Abstract

The cylindrical battery (10) comprises: an electrode body, with the positive and negative electrodes wound together with a separator; an electrolyte; an outer can (16), which is a bottomed cylindrical shape and houses the electrode body and the electrolyte; a sealing body (17) that seals the opening located at the top of the outer can (16); and a gasket (28) located between the outer can (16) and the sealing body (17). The outer can (16) has: a groove (35) that protrudes radially inward below the opening to support the gasket (28); and a closing portion (33) that bends the end of the opening radially inward and closes and fixes the sealing body (17) through the gasket (28). The gasket (28) has a recess (60) in the area facing the closing portion (33).
