Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to the field of paper container technology, such as paper cups and paper bowls, and particularly to a paper cup. Prior Technology

[0002] Paper cups are convenient to use and are generally used to hold liquids such as water, coffee, and milk. Some paper cups are now also used to hold alcohol, and some paper cups are made in larger sizes to be used as packaging boxes for soups, making it convenient to carry liquids or solid-liquid mixtures. Moreover, paper cups have the advantages of low cost, portability, and safety compared to glass cups. Compared to plastic cups, paper cups have the advantages of high temperature resistance and no pollution. Therefore, paper cups have a very wide range of applications.

[0003] The general method for making paper cups is as follows: A waterproof membrane is applied to the inner surface of a fan-shaped piece of paper. The two ends of the fan-shaped paper are interlaced and joined together to form a cylindrical shape. A folded-inward section is formed at the lower opening edge, and a rolled-out flange is formed at the upper opening edge. During the interlacing and joining of the two ends of the fan-shaped paper, at the joint, the inner surface of one end of the paper overlaps the outer surface of the other end. Because the outer surface of the paper is not coated with a waterproof membrane, the joint is not firmly bonded, allowing liquid inside the paper cup to leak out from the bonded joint.

[0004] To address the aforementioned technical problems, existing technologies extend the waterproof membrane to one end of the paper cup, making the membrane slightly longer than the cup itself. When the paper cups are interlocked and joined, the end of the waterproof membrane extending beyond the cup lies inside the cup. This ensures that a layer of waterproof membrane completely adheres to the seam between the side walls, effectively isolating the seam from the liquid inside and preventing leakage. However, the waterproof membrane is relatively thin and prone to deformation during the paper cup forming process, making cup forming inconvenient.

[0005] Another solution to the aforementioned technical problem exists in the prior art: a paper cup with a leak-proof structure. The paper cup includes composite packaging paper, which is composed of PE layer I, paper, and PE layer II. One side of the composite packaging paper has a folded edge formed by removing half the thickness of the composite packaging paper (to facilitate folding at the seam to form a flange and a fold-back section). The outer side of the folded edge is a rough edge. After folding, the rough edge is bonded to PE layer I to form a packaging paper with a folded edge. The packaging paper with the folded edge is then overlapped and bonded to form the paper cup body. By treating the overlapping surface with a folded edge, liquid leakage is prevented, and contact between the cross-section and food is avoided, making it safer and more hygienic.

[0006] In the above scheme, removing half the thickness of the composite packaging paper requires an additional edge-trimming device. However, during the removal of the composite packaging paper, the blades in the edge-trimming device are prone to damage, making the paper cup forming more troublesome and increasing costs. Summary of the Invention

[0007] The purpose of this invention is to address the aforementioned problems in existing technologies by proposing a paper cup. The technical problem this invention aims to solve is: how to improve the efficiency of paper cup production and reduce the production cost while ensuring the sealing of the seams of the paper cup.

[0008] The objective of this invention can be achieved through the following technical solution: A paper cup, comprising an inner cup layer, wherein a waterproof membrane is provided on the inner side of the inner cup layer, and a folded area is provided on the inner cup layer formed by bending from the first end of the inner cup layer to the outside of the inner cup layer, wherein the waterproof membrane comprises a second end of the waterproof membrane located on the outer side of the folded area and a first end of the waterproof membrane located on the inner side of the second end of the inner cup layer, wherein the thickness of the folded area is equal to the thickness of the inner cup layer, and an outer cup layer is further provided on the outer side of the inner cup layer, wherein the adjacent edge on the outer cup layer is opposite to or overlaps with the outer edge of the folded area, wherein the second end of the inner cup layer and the second end of the outer cup layer and the outer side of the folded area are connected to form a cup body, wherein the second end of the inner cup layer is located on the outside of the adjacent edge, and the first end of the waterproof membrane is fixed on the second end of the waterproof membrane and the second end of the outer cup layer.

[0009] In this design, a waterproof membrane is provided on the inner side of the inner cup layer. The first end of the inner cup layer is bent outwards to form a folded area, and a waterproof membrane is also provided on the outer side of the folded area. A waterproof membrane is also provided on the inner side of the second end of the inner cup layer. When the second end of the inner cup layer is fixed to the outer side of the folded area, the first and second ends of the waterproof membrane, as well as the second end of the outer cup layer, adhere to each other, preventing water from seeping out from the seam and improving the sealing of the paper cup seam. The outer cup layer reduces the height difference between the folded area and the outer side of the inner cup layer, allowing the second end of the waterproof membrane to better adhere to both the second end of the waterproof membrane and the second end of the outer cup layer. The first end of the waterproof membrane is simultaneously fixed to two parts of the cup body, namely the second end of the waterproof membrane and the second end of the outer cup layer, making the paper cup seam more secure. In this design, the inner cup layer does not require edge trimming, ensuring the sealing of the paper cup seam while improving production efficiency and reducing production costs.

