Method and apparatus implementable in a second access point

Abstract

A second access point (AP) participates in coordinated beamforming (CoBF) multi-access point (MAP) operations in a CoBF MAP coordinated (MAPC) group comprising a first AP and the second AP. The second AP also communicates with one or more stations (STAs) associated with the second AP including at least first and second STAs. The first AP functions as a sync reference and the second AP functions as a sync follower in the CoBF MAP operations. The first STA, but not the second STA, also participates in the CoBF MAP operations with the first AP. In communicating with the one or more STAs, the second AP obtains an in-basic service set (in-BSS) channel state information (CSI) from the first STA and performs CoBF and / or a downlink (DL) multi-user (MU) multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmissions to at least one STA of the one or more STAs by using or reusing the stored in-BSS CSI.
