[0009] Hereinafter, the modular jack of the embodiment and the wiring device equipped with the modular jack are described in detail with reference to the drawings. However, the drawings described in the following embodiments are only schematic diagrams, and the size ratios of the sizes of the components do not necessarily reflect the actual size ratios. In addition, the structure described in the following embodiments is only an example of the present invention. The present invention is not limited to the following embodiments, and various changes can be made according to the design, etc. as long as the effects of the present invention can be achieved.
[0010] (Implementation form) (1) Summary 1 to 17, the modular socket 1 of this embodiment and the wiring device 300 having the modular socket 1 will be described.
[0011] The modular socket 1 of this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 5 , includes a housing cover 20 and a substrate 30 .
[0012] The shell cover 20 is provided with a plug insertion port 23 on the front surface for inserting the modular plug 400 (refer to FIG. 14 ).
[0013] A plurality of first contact members 40 and a plurality of terminals 50 are mounted on the substrate 30 .
[0014] When the modular plug 400 is inserted into the plug insertion port 23 , the plurality of first contacts 40 can respectively contact with the plurality of second contacts 410 of the modular plug 400 .
[0015] The plurality of terminals 50 correspond to the plurality of first contacts 40 in a one-to-one manner. The plurality of terminals 50 can be connected to the core wires W1 of the multi-core cable CB1 having a plurality of pairs of wires formed by twisting two core wires W1.
[0016] A plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8 for electrically connecting a plurality of terminals 50 and a plurality of first contacts 40 are formed on the surface of the substrate 30 .
[0017] The plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8 include a first wiring (e.g., printed wiring E7) and a second wiring (e.g., printed wiring E8) connected to the two core wires W1 included in the pair of wires. A plurality of branch wirings E81 and E82 are provided with both ends electrically connected to each other on at least one of the first wiring and the second wiring (see FIGS. 11, 12, and 13).
[0018] According to this embodiment, by providing a plurality of branch wirings E81 and E82 with both ends electrically connected to each other on at least one of the first wiring and the second wiring, the balance between the first wiring and the second wiring can be adjusted, thereby improving the transmission performance.
[0019] In addition, the modular outlet 1 of the present embodiment is provided with a first comb-tooth type wiring and a second comb-tooth type wiring on the substrate 30. Here, a plurality of comb-tooth type wirings F1 to F82 (refer to FIG. 12) are provided on the substrate 30, one of the two capacitively coupled comb-tooth type wirings F1 to F82 is referred to as the first comb-tooth type wiring, and the other of the two capacitively coupled comb-tooth type wirings F1 to F82 is referred to as the second comb-tooth type wiring. In other words, the first comb-tooth type wiring is electrically connected to the first printed wiring among the plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8; the second comb-tooth type wiring is capacitively coupled to the first comb-tooth type wiring and is electrically connected to the second printed wiring, and the second printed wiring is connected to a pair of wires different from the pair of wires electrically connected to the first printed wiring. In addition, the first comb-tooth type wiring and the second comb-tooth type wiring each have a plurality of linear wiring portions arranged in parallel at predetermined intervals; the plurality of linear wiring portions of the first comb-tooth type wiring are patterned in such a manner that the plurality of linear wiring portions of the second comb-tooth type wiring are engaged with the plurality of linear wiring portions of the second comb-tooth type wiring, thereby forming a capacitor between the first comb-tooth type wiring and the second comb-tooth type wiring.
[0020] Thus, in this embodiment, by providing the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring electrically connected to the first printed wiring and the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring electrically connected to the second printed wiring connected to the pair of wires different from the pair of wires electrically connected to the first printed wiring, a capacitor can be formed between the two, and the possibility of signal crosstalk between the two can be reduced. Therefore, according to this embodiment, a modular socket 1 that seeks to improve transmission performance can be provided.
[0021] (2) Details The modular jack 1 of this embodiment is connected to a multi-core cable CB1, which has a plurality of pairs of wires formed by twisting two core wires W1. That is, the modular jack 1 has a plurality of terminals 50; the plurality of pairs of wires of the multi-core cable CB1 can be connected to the plurality of terminals 50. More specifically, the modular jack 1 of this embodiment is used, for example, in the construction of a computer network, and is used for connecting a LAN cable in accordance with the CAT6A specification with a communication speed of 10 Gbps and a transmission bandwidth of 500 MHz. In this case, the modular jack 1 has eight first contacts 40 and eight terminals 50; the four pairs of wires of the multi-core cable CB1 are connected to the eight terminals 50. That is, one core wire W1 of the corresponding pair of wires is connected to each of the eight terminals 50.
[0022] The wiring device 300 (see FIG. 14 and FIG. 15) equipped with the modular socket 1 is, for example, an embedded wiring device installed in a form of embedding the rear portion into a construction surface 600 such as a wall surface. The wiring device 300 can be attached to and detached from the mounting frame 500 used when the embedded wiring device is installed on the construction surface. The mounting frame 500 shown in the figure is a mounting frame for mounting up to three wiring devices of a unit size. The wiring device 300 of this embodiment is formed in a size that can be mounted up to three on the mounting frame 500 shown in the figure.
[0023] Hereinafter, the modular jack 1 of the present embodiment and the wiring device 300 equipped with the modular jack 1 will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In the following description, the X-axis direction in FIG. 1 and the like is defined as the left-right direction, the Y-axis direction is defined as the front-back direction (depth direction), and the Z-axis direction is defined as the up-down direction. Furthermore, the positive direction of the X-axis direction is defined as the right side, the positive direction of the Y-axis direction is defined as the front side, and the positive direction of the Z-axis direction is defined as the upper side; in the modular jack 1, the surface provided with the plug insertion port 23 is defined as the front surface. However, these directions are only examples, and are not intended to limit the directions of the modular jack 1 and the wiring device 300 when used. For example, the modular jack 1 can also be used in a state where the lower portion defined in the present embodiment is oriented in a direction other than vertically downward (for example, in a state where it is vertically upward). In addition, the arrows indicating the directions in the drawings are only indicated for the purpose of explanation and do not have entities.
[0024] (2.1) Composition (2.1.1) Modular Sockets As described above, the modular socket 1 includes a housing cover 20 , a substrate 30 , and a body 10 . In addition, the modular socket 1 further includes a base 60 and a cover 70 .
[0025] The shell cover 20 is, for example, a molded product of a synthetic resin having electrical insulation properties. A plug insertion port 23 is provided on the front side of the shell cover 20, into which the modular plug 400 can be inserted. The shell cover 20 comprises: a plug connection platform 21 having the plug insertion port 23 provided on the front surface; and a body holding platform 22 protruding rearward from the rear part of the plug connection platform 21.
[0026] The plug connection platform 21 is formed into a box shape with an opening on the rear surface. A flexible piece 24 is provided at the center of each of the left and right sides of the plug connection platform 21 in the vertical direction. A slit is formed around the flexible piece 24, and the rear end of the flexible piece 24 is formed to be able to bend freely in the left and right directions. A locking claw 25 is provided on the outer side of the flexible piece 24. The surface of the locking claw 25 is inclined in the front-back direction in such a way that the protrusion amount from the side of the plug connection platform 21 becomes larger toward the rear.
[0027] The body holding platform 22 protrudes backward from the rear end of the upper part of the plug connection platform 21. The body holding platform 22 has a rectangular plate-shaped upper wall 224 and side walls 221 protruding downward from the left and right side edges of the upper wall 224. A track piece 26 that can contact the top surface of the body 10 is provided on the bottom surface of the upper wall 224 of the body holding platform 22 along the front-to-back direction.
[0028] A flexible sheet 27 (see FIG. 3 ) is provided on the upper part of each of the right side and the left side of the plug connection platform 21. A slit is formed around the flexible sheet 27, and the front end of the flexible sheet 27 is formed to be able to bend freely in the left and right directions. A protrusion 28 is provided on the inner side of the flexible sheet 27, and is inclined in such a way that the protrusion amount toward the inner side becomes larger as it moves toward the front side.
