Methods and apparatus of video coding

Abstract

A method and apparatus for video coding using coding tools including neural network-based intra prediction are disclosed. According to the method, input data associated with a current block is received, wherein the input data comprise pixel data for the current block to be encoded at an encoder side or coded data associated with the current block to be decoded at a decoder side. Multiple NN (Neural Network)-based intra predictions are derived by using different neural network models or using different templates, wherein each of the multiple NN-based intra predictions is derived by applying one neural network model to reconstructed samples in a template of the current block. A final prediction is generated by combining two or more NN-based intra predictions or fusing a selected NN-based intra prediction and a non-NN-intra prediction. The current block is encoded or decoded using the final prediction.
