Electrostatic discharge protection circuit and integrated circuit having electrostatic discharge protection mechanism

Abstract

An electrostatic discharge protection circuit and an integrated circuit having an electrostatic discharge protection mechanism is provided. The electrostatic discharge protection mechanism of the integrated circuit is performed by the electrostatic discharge(ESD) protection circuit. The electrostatic discharge protection circuit detects the integrated circuit to determine whether or not an electrostatic event occurs in the integrated circuit. When the electrostatic event occurs in the integrated circuit, the ESD circuit guides ESD energy into the electrostatic discharge protection circuit, and then discharges the ESD energy to a ground terminal outside the integrated circuit. The internal integrated circuit will be prevented from being damaged by the ESD energy.
