit to provide a first temperature control factor, and another of the temperature sensors corresponding to the power-end circuit senses the temperature of the power-end circuit to provide a second temperature control factor. The temperature control module controls the rotational speed of the at least one cooling fan based on the first and second temperature control factors, wherein the first temperature control factor causes the rotational speed of the at least one cooling fan to be greater than or equal to 0, and the second temperature control factor causes the rotational speed of the at least one cooling fan to be less than or equal to 1.
