Precision alignment seal

Abstract

A seal geometry forms a joint suited to high purity fluid delivery apparatus wherein abutting planar surfaces are brought into accurate registration without need for additional features. The seal may include a malleable material formed in a ring shape having an inside diameter and an outside diameter, a first end and a second end. The first end has an axially projecting convex radiused first bead adjacent the inside diameter and a convex radiused first relief adjacent the outside diameter, the first bead meeting the first relief to form a first crease. The second end has an axially projecting convex radiused second bead adjacent the outside diameter and a convex radiused second relief adjacent the inside diameter, the second bead meeting the second relief to form a second crease. The diameter of the first crease is substantially identical to the diameter of the second crease.
