Abstract

A method for controlling air conditioning using multi-stage demand management involves first measuring the instantaneous demand of a power system using a smart meter, then turning on an air conditioning system electrically connected to the power system. The air conditioning system operates at a preset control temperature, and a control system reads the instantaneous demand from the smart meter. Next, the control system reads a plurality of pre-stored demand management conditions and a plurality of demand control commands corresponding to those conditions. When the control system determines that the instantaneous demand matches one of the demand management conditions, it controls the air conditioning system to execute the corresponding demand control command, thereby controlling power consumption and preventing drastic changes in ambient temperature.