[0010] In the paper cup described above, when the adjoining edge is opposite to the outer edge edge, the adjoining edge is counterpointed to the outer edge edge or there is an interval between the adjoining edge and the outer edge edge. In the paper cup forming, the adjacent edges and the outer edge edge are connected, after the paper cup forming, the first end of the waterproof film and the second end of the waterproof film form one, improving the sealing effect of the paper cup, and

[0011] In the paper cup described above, the upper ends of the inner cup layer, the folding zone, and the outer cup layer are rolled outward to form a roll mouth. The first end of the waterproof film is fixed on the second end of the waterproof film as well as the second end of the outer cup layer, so that the inner cup layer, folding area and the second end of the outer cup layer are fixed more tightly.

[0012] In the paper cup described above, both the outer cup layer and the folding zone are adhered to the outside of the inner cup layer.

[0013] In the paper cup described above, the outer cup layer includes a first outer cup layer and a second outer cup layer, the second outer cup layer is located outside the first outer cup layer, the first end of the waterproof membrane is fixed on the second end of the waterproof membrane as well as the first end of the second outer cup layer.

[0014] In the paper cup described above, the first end of the first outer cup layer comprises a first adjoining junction which is interfacing and interfacing with the outer edge edge,

[0015] The first end of the second outer cup layer is located at the first end of the first outer cup layer and the outer side of the folding part, reducing the appearance of the first adjacent edge and the outer edge edge detaching from the outer side of the inner cup layer when the paper cup is rolled.

[0016] In the paper cup described above, the first end of the first outer cup layer comprises a first adjoining junction that is opposite to and is spaced with the outer rim edge, the first end of the second outer cup layer includes a second adjoining junction, the second adjoining junction overlaps with the outer rim, the second adjoining junction is located on the outside of the fold zone and between the outer edge and the folded edge.

[0017] In the aforementioned paper cup, the second end of the inner cup layer extends to the outer side of the first adjacent edge. Here, "outer side" refers to the radial direction of the paper cup, where the second end of the inner cup layer does not contact the first adjacent edge.

[0018] In the aforementioned paper cup, the edge of the second end of the inner cup layer is located between the outer edge and the folded edge.

[0019] Compared with the prior art, the present invention has the following advantages:

[0020] 1. In this paper cup, the adjacent edges abut against the outer edge, and the first and second ends of the waterproof membrane form a single unit, which improves the sealing effect of the paper cup and makes the seams of the paper cup more secure. The inner cup layer does not need to be cut. While ensuring the sealing of the seams of the paper cup, it can also improve the efficiency of paper cup production and reduce the production cost of paper cup.

[0021] 2. The first end of the waterproof membrane is fixed to the second end of the waterproof membrane and the second end of the outer cup layer, making the inner cup layer, the folding area and the second end of the outer cup layer more tightly fixed. When the top of the paper cup is rolled outward, the second end of the outer cup layer is not easy to fall off the inner cup layer, making the rolled edge of the paper cup more secure. [0030] Figure 9 is a schematic diagram of the transverse cross-section of the paper cup in Embodiment 3 of the present invention. Implementation

[0031] The following are specific embodiments of the present invention, which are described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments.

[0032] Example 1

[0033] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, and in conjunction with Figures 6 and 7, in this embodiment, the paper cup 1 has a hollow, flared cup body 5 structure. The cup body 5 is formed by bending fan-shaped paper, which has a double-layer structure, mainly including an inner cup layer 2 and an outer cup layer 3. The thickness of the paper is generally between 50g / m² and 350g / m². In this embodiment, the thickness of both the inner cup layer 2 and the outer cup layer 3 is 150g / m², although the thicknesses of the inner cup layer 2 and the outer cup layer 3 can also be different. The double-layered paper cup 1 provides heat protection and also feels more substantial in hand, resulting in a better user experience.

[0034] The outer cup layer 3 is fixedly disposed on the outer surface of the inner cup layer 2. A waterproof membrane 8 is provided on the inner surface of the inner cup layer 2. The waterproof membrane 8 prevents the liquid in the paper cup 1 from directly contacting and wetting the inner cup layer 2, thus preventing liquid leakage from the paper cup 1. The first end 2a of the inner cup layer 2 is folded outward along the fold edge 4b to form a folded area 4. The thickness of the folded area 4 is equal to the thickness of the first end 2a of the inner cup layer 2. The inner surface of the folded area 4 is fixed to the outer surface of the inner cup layer 2, and the second end 8b of the waterproof membrane 8 is on the outer surface of the folded area 4. The outermost edge of the folded area 4 is the outer edge 4a. In this embodiment, the adjacent edge 3c of the first end 3a of the outer cup layer 3 and the outer edge 4a of the folded area 4 abut against each other. Here, "abut against" means that the first end 3a of the outer cup layer 3 and the outer edge 4a of the folded area 4 are in contact but do not overlap. As an alternative, there can be a gap between the adjacent edge 3c and the outer edge 4a. The second end 3b of the outer cup layer 3 and the second end 2b of the inner cup layer 2 are flush.

