A composition comprising cells of a Parabacteroides goldsteinii strain (e.g., RV-01) and a carrier, wherein the cells comprise a population of hypo-acylated lipopolysaccharides (LPS). Also provided herein are methods for alleviating conditions such as conditions associated with aging or inflammation with the composition comprising the Parabacteroides goldsteinii cells.
