Child safety seats and their side impact protection mechanisms

Abstract

This invention provides a side-impact protection mechanism, comprising a side-impact protection block and a locking member. The side-impact protection block is pivotally connected to the side wing of a child safety seat. The side-impact protection block has a folded state that conforms to the side wing and an unfolded state that is away from the side wing. The side-impact protection block is held in the unfolded state by locking with the side wing by the locking member. The locking member is movably disposed on the side-impact protection block and has a locking end that can be detachably engaged with the side wing. The locking end is fully locked with the side wing when the side-impact protection block is in the unfolded state and is subjected to a side impact. The locking end is partially locked with the side wing when the side-impact protection block is in the unfolded state and is not subjected to a side impact. Rotation of the side-impact protection block relative to the side wing, when pushed, causes the locking end to disengage from the partial lock with the side wing, thereby switching the side-impact protection block from the unfolded state to the folded state. The side-impact protection mechanism of this invention has the advantages of simple structure and convenient and quick folding. Furthermore, this invention also provides a child safety seat.
