Multi-band beam transmitter system and method of transmitting multi-band optical beams

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a multi-band beam transmitter system, comprising: a plurality of optical sources configured to respectively produce a plurality of source optical signals of distinct wavelength bands; a peripheral circuitry having an optical combiner configured to combine the source optical signals and an optical splitter configured to split the combined source optical signal into a plurality of peripheral circuitry output signals; a single optical phased array (OPA) configured to generate a plurality of simultaneous OPA output signals based on the peripheral circuitry output signals, wherein the OPA output signals include at least one first OPA output signal having a first direction and a first wavelength, and at least one second OPA output signal having a second direction and a second wavelength, wherein the first direction and the second direction are substantially the same, wherein the first wavelength and the second wavelength correspond to the distinct wavelength bands of the optical sources.
