This invention provides an alkaline battery gel with excellent long-term discharge characteristics (discharge amount and discharge time), shock resistance, and heat resistance, and an alkaline battery using the same. An alkaline battery gel is a crosslinked polymer (A) containing monomers of acrylate (salt) (a1), 2-carboxyethyl acrylate (salt) (a2), and a crosslinking agent (b), wherein the weight ratio of (a1) to (a2) [(a1) / (a2)] is 98.5 / 1.5 to 99.95 / 0.05, and the volume average particle size is 20 to 500 μm. none
