Abstract

A semiconductor device includes a substrate, a semiconductor pattern on the substrate extending in a first direction parallel to an upper surface of the substrate, a word line on the semiconductor pattern extending in a second direction intersecting the first direction, a bit line connected to one end of the semiconductor pattern and extending in a third direction perpendicular to the upper surface of the substrate, and a data storage element connected to the other end of the semiconductor pattern. The bit line includes a first portion connected to the semiconductor pattern and a second portion extending in the first direction from the first portion. A width of the first portion in the second direction is greater than a width of the second portion in the second direction. The configuration of the bit line provides a sufficient contact area with the semiconductor pattern and reduces electrical coupling between adjacent bit lines.
