Shortened trigger message for contention-based ambient internet-of-things access

Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first wireless communications device may receive, from a second wireless communications device, a first trigger message that is associated with a first type of trigger message and indicates a set of trigger messages, each associated with a second type of trigger message, wherein each trigger message of the set of trigger messages corresponds to at least one transmission occasion. The first wireless communications device may receive a second trigger message that is associated with the second type of trigger message, in association with the second trigger message being selected from the set of trigger messages. The first wireless communications device may transmit an access message via a transmission occasion corresponding to the selected trigger message associated with the second type of trigger message.