[0029] In addition, a holding groove 29 is formed at the rear of the left and right sides of the main body holding platform 22.
[0030] The substrate 30 (see FIGS. 6 to 8 ) is, for example, a printed wiring substrate. The substrate 30 is formed into a flat plate shape by an electrical insulating material such as glass, epoxy material, paper, or phenolic material. The substrate 30 is provided with: a plurality of holes A1 to A8 (see FIGS. 11 and 12 ) into which the press-in portions 41 of the plurality of first contact members 40 are respectively pressed, and a plurality of holes B1 to B8 into which the plurality of terminals 50 are respectively pressed.
[0031] A plurality of first contacts 40 are mounted on the substrate 30. When the modular plug 400 is inserted into the plug insertion port 23, the plurality of first contacts 40 can respectively contact with a plurality of second contacts 410 (see FIG. 14) provided in the modular plug 400. In addition, a plurality of terminals 50 are mounted on the substrate 30 to be electrically connected to the plurality of first contacts 40. The plurality of core wires W1 provided in the multi-core cable CB1 (see FIG. 17) can be respectively connected to the plurality of terminals 50. More specifically, a plurality of (e.g., 8) first contacts 40 are mounted side by side in the left-right direction on the bottom surface of the front portion of the substrate 30. In addition, a plurality of second contacts 410 are provided on the modular plug 400 to correspond to the plurality of first contacts 40 provided in the modular jack 1 in a one-to-one manner. In addition, on the bottom surface of the rear part of the substrate 30, a plurality of (e.g., 8) terminals 50 are installed in two rows. The plurality of terminals 50 correspond to the plurality of first contact members 40 in a one-to-one manner. On the surface of the substrate 30, a plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8 (refer to FIG. 11 and FIG. 12) are formed to electrically connect the plurality of terminals 50 and the plurality of first contact members 40. The printed wirings E1 to E8 are wirings composed of a conductor layer formed on the surface of the substrate 30 using a printing technique.
[0032] In this embodiment, the number of the first contact members 40 is 8, and the 8 first contact members 40 are assigned pin numbers 1 to 8 in order from the left end. In FIG. 8 , the numbers in parentheses attached to the plurality of first contact members 40 indicate the pin numbers assigned to the plurality of first contact members 40. The plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8 are formed such that the holes A1 to A8 into which the first contact members 40 from 1 to 8 are respectively pressed are electrically connected to the holes B1 to B8 into which the 8 terminals 50 corresponding to the first contact members 40 from 1 to 8 are respectively pressed. In addition, through-hole plating is applied to the inner surfaces of the holes A1 to A8 and the holes B1 to B8. Therefore, the plurality of first contacts 40 respectively pressed into the holes A1 to A8 and the plurality of terminals 50 respectively pressed into the holes B1 to B8 are electrically connected via the printed wirings E1 to E8 .
[0033] In this embodiment, the four pairs of wires are electrically connected to the group of the first contact members 40 of No. 1 and No. 2, the group of the first contact members 40 of No. 3 and No. 6, the group of the first contact members 40 of No. 4 and No. 5, and the group of the first contact members 40 of No. 7 and No. 8, respectively. Therefore, the four pairs of wires are electrically connected to the group of the printed wiring E1 and E2, the group of the printed wiring E3 and E6, the group of the printed wiring E4 and E5, and the group of the printed wiring E7 and E8, respectively.
[0034] Here, in order to improve the balance of two printed wirings connected to one pair of wires, it is preferable to make the wiring lengths of the two printed wirings equal. However, since a plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8 connecting a plurality of first contacts 40 and a plurality of terminals 50 are formed on the substrate 30, there is a possibility that the two printed wirings connected to one pair of wires cannot be made to have the same length. For example, in the case of two printed wirings E7 and E8 connected to the group of first contacts 40 No. 7 and No. 8, the distance between hole A8 and hole B8 is shorter than the distance between hole A7 and hole B7. Therefore, in the case where the printed wiring E7 connects hole A7 and hole B7 with the shortest distance, and the printed wiring E8 connects hole A8 and hole B8 with the shortest distance, the length of the printed wiring E8 is shorter than that of the printed wiring E7, and there is a possibility that the balance is reduced.
[0035] Therefore, in this embodiment, in order to improve the balance of the printed wiring E7 and E8, the printed wiring E8 is composed of two branch wirings E81 and E82 (refer to Figures 11, 12 and 13) with both ends electrically connected. The branch wiring E81 formed on the bottom surface of the substrate 30 does not connect the hole A8 and the hole B8 at the shortest distance, but is a printed wiring that meanders in a U-shaped manner in order to provide a balanced line portion E811 extending parallel to the printed wiring E7 at a fixed distance L10. In this way, the first wiring (printed wiring E7) and the second wiring (printed wiring E8) have balanced line portions E711 and E811 extending parallel to each other at a fixed distance L10, and the capacitance component and inductance component between the first wiring and the second wiring can be adjusted, and the transmission performance required by the CAT6A specification can be achieved, for example. 11, the balanced line portions E711 and E811 provided in the printed wirings E7 and E8, respectively, are illustrated with dots added thereto.
[0036] In addition, as shown in Figure 12, in order to extend the wiring length of the branch wiring E82 formed on the top surface of the substrate 30, the branch wiring E82 is composed of a wiring E821 connecting the hole A8 and the through hole H1 set on the right side of the hole A8, and a wiring E822 connecting the hole B8 and the through hole H1.
[0037] In this way, by configuring the printed wiring E8 with a plurality of branch wirings E81 and E82 and adjusting the length and arrangement of the plurality of branch wirings E81 and E82, the resistance component, capacitance component, and inductance component of the printed wirings E7 and E8 are made equal, thereby improving the balance of the printed wirings E7 and E8. In this way, the reflection loss of the signal passing through the printed wirings E7 and E8 can be reduced, and the possibility of crosstalk between the signal and other pairs of wires can be reduced, so that the transmission performance required by the CAT6A specification can be achieved, for example. That is, in the case where the plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8 include the first wiring and the second wiring connected to the two core wires W1 included in the pair of wires, at least one of the first wiring and the second wiring preferably includes a plurality of branch wirings electrically connected at both ends, so that the balance of the first wiring and the second wiring can be adjusted. In this embodiment, when the printed wiring E7 is used as the first wiring and the printed wiring E8 is used as the second wiring, the printed wiring E8 as the second wiring includes two branch wirings, but may include three or more branch wirings. In addition, the printed wiring E7 as the first wiring may include a plurality of branch wirings; the printed wiring E7 as the first wiring and the printed wiring E8 as the second wiring may both include a plurality of branch wirings. In addition, the two printed wirings connected to the two core wires included in the other pair of wires may include a plurality of branch wirings, and may be appropriately changed in accordance with the layout of the printed wirings.
[0038] In addition, a first comb-tooth type wiring and a second comb-tooth type wiring are preferably provided on the substrate 30. The first comb-tooth type wiring is electrically connected to the first printed wiring among the plurality of printed wirings E1 to E8. The second comb-tooth type wiring is capacitively coupled to the first comb-tooth type wiring and is electrically connected to the second printed wiring, and the second printed wiring is connected to a pair of wires different from the pair of wires electrically connected to the first printed wiring.
