Abstract

A display device includes a liquid crystal panel, a backlight controller, and a display controller. The liquid crystal panel is used to display a plurality of display images. The backlight controller is coupled to the liquid crystal panel and is used to send a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal according to the dynamic image response time to turn on and off a backlight of the liquid crystal panel. The display controller is coupled to the liquid crystal panel and is used to hide the corresponding display image after the backlight is turned on by the PWM signal to display one of the display images and before the backlight is turned off by the PWM signal.

Claims

1. A display device, comprising: A liquid crystal panel for displaying multiple display screens; A backlight controller, coupled to the LCD panel, is used to send a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to turn on and off a backlight of the LCD panel according to the moving picture response time (MPRT); and a display controller, coupled to the LCD panel, is used to set the corresponding display screen to a completely black screen after the backlight is turned on by the PWM signal to display one of the display screens and before the backlight is turned off by the PWM signal; wherein the backlight is turned on after switching to the corresponding display screen and before the display controller sets the corresponding display screen to the completely black screen.

2. The display device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the backlight controller uses the PWM signal to turn off the backlight before the display controller switches to the next display screen.

3. The display device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the display frequency of the display screens is approximately 120Hz, 240Hz or 400Hz.

A method for operating a display device, the display device comprising a liquid crystal panel, a backlight controller, and a display controller, the method comprising: Multiple display screens are displayed on the LCD panel; The backlight controller sends a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal based on the moving picture response time (MPRT) to turn on and off the backlight of the LCD panel; and the display controller turns on the backlight with the PWM signal to display one of the display screens, and sets the corresponding display screen to a completely black screen before the PWM signal turns off the backlight; wherein the backlight is turned on after switching to the corresponding display screen and before the display controller sets the corresponding display screen to a completely black screen.

5. The method as described in claim 4, further comprising: The backlight controller uses the PWM signal to turn on the backlight after the display controller switches to the corresponding display screen; The backlight controller uses the PWM signal to turn off the backlight before the display controller switches to the next display screen.

6. The method as described in claim 4, wherein the display frequency of the display screens is approximately 120Hz, 240Hz, or 400Hz.