[0035] The outer cup layer 3 and the folded area 4 are both bonded to the outside of the inner cup layer 2. The inner cup layer 2 is bent, and the inner side of the second end 2b of the inner cup layer 2, the outer side of the folded area 4, and the first end 3a of the outer cup layer 3 are fixedly connected to form a seam. Ultrasonic heating is used at the seam, and the second end 8b of the waterproof membrane 8 melts and is fixed to the first end 3a of the outer cup layer 3. At the same time, the first end 8a and the second end 8b of the waterproof membrane 8 become one piece. After the waterproof membrane 8 at the seam cools, the cup body is formed. The liquid in the paper cup 1 is not easy to leak out from the seam. Furthermore, the first end 8a of the waterproof membrane 8 becomes one piece after being fixed with the second end 8b of the waterproof membrane 8, which improves the sealing effect of the paper cup and makes the seam of the paper cup more secure. The inner cup layer 2 does not need to be trimmed. While ensuring the sealing of the seam of the paper cup, it can also improve the production efficiency of the paper cup 1 and reduce the production cost of the paper cup 1.

[0036] As shown in Figure 3 in conjunction with Figures 2, 4, and 5, the paper cup 1 has a rolled opening 6 and a cup bottom 7 at the top. The rolled opening 6 is formed by bending the cup body 5 into a hollow, flared shape and then rolling the upper part of the inner cup layer 2 outwards. The folded area 4 on the outer side of the inner cup layer 2 and the outer cup layer 3 also roll outwards along with the inner cup layer 2 to form the rolled opening 6. The cup bottom 7 and the cup body 5 of the paper cup 1 are separate structures. The installation process of the cup bottom 7 and the cup body 5 is mainly as follows: after the cup body 5 is bent into a hollow, flared shape, the lower part of the paper in the inner cup layer 2 is bent inwards. The folded area 4 on the outer side of the inner cup layer 2 and the outer cup layer 3 also bend inwards along with the inner cup layer 2. The cup walls of the inner cup layer 2 and the cup body 5 form a groove. The cup bottom feet 7a on both sides of the cup bottom 7 are inserted into the groove and fixed, so that the cup bottom 7 and the cup body 5 are fixedly connected.

[0037] Example 2

[0038] As shown in Figure 8, the structure of this embodiment is basically the same as that of Embodiment 1. In this embodiment, the outer cup layer 3 includes a first outer cup layer 9 and a second outer cup layer 10. The second outer cup layer 10 is located outside the first outer cup layer 9, and the lateral length of the second outer cup layer 10 is greater than the length of the first outer cup layer 9. The first end 8a of the waterproof membrane 8 is fixed to the second end 8b of the waterproof membrane 8 and the first end 10a of the second outer cup layer 10. The first end 9a of the first outer cup layer 9 includes a first adjacent edge 9c, which is opposite to and in contact with the outer edge 4a. Alternatively, the first adjacent edge 9c is opposite to the outer edge 4a but with a gap. The first end 10a of the second outer cup layer 10 includes a second adjacent edge 10c, which overlaps with the outer edge 4a. The second adjacent edge 10c is located outside the folded area 4 and between the outer edge 4a and the folded edge 4b. The edge of the second end 2b of the inner cup layer 2 is located between the outer edge 4a and the folded edge 4b.

[0039] Example 3

[0040] As shown in Figure 9, the structure of Embodiment 3 is basically the same as that of Embodiment 2, except that the second end 2b of the inner cup layer 2 extends to the outside of the first adjacent edge 9c. Here, the outside refers to the outside of the paper cup diameter direction. The second end 2b of the inner cup layer 2 does not directly contact the first adjacent edge 9c.

[0041] In this invention, "first end" and "second end" refer to the inward extension of the side edges of each layer in the paper cup by a certain distance.

[0042] Although this document frequently uses terms such as 1. paper cup; 2. inner cup layer; 2a. first end of inner cup layer; 2b. second end of inner cup layer; 3. outer cup layer; 4. folded area; 4a. outer edge; 4b. folded edge; 5. cup body; 6. rolled rim; 7. cup bottom; 7a. cup bottom foot; 8. waterproof membrane; 8a. first end of waterproof membrane; 8b. second end of waterproof membrane, etc., the possibility of using other terms is not excluded. The use of these terms is merely for the convenience of describing and explaining the essence of this invention; interpreting them as any additional limitation would contradict the spirit of this invention.

[0043] The above description is merely illustrative of specific embodiments of the present invention and is not intended to limit the present invention. Equivalent substitutions, modifications, or alterations made by those skilled in the art based on the teachings of the present invention are all included within the scope of the patent application of the present invention and do not depart from the scope of the rights of the present invention.
