A method for automated appearance comparison of new medications in hospitals

Abstract

This invention presents an automated comparison method for hospital medications, identifying external features of new and existing drugs. By integrating high-resolution imaging, feature point detection, dynamic database updates, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR), the system computes similarity scores for shape, size, and color, and generates visualized outputs. This approach reduces confusion arising from similar packaging, enhances medication safety and efficiency, and aids managers in preventing errors in clinical settings.