[0039] FIG. 12 shows an example of comb-tooth wiring F1 to F81 formed on the substrate 30. In the example shown in the figure, the comb-tooth wiring F1 electrically connected to the printed wiring E1 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F31 electrically connected to the printed wiring E3. The comb-tooth wiring F2 electrically connected to the printed wiring E2 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F51 electrically connected to the printed wiring E5. In addition, the comb-tooth wiring F32 electrically connected to the printed wiring E3 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F52 electrically connected to the printed wiring E5; and the comb-tooth wiring F33 electrically connected to the printed wiring E3 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F43 electrically connected to the printed wiring E4. In addition, the comb-tooth wiring F41 electrically connected to the printed wiring E4 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F61 electrically connected to the printed wiring E6; the comb-tooth wiring F42 electrically connected to the printed wiring E4 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F71 electrically connected to the printed wiring E7. In addition, the comb-tooth wiring F53 electrically connected to the printed wiring E5 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F62 electrically connected to the printed wiring E6. In addition, the comb-tooth wiring F63 electrically connected to the printed wiring E6 is capacitively coupled to the comb-tooth wiring F81 electrically connected to the printed wiring E8.
[0040] In this way, a plurality of comb-tooth-shaped wirings F1 to F82 are provided on the substrate 30, one of the two comb-tooth-shaped wirings F1 to F82 coupled by capacitance is referred to as the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring, and the other of the two comb-tooth-shaped wirings F1 to F82 coupled by capacitance is referred to as the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring. In addition, the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring and the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring each have a plurality of linear wiring portions arranged in parallel at predetermined intervals; the plurality of linear wiring portions of the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring are patterned so as to mesh with the plurality of linear wiring portions of the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring, thereby forming a capacitance between the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring and the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring.
[0041] In this embodiment, by providing the first comb-tooth type wiring electrically connected to the first printed wiring and the second comb-tooth type wiring electrically connected to the "second printed wiring connected to a pair of wires different from the pair of wires electrically connected to the first printed wiring", a capacitor can be formed between the two, and the possibility of signal crosstalk between the two can be reduced. Therefore, according to this embodiment, a modular jack 1 that seeks to improve transmission performance can be provided, and the transmission performance required by the CAT6A standard can be achieved. In addition, if the first comb-tooth type wiring has a plurality of linear wiring portions arranged in parallel at a predetermined interval, the second comb-tooth type wiring may have only one linear wiring portion "inserted into the plurality of linear wiring portions of the first comb-tooth type wiring". Furthermore, if the second comb-teeth wiring has a plurality of linear wiring portions arranged in parallel at predetermined intervals, the first comb-teeth wiring may have only one linear wiring portion "inserted into the plurality of linear wiring portions of the second comb-teeth wiring".
[0042] In addition, the first comb-tooth type wiring and the second comb-tooth type wiring are preferably formed on the surface of the substrate 30 which is opposite to the mounting surface on which the plurality of first contacts 40 are mounted. By forming the first comb-tooth type wiring and the second comb-tooth type wiring together on one surface (for example, the top surface) of the substrate 30, there is an advantage that pattern design can be simplified.
[0043] The substrate 30 is fixed to the body 10 in a state where the mounting surfaces of the plurality of first contacts 40 and the plurality of terminals 50 face downward.
[0044] The plurality of first contacts 40 are formed, for example, by performing a stamping process on a sheet metal.
[0045] Each of the plurality of first contact members 40 has a press-in portion 41, which is press-fitted and fixed to the holes A1 to A8 provided on the substrate 30. The press-in portions 41 of the first contact members 40 No. 1 to No. 8 are connected to the holes A1 to A8 of the substrate 30, respectively. The press-in portion 41 is, for example, a press-fit terminal in the shape of a hole opened in the press-in portion. When the press-in portion 41 is pressed into the holes A1 to A8 of the substrate 30, the press-in portion 41 is deformed in such a way that the hole of the press-in portion 41 is flattened, thereby firmly fixing the first contact member 40 to the substrate 30. In addition, in the present embodiment, the shape of the holes A1 to A8 is, for example, an oblong. Since the shape of the holes A1 to A8 is an oblong, the corners of the press-in portion 41 contact the inner surface of the oblong holes A1 to A8, compared to the case where the shape of the holes A1 to A8 is a perfect circle, so the press-in portion 41 becomes less likely to rotate, and the position of the front end side of the contact spring portion 42 becomes less likely to shift. Therefore, there are advantages such as a stable electrical connection state between the plurality of first contact members 40 and the plurality of second contact members 410. In addition, in the present embodiment, the shape of the holes A1 to A8 is, for example, an oblong with arc processing applied to the four corners of the square hole, but the holes A1 to A8 may be an ellipse other than a perfect circle, and the shape may be appropriately changed.
[0046] In addition, each of the plurality of first contact members 40 has a pair of protrusions 411, which protrude from the base of the press-in portion 41 in opposite directions along a direction intersecting the press-in direction. When the press-in portion 41 is pressed and fixed to the holes A1 to A8, the pair of protrusions 411 can contact the surface of the substrate 30. By making the pair of protrusions 411 protruding from the base of the press-in portion 41 contact the surface of the substrate 30, there are advantages such as the direction of the press-in portion 41 becomes less likely to deviate, and the position of the front end side of the contact spring portion 42 becomes less likely to deviate.
[0047] In addition, each of the plurality of first contacts 40 has a contact spring portion 42 electrically connected to the second contact 410 of the modular plug 400. An L-shaped bent portion 421 protruding downward is provided in the middle portion in the front-rear direction of the contact spring portion 42. When the modular plug 400 is inserted into the plug insertion port 23, the second contact 410 of the modular plug 400 is electrically connected to the bent portion 421 of the first contact 40.
[0048] Here, the plurality of first contacts 40 include a plurality of (for example, three) third contacts 43 and a plurality of (for example, five) fourth contacts 44. The plurality of third contacts 43 are connected to the substrate 30 at a connection position close to the plug insertion port 23 relative to the portion (bend 421) contacting the second contact 410. The plurality of fourth contacts 44 are connected to the substrate 30 at a connection position on the opposite side of the plug insertion port 23 relative to the portion (bend 421) contacting the second contact 410. In other words, the plurality of (for example, three) third contacts 43 are fixed to the substrate 30 by pressing the press-in portion 41 disposed on the front side relative to the bend 421 into the holes A3, A5, and A7 of the substrate 30. The plurality of (for example, three) third contacts 43 protrude rearward from the connection position with the substrate 30. In addition, the plurality of (e.g., five) fourth contacts 44 are fixed to the substrate 30 by pressing the press-in portion 41 disposed on the rear side relative to the bent portion 421 into the holes A1, A2, A4, A6, and A8 of the substrate 30. The plurality of (e.g., five) fourth contacts 44 protrude forward from the connection position with the substrate 30, and they protrude in the opposite direction to the plurality of third contacts 43. In the case where the plurality of first contacts 40 are connected to the substrate 30 on the side close to the plug insertion port 23 or on the opposite side relative to the portion (bent portion 421) contacting the second contact 410, if the position where a part of the first contacts 40 is connected to the substrate 30 is different from the position where the other part of the first contacts 40 is connected to the substrate 30, the length of the part of the first contacts 40 is different from the length of the other part of the first contacts 40. In contrast, in this embodiment, the plurality of third contacts 43 are fixed to the substrate 30 at a connection position close to the plug insertion port 23 relative to the portion in contact with the second contact 410; the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are connected to the substrate 30 at a connection position on the opposite side of the plug insertion port 23 relative to the portion in contact with the second contact 410, so that the length of the plurality of third contacts 43 and the length of the plurality of fourth contacts 44 can be set to the same level. Therefore, there are advantages such as reducing the capacitance component generated between the plurality of third contacts 43 and the plurality of fourth contacts 44, and reducing the crosstalk of signals. []
[0049] Thus, in the present embodiment, the connection position where the plurality of third contacts 43 are connected to the substrate 30 is different from the connection position where the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are connected to the substrate in the front-back direction. In addition, two of the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are located at both ends of the arrangement direction (e.g., left-right direction) of the plurality of first contacts 40. The connection position of the two of the plurality of fourth contacts 44 located at both ends is different from the connection position of the fourth contacts 44 other than the two of the plurality of fourth contacts 44 located at both ends in the front-back direction. Specifically, the connection position where the plurality of third contacts 43 are connected to the substrate 30 is different from the connection position where the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are connected to the substrate 30 in the front-back direction. Furthermore, among the plurality of fourth contacts 44, the connection positions of the two fourth contacts 44 located at both ends in the left-right direction and the substrate 30 are also different in the front-back direction from the connection positions of the remaining three fourth contacts 44 and the substrate 30. In this way, by making the connection positions of a part of the first contacts 40 and the connection positions of another part of the first contacts 40 different in the front-back direction, there is an advantage that the operation of pressing the first contacts 40 into the substrate 30 becomes easier than when the connection positions of the plurality of first contacts 40 are the same in the front-back direction.
