Abstract

The cylindrical battery comprises: an electrode body (14) with a positive electrode (11) and a negative electrode (12) wound around it via separators (13A, 13B); and an outer can, which is a bottomed cylindrical shape and houses the electrode body (14). The electrode body (14) comprises: a positive electrode tab (20) connected to the exposed portion (32) of the positive electrode foil of the positive electrode (11); and protective tape (50a, 50b) insulating the positive electrode (11) from the negative electrode (12). The protective tape (50a, 50b) is attached to a location other than the positive electrode (11) between the negative electrode compound layer (41) and the exposed portion (32) of the positive electrode foil and its surrounding area. The aforementioned negative electrode compound layer (41) is radially opposed to the exposed portion (32) of the positive electrode foil and its surrounding area via separators (13A, 13B).
