Methods and medications for the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases

Abstract

This application discloses a method and medicament for the prevention or treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, which uses or contains a therapeutically effective amount of gliclazide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination of gliclazide or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof with acetaminophen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The method and medicament of this invention can significantly improve symptoms such as decreased sense of smell, cognitive impairment, and psychotic symptoms in patients with neurodegenerative diseases that are untreatable by existing drugs, and are particularly useful for controlling the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