[0050] In addition, in the present embodiment, the plurality of third contacts 43 and the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are alternately arranged in parallel in the direction intersecting the front-rear direction. Here, the third contacts 43 connected to the substrate 30 at the connection position close to the plug insertion port 23 relative to the portion contacting the second contacts 410, and the fourth contacts 44 connected to the substrate 30 at the connection position on the opposite side of the plug insertion port 23 relative to the portion contacting the second contacts 410, are alternately arranged in parallel in the direction intersecting the front-rear direction (left-right direction). Therefore, compared with the case where the connection positions where the plurality of first contacts 40 and the substrate 30 are connected are the same position in the front-rear direction, there is an advantage that the operation of pressing the plurality of third contacts 43 and the plurality of fourth contacts 44 into the substrate 30 becomes easier.
[0051] In addition, in the arrangement direction of the plurality of first contacts 40, the lengths of the two first contacts 40 located at both ends are set to be longer than the lengths of the other first contacts 40. In other words, the lengths of the two fourth contacts 44 located at both ends among the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are set to be longer than the lengths of the fourth contacts 44 other than the two fourth contacts 44 located at both ends. In this embodiment, the first contacts 40 located at both ends in the arrangement direction (left-right direction) are the fourth contacts 44; the connection positions of the fourth contacts 44 located at both ends are located farther from the position of contact with the second contact 410 than the connection positions of the other three fourth contacts 44. Therefore, the lengths of the fourth contacts 44 located at both ends become longer than the lengths of the other three fourth contacts 44, and in this embodiment, become longer than the lengths of the three third contacts 43. As such, the first contacts 40 (fourth contacts 44) located at both ends are longer than the other first contacts 40, so the spring constant of the first contacts 40 (fourth contacts 44) located at both ends can be reduced. In the case of a 6-pole modular plug being inserted incorrectly, the first contacts 40 (fourth contacts 44) located at both ends are likely to bend significantly compared to the case where an 8-pole modular plug is connected to the plug insertion port 23. In this embodiment, since the spring constant of the first contacts 40 (fourth contacts 44) located at both ends is made smaller than the other first contacts 40, even in the case of a 6-pole modular plug being inserted incorrectly, the possibility of plastic deformation of the first contacts 40 (fourth contacts 44) located at both ends can be reduced, and the reliability of the electrical connection with the second contacts 410 can be improved.
[0052] Here, the plurality of third contacts 43 and the plurality of fourth contacts 44 are alternately arranged in a direction intersecting the front-rear direction (e.g., the left-right direction). More specifically, the third contacts 43 and the fifth fourth contacts 44 are mounted on the bottom surface of the substrate 30 in such a manner that the third contacts 43 and the fourth contacts 44 are alternately arranged in the left-right direction, with the fourth contacts 44 being arranged at both ends in the left-right direction. In this way, since the third contacts 43 and the fourth contacts 44 are alternately arranged in the left-right direction, there are advantages such as that the pair of protrusions 411 protruding from the base of the press-fitting portion 41 are less likely to interfere with each other, and the operation of press-fitting the plurality of first contacts 40 is easier to perform.
[0053] In addition, the modular socket 1 of this embodiment further includes a pedestal 60 disposed between the plurality of first contacts 40 and the substrate 30 .
[0054] The pedestal 60 is formed into a flat plate shape by a synthetic resin having electrical insulation properties. A pair of protrusions 66 are provided on the top surface of the pedestal 60. A pair of through holes 34 (see FIG. 8 ) are provided on the substrate 30 into which the pair of protrusions 66 of the pedestal 60 are respectively inserted. Therefore, by inserting the pair of protrusions 66 of the pedestal 60 into the pair of through holes 34 of the substrate 30, the pedestal 60 is fixed in a state of being positioned with respect to the substrate 30. The pedestal 60 is mounted on the substrate 30 in a manner of being sandwiched between the plurality of first contacts 40 (including the plurality of third contacts 43 and the plurality of fourth contacts 44) and the substrate 30.
[0055] Three grooves 61 are formed at the front end of the bottom surface of the base 60, into which parts of the three third contacts 43 are respectively inserted. A through portion 63 consisting of a through hole that penetrates the base 60 in the vertical direction is provided at a position corresponding to each of the front ends of the three third contacts 43.
[0056] In addition, five grooves 62 are formed at the rear end of the bottom surface of the base 60, into which a part of each of the five fourth contacts 44 is inserted. In addition, in the base 60, at positions corresponding to the front end of one fourth contact 44 at the right end and the front end of two fourth contacts 44 at the left end, a through portion 64 is provided that penetrates the base 60 in the vertical direction. The through portion 64 is formed by forming a shape in which a notch is hollowed out of the corner of the base 60. In addition, in the base 60, at positions corresponding to the front end of the second and third fourth contacts 44 from the right end among the five fourth contacts 44, a through portion 65 consisting of a through hole that penetrates the base 60 in the vertical direction is provided.
[0057] In this way, the pedestal 60 is provided with a plurality of grooves 61 and 62 corresponding to the plurality of first contacts 40 in a one-to-one manner. A portion of the corresponding first contact 40 among the plurality of first contacts 40 is inserted into each of the plurality of grooves 61 and 62. A portion of the contact spring portion 42 of the plurality of first contacts 40 (the plurality of third contacts 43 and the plurality of fourth contacts 44) is inserted into the groove 61 or 62. More specifically, a portion between "a portion in contact with the second contact 410" and "a portion connected to the substrate 30" of the corresponding first contact 40 among the plurality of first contacts 40 is inserted into each of the plurality of grooves 61 and 62. In other words, a portion between the bent portion 421 and the press-fit portion 41 of the contact spring portion 42 of the first contact 40 is inserted into the groove 61 or 62. In this way, since a part of the contact spring portion 42 is inserted into the groove portion 61 or 62, the position of the plurality of first contact members 40 becomes difficult to shift in the left-right direction. Therefore, the bent portions 421 of the plurality of third contact members 43 and the plurality of fourth contact members 44 become difficult to shift in the left-right direction, so that the plurality of third contact members 43 and the plurality of fourth contact members 44 can reliably contact the plurality of second contact members 410.
[0058] In addition, the pedestal 60 is provided with through-portions 63, 64, and 65 that penetrate the pedestal 60 at the locations facing the respective front end portions of the plurality of first contact members 40. Therefore, even if the plurality of first contact members 40 (including the plurality of third contact members 43 and the plurality of fourth contact members 44) are bent toward the pedestal 60 due to contact with the plurality of second contact members 410, the possibility of deformation of the front end portions of the plurality of first contact members 40 due to contact with the pedestal 60 can be reduced.
[0059] In addition, in the present embodiment, the portion of the base 60 that supports the plurality of third contact members 43 and the portion that supports the plurality of fourth contact members 44 are integrated together. Therefore, compared with the case where the portion that supports the plurality of third contact members 43 and the portion that supports the plurality of fourth contact members 44 are prepared separately, the area in contact with the substrate 30 can be increased, and the positional deviation of the base 60 can be suppressed.
