Abstract

This invention discloses that magnetic carbon nanofibers (MCFs) deposited with metal nanoparticles can be used to combat *Escherichia coli* and *Staphylococcus aureus*. The MCFs are prepared by deposition of MCFs in a solution containing 0.5 to 1 wt% silver ions and 0.25 to 1 wt% copper ions. This invention also discloses a method for using these metal nanoparticle-deposited MCFs in vitro to prevent and / or inhibit the growth of *Escherichia coli* and *Staphylococcus aureus*.

Claims

1. The use of a magnetic carbon nanofiber deposited with metal nanoparticles for the preparation of a pharmaceutical product for combating Escherichia coli and / or Staphylococcus aureus, wherein the magnetic carbon nanofiber deposited with metal nanoparticles is prepared by depositing the magnetic carbon nanofiber in a solution containing 0.5 to 1 wt% silver ions and 0.25 to 1 wt% copper ions.

2. The use as described in claim 1, wherein the magnetic carbon nanofiber is a carbon nanofiber containing nickel magnetic nanoparticles.

3. The use as described in claim 1, wherein the solution contains 0.5 to 1 wt% silver ions and 1 wt% copper ions.

4. A method for preventing and / or inhibiting the growth of *Escherichia coli* and / or *Staphylococcus aureus* in vitro, comprising applying magnetic carbon nanofibers deposited with metal nanoparticles to an area requiring such treatment, wherein the magnetic carbon nanofibers deposited with metal nanoparticles are prepared by depositing the magnetic carbon nanofibers in a solution containing 0.5 to 1 wt% silver ions and 0.25 to 1 wt% copper ions.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the magnetic carbon nanofiber is a carbon nanofiber containing nickel magnetic nanoparticles.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein the solution contains 0.5 to 1 wt% silver ions and 1 wt% copper ions.
