Power converter with capacitor embedded connector

Abstract

This application discloses a power converter comprising a first power die, a second power die, an inductor unit, and a first connector. Each of the first power die and the second power die comprises a gate driver and a pair of switches. The inductor unit is disposed on a base substrate, and comprises a first output inductor and a second output inductor. The first output inductor is electrically connected to a switch node formed by the pair of switches of the first power die, and the second output inductor is electrically connected to a switch node formed by the pair of switches of the second power die. The first connector is disposed perpendicular to the base substrate, and comprises a first substrate and a first plurality of capacitors attached to a planar side of the first substrate. Embodiments of this invention further improve current density of a power module by vertically placing the capacitors.
