Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to a water-based coating composition, and more particularly to a lignin-containing water-based coating composition, a method for manufacturing the same, and a coating thereof. Prior Technology

[0002] Coatings are used to coat the surface of objects to form a protective or color layer to protect the surface or provide an aesthetic effect. They can be divided into oil-based and water-based coatings according to their raw materials and manufacturing methods.

[0003] When water-based coatings are applied to the surface of an object, the resulting coating may contain pores, which can allow dust and dirt to enter and become difficult to remove.

[0004] The inventors of this case have carefully studied this problem and discovered that if lignin is added to water-based coatings in a specific form, the lignin can fill the voids in the coating formed by the water-based coating, thereby preventing dirt from embedding in the voids and making the dirt difficult to remove. [0005] Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide a water-based coating composition containing lignin, a method for manufacturing the same, and a coating thereof, which can provide a coating with good stain resistance and easy cleaning properties.

1. A coating of a lignin-containing waterborne coating composition, formed by uniformly mixing the lignin-containing waterborne coating composition with an isocyanate resin and then coating it, wherein the lignin-containing waterborne coating composition comprises: 35 to 45 weight percent of a film-forming substance; 35 to 45 weight percent of pigments and fillers; 5 to 15 weight percent of coating additives; and 5 to 20 weight percent of deionized water, wherein the film-forming substance comprises an acrylic copolymer solution and an aqueous solution of lignin sulfonate, the pigments and fillers comprise titanium dioxide, kaolin, talc, and calcium carbonate, and the coating additives comprise thickeners, dispersants, film-forming aids, defoamers, preservatives, and pH adjusters.

2. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the acrylic copolymer solution is a pure acrylic polymer or a styrene-acrylic copolymer solution.

3. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the aqueous lignin sulfonate solution is an aqueous sodium salt solution or an aqueous calcium salt solution.

4. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the thickener is a polyurethane rheology modifier, a polyether rheology modifier, an acrylic rheology modifier, a cellulose thickener, or a combination thereof.

5. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the dispersant is an ammonium polyacrylate dispersant, a sodium polyacrylate dispersant, or a combination thereof.

6. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the film-forming aid is ester alcohol dodecyl.

7. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the defoamer is an organosilicone defoamer, a mineral oil defoamer, or a combination thereof.

8. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the corrosion inhibitor is 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one, 2-methylisothiazolin-3-one, or a combination thereof.

9. The coating as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pH adjuster is an organic alcohol amine neutralizer.
