Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to a server device, and more particularly to a server device suitable for operation at the front end of a system to lock or unlock a top cover. Prior Technology

[0002] Currently, server cover mounting methods mainly include cover fasteners, stainless steel spring clips, and hand-turned screws. However, each method has its limitations. While conventional cover fasteners offer quick opening, they require internal space, and their design is not universally applicable to 1U and 2U server chassis structures. Stainless steel spring clips, although simple in structure, may suffer from fatigue, affecting long-term reliability. Hand-turned screws require the cover to open / close in the correct direction, making installation and operation inconvenient for sliding covers.

[0003] Therefore, developing a top cover fixing mechanism that is space-efficient, structurally robust, and suitable for various server chassis sizes has become a key issue in improving server design flexibility and maintenance convenience. Summary of the Invention

[0004] The present invention provides a server device that solves the problems of poor space utilization efficiency, poor structural stability, and inability to be used with various server housing sizes in the prior art.

[0005] A server device disclosed in one embodiment of the present invention includes a carrier housing, a movable top cover, a front panel, an extension fastener, and a locking member. The carrier housing includes an accommodating space. The movable top cover is slidably assembled to the carrier housing and covers at least a portion of the accommodating space. The front panel is fixed to the carrier housing and located at a front opening of the accommodating space, and the front panel and the movable top cover are respectively located on adjacent sides of the accommodating space. The extension fastener is fixed to the movable top cover and located in the accommodating space, and the extension fastener extends from the movable top cover toward the front opening and beyond a leading edge of the movable top cover. The locking member is fixed to the front panel and corresponding to the extension fastener, and the locking member is used to disengage and engage the extension fastener.

[0006] According to the server device disclosed in the above embodiments, the server device utilizes an extension fastening member provided on the movable top cover. This extension fastening member extends from the movable top cover toward the front opening and beyond the front edge of the movable top cover, allowing it to be locked to a locking member disposed on the front panel. This not only achieves the purpose of securing the movable top cover but also improves the ease of operation and assembly efficiency for the end user.

[0009] The following detailed description of the embodiments of the present invention outlines its features and advantages. This description is sufficient to enable anyone skilled in the art to understand the technical content of the embodiments of the present invention and to implement them accordingly. Furthermore, based on the disclosure, patent claims, and drawings in this specification, anyone skilled in the art can easily understand the relevant objectives and advantages of the present invention. The following embodiments further illustrate the points of the present invention but are not intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

[0010] Please refer to Figures 1 to 3, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of a server device according to one embodiment of the present invention, Figure 2 is an exploded view of the server device of Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a perspective view of the extension fastener of the server device of Figure 1.

[0011] The server device 1 in this embodiment includes a support shell 10, a movable top cover 12, a front plate 14, an extension fastener 16, and a locking fastener 18.

[0012] The carrier housing 10 includes an accommodating space S1, and a circuit board (not shown) is disposed in the accommodating space S1. The movable top cover 12 is slidably assembled to the carrier housing 10 and covers at least part of the accommodating space S1.

[0013] The front plate 14 is fixed to the bearing shell 10 and located at a front opening F1 of the accommodating space S1, and the front plate 14 and the movable top cover 12 are respectively located on adjacent sides of the accommodating space S1.

[0014] The extension fastener 16 is fixed to the movable cover 12 and located in the accommodating space S1, and the extension fastener 16 extends from the movable cover 12 toward the front opening F1 and beyond a leading edge E1 of the movable cover 12.

[0015] The locking member 18 is fixed to the front plate 14 and is provided corresponding to the extension fastener 16, and the locking member 18 is used to separately fasten the extension fastener 16.

[0016] The server device 1 further includes a fixed cover plate 19, but the present invention is not limited thereto. The fixed cover plate 19 is fixed to the supporting housing 10 and partially covers the accommodating space S1, and is located between the movable upper cover 12 and the front plate 14. An extension fastener 16 extends from the movable upper cover 12 to the space between the movable upper cover 12 and the front plate 14, and the fixed cover plate 19 and the extension fastener 16 partially overlap in the normal direction N1 of the fixed cover plate 19.

[0017] Please refer to Figures 4 to 7, which are partial cross-sectional view of the movable cover and locking mechanism of the server device in Figure 1.

[0018] The extension fastener 16 includes a fastening hole 160 facing the front plate 14. The locking fastener 18 includes a fixing base 180, an operating part 182, a pin 184, and a stop part 186. The fixing base 180 is fixed to the front plate 14. The operating part 182 is rotatably disposed on the fixing base 180 about the axis L1 of the fixing base 180, and the operating part 182 is located on the side of the front plate 14 away from the receiving space S1. The pin 184 is connected to the operating part 182 and passes through the fixing base 180 and the front plate 14 along the axis L1 to extend into the receiving space S1, and the pin 184 is separately disposed in the fastening hole 160. The stop part 186 is connected to the end of the pin 184 away from the operating part 182 and extends in a direction perpendicular to the axis L1.

