Abstract

【Item Uses】 The item used in this design is a toy sailboat. 【Design Description】 The views that best represent this design are perspective view (I) and perspective view (II). This design relates to a toy sailboat, particularly a toy monohull sailboat, comprising: - a hull with a central skeg at the bottom end extending along the entire length of the hull; - a superstructure forming a deckhouse on the upper deck surface of the hull; - a mast projecting upward from the front of the superstructure; - a set of sails including a mainsail and a foresail, respectively positioned aft and forward of the mast; - two arms positioned on either side of the hull, projecting outward from the hull, each with a hydrofoil at its end; - a keel projecting downward from the central skeg of the hull, longitudinally aligned with the mast, and having a bulb at its base with a hydrofoil; - a rudder projecting downward from the tail of the central skeg, with a hydrofoil at its vertical end. The proportions and shape of the hull were primarily designed to maximize performance (i.e., speed) when sailing offshore. From a top view, the hull is roughly teardrop-shaped, with a pointed end at the bow, a truncated end at the stern, and an enlarged section between the bow and the stern, featuring a raised side profile. Still viewed from the top view, the protruding side profile of the central expansion connects to the stern section and the bow tip via their respective generally linear side profiles. The hull has two opposing and generally perpendicular side surfaces and two generally flat bottom surfaces that connect the opposing side surfaces to the central fin. At the bow tip, the hull sides form an extension of the side profile of the central fin. The central fin is formed by a curved surface at its lower part, with a relatively smooth protrusion at the stern and a sharper protrusion at the bow. The width of the central fin gradually decreases from the central expansion of the hull toward the bow and stern. The maximum width of the central fin is approximately located at the position where the keel and mast are located. Viewed from the side, the upper deck surface of the hull has a slope that extends from the mast toward the bow and stern. Therefore, the height of the hull at the midsection is higher than at the truncated section at the stern and the tip of the bow. The slope of the upper deck surface appears steeper at the stern than at the bow. From a top view, the superstructure that makes up the deckhouse has a raised front profile, roughly arc-shaped, and a roof surface with a raised upper profile, thus roughly teardrop-shaped. The deckhouse has a set of windows, including two slender side windows that are symmetrical to each other and extend rearward from the area near the mast. The stern section of the hull is defined by a rearward-facing, generally vertical surface, on which a spoiler is provided. The spoiler has an airfoil horizontally positioned between two legs projecting from the vertical surface. In a side view, the legs are L-shaped and have a convex profile. In a top view, the trailing edge of the airfoil has a raised central portion.
