Abstract
Claims
1. A method for preparing biodiesel, comprising: The oil is heated to a reaction temperature, wherein the oil comprises an oil matrix and an acid reactant, and the reaction temperature is 180°C to 220°C; while maintaining the reaction temperature, an alcohol reactant and an iron catalyst are added to the oil to cause the alcohol reactant and the acid reactant to undergo an esterification reaction; and the oil matrix is subjected to a transesterification reaction to generate the biodiesel.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the oil matrix comprises soybean oil, palm oil, rapeseed oil, or a combination thereof.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the acid reactant comprises oleic acid.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the alcohol reactant comprises glycerol.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein the iron catalyst has a particle size of 50 μm to 200 μm.
6. The method of claim 1, wherein the iron catalyst comprises iron powder.
7. The method of claim 6, wherein maintaining the reaction temperature is performed using microwave treatment, wherein the microwave power of the microwave treatment is 1,000 W to 1,500 W, and the irradiation time of the microwave treatment is 20 minutes to 120 minutes.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein the esterification reaction takes less than 120 minutes.
9. The method of claim 1, wherein the reaction pressure of the esterification reaction is 100 Torr to 200 Torr.
10. The method of claim 1, wherein the content of the iron catalyst is from 0.5% by weight to 4.0% by weight, based on the total weight of the oil, the alcohol reactant and the iron catalyst.
11. The method of claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of the alcohol reactant to the acid reactant is 1 to 20.
12. The method of claim 1, wherein the molar ratio of the oil matrix to the acid reactant is 1.1 to 2.0.