[0060] Each of the plurality of terminals 50 has a press-fit terminal that is pressed into the holes B1 to B8 of the substrate 30. In addition, each of the plurality of terminals 50 has a crimping slit 51 at the bottom. The crimping slit 51 is formed in the shape of a double-branched fork that cuts upward from the center of the bottom side of the terminal 50. The inner edge of the double-branched crimping slit 51 is formed in a manner that becomes thinner toward the front end. Therefore, in a state where the core wire W1 of the multi-core cable CB1 is arranged on the lower side of the crimping slit 51 of each terminal 50, if a thrust is applied to the core wire W1 from the front end to the base of the crimping slit 51, the insulation coating of the core wire W1 is cut by the inner edge of the crimping slit 51, so that the conductor portion of the core wire W1 introduced into the crimping slit 51 is held in the crimping slit 51. In short, when the core wire W1 is aligned with the crimping slit 51 of the terminal 50 in a manner extending in the thickness direction of the terminal 50, the insulation coating of the core wire W1 can be cut off and the conductor part of the core wire W1 can be connected to the terminal 50 by simply applying a thrust from the lower end to the upper end of the terminal 50 to the core wire W1. This terminal structure is known as an IDC terminal.
[0061] The body 10 is, for example, a molded product of a synthetic resin having insulating properties. The body 10 is mounted on the cover 20 while holding the substrate 30. The substrate 30 is disposed on the top surface of the body 10. Support protrusions 19B and 19C are provided on the left and right edges of the body 10 to position the substrate 30 in the left-right direction and the front-back direction by contacting the side surface of the substrate 30. In addition, hook portions 19A are provided on the left and right edges of the body 10 to position the substrate 30 in the up-down direction by hooking the edge portion of the top surface of the substrate 30. Therefore, by making the support protrusions 19B and 19C contact the left and right side surfaces of the substrate 30 disposed on the top surface of the body 10, the hook portions 19A hook the edge portion of the top surface of the substrate 30, and the substrate 30 is held in a state of being positioned relative to the body 10.
[0062] A flat insertion portion 17 is provided on the front side of the body 10, and is inserted into a recess 211 provided on the upper part of the plug connection platform 21 (see FIG. 3). On the bottom surface of the insertion portion 17, a plurality of through holes 171 in a slit shape are provided at positions corresponding to the plurality of first contact members 40, for inserting the plurality of first contact members 40. Therefore, when the substrate 30 is fixed to the body 10, the plurality of first contact members 40 protrude downward from the corresponding through holes 171 (see FIG. 3). In addition, the plurality of first contact members 40 can restrict the contact spring portion 42 from further moving downward by hooking the front end portion of the contact spring portion 42 on the edge portion of the through hole 171.
[0063] Terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B are provided at the rear of the body 10, protruding downward from the left and right sides, respectively. Four terminals 50 are inserted into the left and right terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, respectively. Four insertion grooves 16 are provided on the left and right terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, respectively, to expose the crimping slits 51 of the four terminals 50, respectively.
[0064] The main body 10 has a recess 12 into which the end of the multi-core cable CB1 can be inserted through an opening 11 on the first end side (e.g., the lower side) in a direction intersecting the front-rear direction. More specifically, in the main body 10, a recess 12 into which the end of the multi-core cable CB1 is inserted is formed between the left and right terminal retaining platforms 15A and 15B. The space between the lower ends of the left and right terminal retaining platforms 15A and 15B serves as the opening 11 of the recess 12. For example, the end of the multi-core cable CB1 can be inserted into the recess 12 of the main body 10 through the opening 11. Here, the direction intersecting the front-rear direction is, for example, a direction orthogonal to the front-rear direction. In addition, the direction orthogonal to the front-rear direction is not limited to the two directions intersecting at right angles, and the intersection angle of the two directions may be offset from 90 degrees by several degrees (e.g., less than 10 degrees). When the main body 11 is configured so that the opening 11 faces downward, the direction intersecting the front-to-back direction is, for example, the up-down direction; the first end side of the direction intersecting the front-to-back direction becomes the lower side, and the second end side opposite to the first end side in the direction intersecting the front-to-back direction becomes the upper side.
[0065] In addition, at the rear of the left and right terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, the first protrusions 13 and the second protrusions 14 are arranged one by one in the front-back direction on the first side surface 111 (e.g., the inner side surface of the right terminal holding platform 15A) and the second side surface 112 (e.g., the inner side surface of the left terminal holding platform 15B) located on both sides of the opening 11. That is, in the main body 10, the first protrusions 13 and the second protrusions 14 that contact the multi-core cable CB1 inserted into the storage space 121 from below are arranged at intervals in the front-back direction.
[0066] Here, the interval L2 between the pair of second protrusions 14 provided on the first side surface 111 and the second side surface 112 is wider than the interval L1 between the pair of first protrusions 13 provided on the first side surface 111 and the second side surface 112. In the present embodiment, the pair of first protrusions 13 and the pair of second protrusions 14 are arranged in such a manner that the pair of second protrusions 14 having a wider interval than the pair of first protrusions 13 are located further back than the pair of first protrusions 13. That is, the pair of first protrusions 13 are located further forward than the pair of second protrusions 14. Since the pair of second protrusions 14 are located further back than the pair of first protrusions 13, the multi-core cable CB1 having a large diameter can be temporarily held by the pair of second protrusions 14 located on the back side.
[0067] In addition, each of the pair of first protrusions 13 is provided with an inclined surface 13A such that "in the direction intersecting the front-rear direction, the interval between the ends on the first end side (e.g., the lower side) is wider than the interval between the ends on the second end side (e.g., the upper side) opposite to the first end." Each of the pair of second protrusions 14 is provided with an inclined surface 14A such that "the interval between the ends on the first end side (e.g., the lower side) is wider than the interval between the ends on the second end side (e.g., the upper side). In other words, each of the pair of first protrusions 13 is provided with an inclined surface 13A such that "the interval between the ends on the opening 11 side of the pair of first protrusions 13 is wider than the interval between the ends on the storage space 121 side of the pair of first protrusions 13." In addition, the pair of second protrusions 14 are each provided with an inclined surface 14A in which "the interval between the ends of the pair of second protrusions 14 on the opening 11 side is wider than the interval between the ends of the pair of second protrusions 14 on the storage space 121 side". Therefore, when the sheath OS1 of the multi-core cable CB1 is pushed into the storage space 121 from the opening 11, the sheath OS1 of the multi-core cable CB1 is introduced into the storage space 121 along the inclined surface 13A or 14A, so the operation of pushing the multi-core cable CB1 into the storage space 121 can be easily performed.
[0068] In addition, a pair of first clamping pieces 181 protruding in an arch shape are provided on the left and right inner walls of the main body 10, on the upper side of the pair of first protrusions 13. In addition, a pair of second clamping pieces 182 protruding in an arch shape are provided on the left and right inner walls of the main body 10, on the upper side of the pair of second protrusions 14. That is, the main body 10 is provided with a pair of first clamping pieces 181 and a pair of second clamping pieces 182 that respectively clamp the multi-core cable CB1 disposed in the storage space 121 from the left and right sides. That is, the main body 10 is provided with a pair of first clamping pieces 181 that respectively clamp the multi-core cable CB1 disposed in the storage space 121 from the left and right sides, and a pair of second clamping pieces 182 that respectively clamp the multi-core cable CB1 disposed in the storage space 121 from the left and right sides. In addition, the interval L4 between the pair of second clamping pieces 182 is wider than the interval L3 between the pair of first clamping pieces 181. Here, the pair of first clamping pieces 181 are located further forward than the pair of second clamping pieces 182. Further, the interval L3 between the pair of first clamping pieces 181 is wider than the interval L1 between the pair of first protrusions 13, and the interval between the pair of second clamping pieces 182 is wider than the interval L2 between the pair of second protrusions 14.
