Abstract

This invention provides the use of a traditional Chinese medicine composition in the preparation of a medicament for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The traditional Chinese medicine composition comprises 0.9–1.1 parts by weight of Aconitum carmichaelii (Fuzi), 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Polygonatum odoratum (Yuzhu), 2.25–2.75 parts by weight of Poria cocos (Fuling), 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Pinellia ternata (Banxia), 2.25–2.75 parts by weight of Artemisia capillaris (Mianyinchen), 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Scutellaria baicalensis (Huangqin), 2.25–2.75 parts by weight of Trichosanthes kirilowii (Gualoushi), 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Magnolia officinalis (Houpu), 4.50–5.50 parts by weight of Houttuynia cordata (Yuxingcao), and 0.9–1.1 parts by weight of processed Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Licorice root). Through this novel use of the traditional Chinese medicine composition as described above, a medicament for treating COPD can be prepared.

Claims

1. The use of a traditional Chinese medicine composition for preparing a medicament for treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the traditional Chinese medicine composition comprising 0.9–1.1 parts by weight of Aconitum carmichaelii, 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Polygonatum odoratum, 2.25–2.75 parts by weight of Poria cocos, 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Pinellia ternata, 2.25–2.75 parts by weight of Artemisia capillaris, 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Scutellaria baicalensis, 2.25–2.75 parts by weight of Trichosanthes kirilowii, 1.35–1.65 parts by weight of Magnolia officinalis, 4.50–5.50 parts by weight of Houttuynia cordata, and 0.9–1.1 parts by weight of Glycyrrhiza uralensis (processed with honey).

2. The use as described in claim 1, for improving the decrease in arterial blood oxygen content caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

3. The use as described in claim 1, for improving airway resistance caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

4. The use as described in claim 1, for improving airway inflammation caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
