Abstract

The adaptive equalizer is configured to equalize a signal. The processor is configured to estimate a gain correction, which compensates for attenuation of the equalized signal by the equalizer due to noise present in the signal. The decoder is configured to decode the equalized signal. At least one of (i) equalization of the signal by the adaptive equalizer and (ii) decoding of the equalized signal by the decoder, is based on the gain correction.