[0069] Thus, in the main body 10, a pair of first protrusions 13 and a pair of second protrusions 14 are provided on the side of the opening 11 for the storage space 121 for storing the end of the multi-core cable CB1. Therefore, when the end of the multi-core cable CB1 is inserted into the storage space 121, the multi-core cable CB1 can be prevented from slipping out of the storage space 121 by making the pair of first protrusions 13 or the pair of second protrusions 14 contact the end of the multi-core cable CB1.
[0070] Here, the interval L1 between the pair of first protrusions 13 is narrower than the interval L2 between the pair of second protrusions 14, so that a plurality of multi-core cables CB1 having different diameters can be held by the pair of first protrusions 13 or the pair of second protrusions 14. For example, the diameter of the multi-core cable CB1 according to the CAT6A specification is larger than that of the multi-core cable CB1 according to the CAT5 or CAT6 specification. The interval L1 between the pair of first protrusions 13 is set to a size smaller than the diameter of the multi-core cable CB1 according to the CAT5 or CAT6 specification. In addition, the interval L2 between the pair of second protrusions 14 is set to a size larger than the diameter of the multi-core cable CB1 according to the CAT5 or CAT6 specification and smaller than the diameter of the multi-core cable CB1 according to the CAT6A specification. Therefore, when the multi-core cable CB1 according to the CAT5 or CAT6 specification is connected to the modular jack 1, the multi-core cable CB1 can be held by the pair of first protrusions 13. Furthermore, when a multi-core cable CB1 conforming to the CAT6A specification is connected to the modular jack 1, the multi-core cable CB1 can be held by the pair of second protrusions 14. Thus, the modular jack 1 of this embodiment can hold a plurality of multi-core cables CB1 having different diameters, and the workability of connecting the multi-core cables CB1 having a plurality of different diameters can be improved.
[0071] (2.1.2) Wiring equipment 14 to 16, etc., the wiring device 300 having the above-mentioned modular socket 1 will be described.
[0072] The wiring device 300 includes: a modular socket 1; and an adapter 100, which holds the modular socket 1 and can be installed on an installation member (such as an installation frame 500) used to install the wiring device 300 on a construction surface 600. In addition, the wiring device 300 further includes a door block 150 for opening and closing the plug insertion port 23.
[0073] The adapter 100 is a molded product of a synthetic resin which is an electrical insulating material.
[0074] The adapter 100 comprises: a rectangular frame-shaped front frame portion 101 into which the plug connection platform 21 of the modular socket 1 is inserted, and a cover portion 102 extending from the top surface portion of the front frame portion 101 to the rear.
[0075] The front frame 101 is formed in a rectangular tube shape that penetrates in the front-back direction. On the left and right inner side surfaces of the front frame 101, there are provided engagement grooves 103 that are hooked by the locking claws 25 provided on the left and right side surfaces of the plug connection platform 21. When the plug connection platform 21 of the modular jack 1 is inserted into the interior of the front frame 101 from the rear and the locking claws 25 are hooked in the engagement grooves 103, the rearward movement of the modular jack 1 is restricted. In addition, the protrusions 212 provided on the left and right side surfaces of the plug connection platform 21 contact the step portions 104 provided on the left and right inner side surfaces of the front frame 101 from the rear side, thereby restricting the forward movement of the modular jack 1. In addition, by making the upper, lower, left and right side surfaces of the plug connection platform 21 contact the inner side surface of the front frame 101, the position of the plug connection platform 21 is positioned in the left-right direction and the upper-lower direction. Thus, the modular jack 1 is held on the front frame 101 of the adapter 100 in a state where its movement in the front-rear direction, the left-right direction, and the up-down direction is restricted. In addition, when the modular jack 1 is held on the front frame 101 of the adapter 100, the top surface of the rear portion of the modular jack 1 contacts the bottom surface of the cover 102.
[0076] On the left and right outer sides of the front frame portion 101, there are provided shoulders 105 extending outward from a position slightly set back from the front surface of the front frame portion 101. On the left and right shoulders 105, there are respectively provided a pair of mounting claws 106 for mounting to the mounting frame 500.
[0077] A door block 150 is installed on the front surface of the front frame portion 101 . The door block 150 includes door bodies 155 and 156 for opening and closing the plug insertion port 23 of the modular socket 1 .
[0078] The door block 150 has a flat box-shaped body 151 with an open rear surface. The body 151 has a rectangular front wall 152 and side walls 153 protruding rearward from four sides of the front wall 152.
[0079] A pair of locking hooks 160 protruding rearward are provided on the left and right side walls 153. The door block 150 is mounted to the front side of the adapter 100 by fitting the pair of locking hooks 160 provided on the left and right side walls 153 into the pair of fitting holes 107 provided on the left and right sides of the front frame 101.
[0080] A plug insertion port 154 into which the modular plug 400 can be inserted is provided on the front wall 152 of the door block 150 at a position overlapping with the plug insertion port 23 of the modular socket 1 in the front-back direction. The door block 150 has two door bodies 155 and 156 for opening and closing the plug insertion port 154. The two door bodies 155 and 156 are fixed to the door block 150 in a state that they can slide in the up-down direction. The lower door body 156 is arranged further rearward than the upper door body 155. A protrusion 157 protruding forward is provided on the lower door body 156. The lower door body 156 is pushed downward by a coil spring provided on the door block 150.
[0081] When the lower door 156 slides downward due to the spring force of the coil spring, the upper door 155 is also pulled downward by the lower door 156, and the plug insertion port 154 is closed by the two door bodies 155 and 156. By closing the plug insertion port 154 with the two door bodies 155 and 156, foreign matter or dust is prevented from entering the plug insertion port 23.
[0082] If the protrusion 157 of the lower door 156 is pushed upward, the lower door 156 slides upward, and when the protrusion 157 hits the upper door 155, the upper door 155 also slides upward. If the doors 155 and 156 are slid upward until the protrusion 157 hits the upper edge of the plug insertion port 154, the plug insertion port 154 is completely open, and the modular plug 400 can be inserted into the plug insertion port 23 of the modular socket 1 through the plug insertion port 154.
[0083] The cover 70 is provided for carrying out the operation of connecting the plurality of core wires W1 of the multi-core cable CB1 to the crimping slits 51 of the plurality of terminals 50 , respectively.
[0084] On the top surface of the cover 70, eight push pieces 71 are provided at the positions facing the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, respectively, and they can be inserted into the insertion grooves 16 provided with four grooves in the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, respectively. The eight push pieces 71 are provided with grooves 72 into which the front ends (lower ends) of the terminals 50 are inserted.
[0085] In addition, a clip 73 is provided on each of the left and right sides of the cover 70. A locking hole 74 is provided on the upper part of the clip 73, and a gripping portion 75 is provided on the lower part of the clip 73. The clip 73 is supported on the cover 70 via a hinge 76 provided in the middle part in the up-down direction; the distance between the lower ends of the left and right clips 73 is variable. That is, if the gripping portions 75 of the left and right clips 73 are gripped with fingers and an external force is applied so that the distance between the left and right gripping portions 75 is close, the distance between the upper ends of the left and right clips 73 is widened; if the external force is removed, the distance between the upper ends of the left and right clips 73 is restored to its original state due to the elasticity of the hinge 76.
[0086] The protrusions 81 provided on the outer side surfaces of the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B of the body 10 can be inserted into the locking holes 74 provided on the clip 73. When the eight push pieces 71 provided on the cover 70 are respectively inserted into the insertion grooves 16 provided with four lines each on the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, and the cover 70 is pressed against the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, the protrusions 81 are inserted into the locking holes 74, so that the cover 70 is fixed to the body 10. When the cover 70 is fixed to the body 10, the push pieces 71 prevent the core wire W1 from floating, thereby preventing the core wire W1 from loosening.
