Secure footwear having open heel and toe-post

Abstract

A footwear piece having an open heel and toe-post is described. The footwear piece, which may generally be in the form of, e.g., a clog, includes a sole portion and an upper portion extending over the front portion of the sole portion to form and define a toe box region. A toe-post extends through the toe box region from the sole portion to the upper portion. When in use, the toe-post may reside between the grand toe and index toe of a user. The footwear piece is free of any type of heel restraint mechanism, include a heel restraint mechanism that is moveable, pivotable, or removable. The footwear piece may be made from lightweight foam material.
