Traffic signal control system and method

Abstract

A traffic signal control method includes: identifying a type of a vehicle object on a first road and a moving speed of the vehicle object according to a plurality of images, wherein a first traffic signals on the first road displays a yellow light at the first time point, a second traffic signals on a second road changes from displaying a red light to displaying a green light at the second time point and the first road intersects the second road to form a intersection; judging that the vehicle object may run a red light based on the type of the vehicle object and the moving speed; judging that the vehicle object has not pass through the intersection at the second time point based on the moving speed; and extending a red light period of the second traffic signals.