[0087] In addition, in order to remove the cover 70 installed on the main body 10, if the gripping portion 75 is pinched with fingers so that the distance between the gripping portions 75 of the left and right clips 73 is reduced, the locking hole 74 is disengaged from the protrusion 81, and the cover 70 can be removed from the main body 10.
[0088] In addition, a push-in piece 77 is formed on the cover 70, and is inserted into a portion of the recess 12 that does not interfere with the multi-core cable CB1 when the cover 70 is mounted on the body 10. The push-in piece 77 can be inserted into the insertion groove 16, and has a larger protruding dimension than the push-in piece 71, and has a groove 78 that is deeper than the groove 72 formed in the push-in piece 71. After the core wire W1 of the multi-core cable CB1 is inserted into the insertion groove 16, if the core wire W1 is deeply pushed into the insertion groove 16 by the push-in piece 77, the insulation coating of the core wire W1 is cut by the crimping slit 51 of the terminal 50, and the conductor part of the core wire W1 is pressed against the crimping slit 51 of the terminal 50.
[0089] (2.1.3) Installation frame The mounting frame (mounting member) 500 is, for example, a mounting frame for a large rectangular continuous type wiring device standardized by JIS C 8375. The mounting frame 500 shown in FIG. 14 and FIG. 15 is a three-piece (one-piece) mounting frame used when mounting a large rectangular continuous type wiring device on a construction surface 600. The mounting frame 500 is made of synthetic resin and is formed into a rectangular frame shape by left and right sides 502 and 503, an upper side 504 connecting the upper ends of the left and right sides 502 and 503, and a lower side 505 connecting the lower ends of the left and right sides 502 and 503. Three sets of engaging holes 510 are provided in groups of two on the left and right sides 502 and 503, and these engaging holes 510 engage with a pair of mounting claws 106 provided on the left and right shoulders 105 of the adapter 100, respectively. In addition, for example, a flexible sheet 506 is formed on the right side 502, and it can bend in a manner of changing the distance between it and the left side 503.
[0090] Long holes 511 are provided on the upper side 504 and the lower side 505 for passing fixing screws (not shown) for connecting the mounting frame 500 to the switch box buried in the construction surface 600. In addition, screw holes 512 are provided on the upper side 504 and the lower side 505 for locking plate screws (not shown) for connecting the cosmetic cover plate (not shown) covering the front surface of the mounting frame 500. When the cosmetic cover plate is installed on the mounting frame 500, the front wall 152 of the door block 150 is exposed from the hole in the center of the cosmetic cover plate.
[0091] (2.2) Assembly method of modular sockets and wiring devices The following is an explanation of the assembly method of the modular socket 1.
[0092] The pedestal 60 is mounted on the bottom surface of the substrate 30 by inserting a pair of protrusions 66 of the pedestal 60 into a pair of through holes 34 of the substrate 30 from the bottom side.
[0093] Then, by respectively pressing the plurality of first contacts 40 into the plurality of holes A1 to A8 of the substrate 30 and respectively pressing the plurality of terminals 50 into the plurality of holes B1 to B8, the plurality of terminals 50 and the plurality of first contacts 40 are fixed to the substrate 30. At this time, the press-in portions 41 of the three third contacts 43 of the plurality of first contacts 40 are pressed into the three holes A3, A5, and A7 of the substrate 30 which are arranged further forward than the mounting position of the base 60; the bases of the three third contacts 43 are inserted into the groove 61 of the base 60. In addition, the press-in portions 41 of five fourth contact members 44 among the plurality of first contact members 40 are pressed into five holes A1, A2, A4, A6, and A8 in the substrate 30 which are arranged further rearward than the mounting position of the base 60; the bases of the five fourth contact members 44 are inserted into the groove 62 on the rear side of the base 60.
[0094] Next, the substrate 30 is placed on the top surface of the body 10 with the surface on which the plurality of terminals 50 and the plurality of first contacts 40 are mounted facing downward. At this time, two support protrusions 19B and 19C are respectively provided on the left and right sides of the body 10, and they abut against the step portions 32 and 33 provided on the left and right sides of the substrate 30, thereby positioning the substrate 30 relative to the body 10 in the front-back direction and the left-right direction. In addition, the hook portions 19A provided on the left and right sides of the body 10 hook on the upper end portions of the left and right sides of the substrate 30, thereby positioning the substrate 30 relative to the body 10 in the up-down direction. In this way, the substrate 30 is fixed to the body 10. In the state where the substrate 30 is fixed to the body 10, the plurality of first contacts 40 protrude downward from the plurality of through holes 171 provided in the body 10. In addition, when the substrate 30 is held in the body 10, the four terminals 50 disposed on the right side of the substrate 30 are inserted into the terminal holding platform 15A on the right side, so that the four terminals 50 are arranged at positions corresponding to the four insertion grooves 16. In addition, the four terminals 50 disposed on the left side of the substrate 30 are inserted into the terminal holding platform 15B on the left side, so that the four terminals 50 are arranged at positions corresponding to the four insertion grooves 16.
[0095] Next, in a state where the top surface of the substrate 30 contacts the track piece 26 provided on the bottom surface of the body holding platform 22, the body 10 holding the substrate 30 is moved forward, and the insertion portion 17 of the body 10 is inserted into the recess 211 of the plug connection platform 21. When the insertion portion 17 is pushed into a predetermined position in the recess 211, the protrusions 28 of the flexure piece 27 provided on the left and right sides of the plug connection platform 21 respectively pass over the supporting protrusions 19B of the body 10 and hook on the supporting protrusions 19B, thereby limiting the movement of the body 10 backward. In addition, step portions 172 are provided on the left and right sides of the bottom surface of the insertion portion 17; by contacting the step portions 172 with the corner portions 213 provided on the left and right inner walls of the plug connection platform 21, the movement of the insertion portion 17 in the up-down direction and the left-right direction is limited. In addition, a protrusion 19D protruding forward is provided at the upper end of the supporting protrusion 19C of the body 10; when the inserting portion 17 is pushed into the predetermined position in the recess 211, the protrusion 19D is inserted into the retaining groove 29 provided at the rear of the body retaining platform 22, thereby limiting the movement of the body 10 in the up-down direction and the left-right direction. In this way, the body 10 is installed in the shell cover 20.
[0096] Here, the first engaging portion is constituted by the protrusion 19D and the step portion 172, etc., and the second engaging portion is constituted by the retaining groove 29 into which the protrusion 19D is inserted and the corner portion 213 into which the step portion 172 contacts. In this way, the first engaging portion provided on the body 10 is engaged with the second engaging portion provided on the cover 20, so that the body 10 and the cover 20 are combined. In this embodiment, the first engaging portion is constituted by the protrusion 19D, the step portion 172, etc., and the second engaging portion is constituted by the retaining groove 29, the corner portion 213, etc., but the configurations of the first engaging portion and the second engaging portion can be appropriately changed.
[0097] In addition, when the body 10 and the shell cover 20 are combined, the left and right side walls 221 of the body holding platform 22 are in contact with the top surfaces of the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B in the body 10. The left and right side walls 221 serve as abutment portions that contact a portion of the body 10 when the body 10 and the shell cover 20 are combined. In addition, a protrusion 222 having a predetermined width in the left and right directions is protruded downward from the left and right side walls 221; this protrusion 222 is in contact with the front end surfaces of the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B. That is, when the body 10 and the shell cover 20 are combined, the abutment portion (the side wall 221 in this embodiment) that contacts a portion of the body 10 and the protrusion 222 that protrudes from the abutment portion and contacts the end of the body 10 are provided in the shell cover 20. In this way, the shell cover 20 is provided with a protrusion 222 of a predetermined width protruding from the contact portion, and the protrusion 222 is brought into contact with the front end portions of the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B of the body 10, so that the strength of the shell cover 20 can be improved. Therefore, even if an external force is applied to the multi-core cable CB1 connected to the modular jack 1, and an external force is generated to push the rear portion of the body 10 downward, the external force applied to the shell cover 20 can be received by the contact portion and the protrusion 222, and deformation of the shell cover 20 can be suppressed. In addition, in the present embodiment, the contact portion is composed of the left and right side walls 221 of the body holding platform 22, and the protrusion 222 is composed of the protrusion 222 protruding downward from the left and right side walls 221, but the configuration of the contact portion and the protrusion 222 can be appropriately changed.
