Abstract

The present invention provides an antifungal composition comprising one or more azoles and two or more excipients, wherein the first of the two or more excipients comprise chitosan, and wherein the second of the two or more excipients comprise polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC), or a combination thereof. Synergistic interaction between the azoles and the excipients allows for low amount of azole to provide therapeutic effect. The present invention also provides a method of preparation as well as method of treatment of subject suffering from fungal infection using the composition of the present invention.
