Abstract

The metal seal comprises an annular seal body, a pair of forks extending radially from one of the inner and outer circumferential surfaces of the seal body with their front ends separated from each other, and protrusions formed at the front ends of the pair of forks and abutting against one of the flat surfaces of the placement location to achieve sealing performance. The radial width of the seal body is 0.6 mm to 1.0 mm or less, the ratio of the thickness at the base to the thickness at the root of the protrusions of the forks is 0.45 to 0.70 or less, and the ratio of the thickness at the root to the radial length of the fork from the seal body to the front end is 0.10 to 0.15 or less. The seal is made of a metal material with a yield strength of 450 N / mm² to 1000 N / mm², a tensile strength of 650 N / mm² to 1400 N / mm², and an HV hardness of 200 to 450 or less. Even when used as a substitute for rubber seals, it can achieve the required sealing performance with low tightening force.
