Memory system, memory controller and data configuration control method

Abstract

A memory system, a memory controller, and a data configuration control method are provided, capable of appropriately controlling data configuration. According to an embodiment, the memory system includes non-volatile memory and a memory controller. The memory controller is capable of performing a first write and a second write. The memory controller has a first column. When writing data, the memory controller writes the data to the non-volatile memory via the aforementioned first write, and stores the block number of the first-written block in the first column in a manner that allows identification of the write order. When the memory controller rewrites the data that has been first-written to the non-volatile memory via a second write, creating free space in the non-volatile memory, it retrieves the block number of the first-written block stored in the first column according to the write order, and selects the block allocated by the block number as a moving source block for garbage collection based on the retrieval order.
