Abstract

This article describes a medial branch intelligent tip needle. A cryogenic method, cryogenic system, and cryogenic device for relieving lower back pain in patients are also described. The cryogenic device includes: a handheld component having a size and shape suitable for support in an operator's hand; and a needle probe coupled to a distal portion of the handheld component. The needle probe includes a probe body, at least one needle coupled to the probe body, and a silicon dioxide supply tube extending within the needle lumen. The system includes a guide configured to receive and position at least one needle near a target group of tissues associated with lower back pain, wherein the cryogenic device is configured to provide a desired puck shape that remains on the distal portion of the guide after at least one needle has been removed. The system further includes a needle sheath configured to accommodate the needle probe.