[0019] The length of the stop portion 186 in the direction perpendicular to axis L1 is greater than its width in the same direction. The length of the fastening hole 160 is greater than its width. Specifically, the length of the stop portion 186 is less than the length of the fastening hole 160 but greater than its width, and the width of the stop portion 186 is less than the width of the fastening hole 160. As shown in Figures 5 and 6, when the operating part 182 is subjected to force to rotate the pin 184 and the stop portion 186 to an unlocked position, the length of the stop portion 186 is parallel to the length of the fastening hole 160, causing the stop portion 186 to completely overlap with the fastening hole 160 in the direction parallel to axis L1. That is, the periphery of the stop portion 186 and the fastening hole 160 do not interfere with each other in the direction parallel to axis L1, thus the movable upper cover 12 is not yet fixed to the supporting shell 10. As shown in Figure 7, when the operating part 182 is subjected to force to rotate the pin 184 and the stop part 186 to a locked position, the length direction of the stop part 186 is not parallel to the length direction of the fastening hole 160, so that the stop part 186 does not overlap with the fastening hole 160 at least partially in the direction parallel to the axis L1. That is, the stop part 186 and the periphery of the fastening hole 160 interfere with each other in the direction parallel to the axis L1, thereby fixing the movable top cover 12 to the supporting shell 10.

[0020] The locking element 18 further includes a reset element (not shown), but the invention is not limited thereto. The reset element is connected between the operating part 182 and the fixed base 180, and the operating part 182 is movably connected to the fixed base 180 through the reset element in a direction parallel to the axis L1. As shown in Figures 5 and 6, when the operating part 182 rotates the pin 184 and the stop part 186 to the unlocked position, the operating part 182 is moved away from the fixed base 180 by a restoring force from the reset element, causing the pin 184 to disengage from the fastening hole 160 (as shown in Figure 5), or the operating part 182 is moved towards the fixed base 180 by an external force opposite to the restoring force, causing the pin 184 to pass through the fastening hole 160 (as shown in Figure 6). As shown in Figure 7, when the operating part 182 rotates the pin 184 and the stop part 186 to the locked position, the operating part 182 is normally subjected to a restoring force away from the fixed base 180 by the reset element, causing the stop part 186 to abut against the periphery of the fastening hole 160. The locking element 18 may be, for example, a quarter-turn automatic locking element, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0021] As shown in Figures 5 and 6, when the operating part 182 is in the unlocked position and drives the pin 184 and the stop part 186 to move in a direction parallel to the axis L1, neither the pin 184 nor the stop part 186 will contact the extension fastener 16. Therefore, the movable cover 12 and the extension fastener 16 will not be pushed by the locking member 18, thus preventing the end user from accidentally pushing the movable cover 12 open when operating the locking member 18.

[0022] The extension fastener 16 further includes a top plate 162, a front wall 164, and two side walls 166. The top plate 162 is fixed to the movable top cover 12. The front wall 164 is connected to the top plate 162 and faces the front plate 14, and the fastening hole 160 is located in the front wall 164. The two side walls 166 are connected to the opposite sides of the top plate 162 and the front wall 164. The extension fastener 16 is integrally formed by bending sheet metal, and the material of the extension fastener 16 is iron, but the present invention is not limited thereto. In addition, the extension fastener 16 is riveted and fixed to the movable top cover 12, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0023] In this embodiment and other embodiments of the present invention, the fastening hole 160 is rectangular and the stop part 186 is cuboid, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0024] Please refer to Figure 8, which is a partial cross-sectional view of the server device in Figure 1. The thickness of the movable top cover 12 is, for example, 0.8 mm. The fixed cover 19 is, for example, formed by stacking an upper plate 191 and a lower plate 192, both with a thickness of 0.5 mm, and the upper plate 191 and the lower plate 192 are integrally formed sheet metal. In the assembled state, the movable top cover 12 and the upper plate 191 of the fixed cover 19 are arranged side by side, and the movable top cover 12 and the upper plate 191 are separated from each other to form a gap G1. The lower plate 192 of the fixed cover 19 is further bent and extends below the movable top cover 12. By configuring the lower plate 192 to extend below the movable top cover 12 to cover the gap G1 between the movable top cover 12 and the upper plate 191, electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the circuit board can be effectively prevented from penetrating the gap G1 and leaking out. Furthermore, due to the limited internal space of the server device 1, the vertical distance between the movable upper cover 12 and the internal components is usually narrow. Therefore, the thickness of the lower plate 192 of the fixed cover 19 is set to only 0.5 mm, which helps to avoid mechanical interference between the lower plate 192 and the components below the movable upper cover 12, while also optimizing shielding and space configuration. In addition, the fixed cover 19 is formed by stacking the upper plate 191 and the lower plate 192, so that the overall stacked thickness is about 1 mm, ensuring its overall structural strength.

[0025] In this embodiment, the server device of the present invention can be used for artificial intelligence (AI) computing, edge computing, and can also be used as a 5G server, cloud server or vehicle networking server.

[0026] According to the server device of the above embodiment, by providing an extension fastener on the movable top cover, and extending the extension fastener from the movable top cover toward the front opening and beyond the front edge of the movable top cover, the extension fastener can be correspondingly locked to a locking member disposed on the front panel. In this way, not only can the purpose of fixing the movable top cover be achieved, but also the operational convenience and assembly efficiency of the end user are improved.

[0027] Although the present invention has been disclosed above with reference to the preferred embodiments described above, it is not intended to limit the present invention. Anyone skilled in the art can make some modifications and refinements without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. Therefore, the scope of patent protection of the present invention shall be determined by the claims defined in the appended patent application.
