Abstract

The multi-directional input device of this embodiment includes: a frame; an operating member that protrudes from the inside of the frame to the outside and can be tilted in any direction; a first linkage member that has a first shaft support portion, i.e., a shaft portion, rotatably supported by the frame and rotates in conjunction with the tilting operation of the operating member; a second linkage member that has a second shaft support portion, i.e., a shaft portion, rotatably supported by the frame and orthogonal to the shaft portion of the first linkage member, and rotates in conjunction with the tilting operation of the operating member; a spring-loaded member, i.e., a compression coil spring, that pushes the operating member to press the shaft portion of the first linkage member against the frame and imparts a restoring force to the operating member, causing the operating member to return to a neutral position; a pair of clamping portions integrally formed with the frame and rotatably supporting the shaft portion of the second linkage member using the elasticity of the frame material; a first rotation detection portion for detecting the rotation of the first linkage member; and a second rotation detection portion for detecting the rotation of the second linkage member.
