Electronic device and method for identifying the motion of a target object

Abstract

An electronic device includes a radar antenna configured to transmit and receive an RF signal, and a processor configured to identify motion of a target object based on a signal received through the radar antenna. The processor configured to obtain a Doppler velocity of the target object, and power of a tone signal obtained in an operation of detecting the target object during a measurement time, obtain a power distribution of the tone signal according to the Doppler velocity, calculate a first correlation value between the power distribution and a first reference distribution corresponding to first motion of the target object, and a second correlation value between the power distribution and a second reference distribution corresponding to second motion of the target object, and determine the motion of the target object as the first motion in response to the first correlation value being greater than the second correlation value.