[0098] In addition, the corners of the abutment portion and the protrusion portion of the shell cover 20 are preferably rounded. That is, the corners of the side wall 221 as the abutment portion and the protrusion 222 as the protrusion portion of the shell cover 20 are preferably rounded to reduce the possibility of stress concentration at the corners of the side wall 221 and the protrusion 222.
[0099] In addition, in this embodiment, the main body 10 and the shell cover 20 are provided with fitting parts on both the front and rear sides by sandwiching the protrusion 222 as the protrusion. For example, the first fitting part includes a first fitting structure formed by the protrusion 19D and a second fitting structure formed by the step difference part 172. In addition, the second fitting part includes a third fitting structure formed by the retaining groove 29 that fits with the protrusion 19D, and a fourth fitting structure formed by the corner part 213 that fits with the step difference part 172. That is, the first fitting part includes a first fitting structure and a second fitting structure; the second fitting part includes a third fitting structure that fits with the first fitting structure, and a fourth fitting structure that fits with the second fitting structure. In addition, when the main body 10 and the shell cover 20 are combined, the protrusion 222 is located between the "first fitting structure and the third fitting structure" and the "second fitting structure and the fourth fitting structure". Even if an external force is applied to the multi-core cable CB1 connected to the modular jack 1, and an external force is applied from the body 10 to the shell cover 20, the shell cover 20 is not easily deformed, so there is an advantage that the connection between the body 10 and the shell cover 20 is not easily loosened. In addition, the first fitting structure, the second fitting structure, the third fitting structure, and the fourth fitting structure are not limited to the above-mentioned structures, and can be appropriately changed.
[0100] Then, when the eight push pieces 71 of the cover 70 are respectively inserted into the four insertion grooves 16 provided on the terminal retaining platforms 15A and 15B, and the cover 70 is pressed against the terminal retaining platforms 15A and 15B, the protrusions 81 are embedded in the locking holes 74, and the cover 70 is installed on the main body 10.
[0101] Next, the assembly method of the wiring device 300 having the modular socket 1 is described.
[0102] When the plug connection platform 21 of the modular socket 1 is inserted from the rear side into the front frame 101 of the adapter 100, the upper, lower, left and right side surfaces of the plug connection platform 21 contact the inner side walls of the front frame 101, thereby restricting the movement of the plug connection platform 21 in the vertical direction and the left and right direction. Then, when the plug connection platform 21 is moved to a predetermined position of the front frame 101, the left and right locking claws 25 of the plug connection platform 21 are hooked in the locking grooves 103 provided on the left and right inner side walls of the front frame 101, thereby restricting the rearward movement of the plug connection platform 21. In this way, the modular socket 1 is fixed to the adapter 100.
[0103] Then, the door block 150 is brought close to the front frame 101 of the adapter 100 from the front, and when the four engaging hooks 160 are aligned with the four fitting holes 107, the door block 150 is pushed into the front frame 101, so that the engaging hooks 160 are inserted into the fitting holes 107. At this time, the door block 150 is fixed to the front frame 101 by hooking the engaging hooks 160 on the edge of the fitting holes 107, and the assembly of the wiring device 300 is completed.
[0104] (2.3) How to connect multi-core cables to modular sockets Hereinafter, a method for connecting the plurality of core wires W1 of the multi-core cable CB1 to the plurality of terminals 50 provided in the modular socket 1 will be described.
[0105] When connecting the plurality of core wires W1 of the multi-core cable CB1 to the plurality of terminals 50 provided in the modular jack 1, as shown in FIG17, the sheath OS1 of the front end portion of the multi-core cable CB1 is stripped off to expose the plurality of (e.g., eight) core wires W1. Furthermore, the cover 70 is removed from the body 10 to expose the four insertion grooves 16 provided in the terminal holding bases 15A and 15B, respectively.
[0106] Then, if the end of the sheath OS1 of the multi-core cable CB1 is pushed from the opening 11 of the body 10 to the recess 12, the sheath OS1 passes over the pair of first protrusions 13 or the pair of second protrusions 14 and enters the recess 12. At this time, the multi-core cable CB1 is temporarily held in the body 10 by making the pair of first protrusions 13 or the pair of second protrusions 14 contact the sheath OS1 of the multi-core cable CB1.
[0107] With the multi-core cable CB1 temporarily held in the body 10, four pairs of eight core wires W1 are inserted into the insertion grooves 16 provided with four core wires in the left and right terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, respectively. Each core wire W1 is inserted into the insertion groove 16 so as to extend along the thickness direction of the terminal 50 disposed in the insertion groove 16.
[0108] When the core wires W1 are inserted into the eight insertion grooves 16 one by one, if the core wires W1 are pushed into the crimping slit 51 from the front end side to the base end side one by one by the push-in piece 77 of the cover 70, the insulation coating of the core wires W1 is cut by the inner edge of the crimping slit 51, and the conductor portion of the core wire W1 introduced into the crimping slit 51 is held in the crimping slit 51. If all the core wires W1 are pushed into the crimping slit 51 from the front end side to the base end side by the push-in piece 77 of the cover 70, all the core wires W1 are connected to the corresponding terminals 50. In a state where the core wires W1 are connected to the plurality of terminals 50, if the eight push pieces 71 provided on the cover 70 are respectively inserted into the insertion grooves 16 provided with four grooves on the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, and the cover 70 is pressed against the terminal holding platforms 15A and 15B, the protrusions 81 are inserted into the locking holes 74, and the cover 70 is held on the body 10. By holding the cover 70 on the body 10, the possibility of the plurality of core wires W1 connected to the plurality of terminals 50 being loosened from the corresponding terminals 50 can be reduced.
[0109] (2.4) Installation method of wiring equipment on the construction surface Hereinafter, a method for installing the wiring device 300 connected to the modular socket 1 with the multi-core cable CB1 on the construction surface using the installation frame 500 will be described.
[0110] When the wiring device 300 is mounted on the mounting frame 500, the pair of mounting claws 106 on the left side of the adapter 100 are inserted into the engagement holes 510 of the left side 503 from the rear of the mounting frame 500. When the right side of the adapter 100 is pushed forward while the mounting claws 106 on the left side are inserted into the engagement holes 510 of the side 503, the bending piece 506 is bent by the pair of mounting claws 106 on the right side of the adapter 100, thereby engaging the pair of mounting claws 106 on the right side of the adapter 100 with the engagement holes 510 of the right side 502. In this way, the pair of mounting claws 106 provided on the left and right sides of the adapter 100 are engaged with the pair of engagement holes 510 on the side 502 and 503, respectively, and the modular outlet 1 is mounted on the mounting frame 500. In this installed state, the front surface of the door block 150 installed on the front side of the adapter 100 protrudes forward from the opening 501 surrounded by the side edges 502 and 503 , the upper side edge 504 , and the lower side edge 505 .
[0111] When the modular plug 400 is connected to the modular socket 1, for example, the protrusion 157 of the door body 156 is pushed upward with the front end of the modular plug 400, so that the doors 155 and 156 are moved upward, and the plug insertion port 154 is opened. When the plug insertion port 154 is opened, if the modular plug 400 is inserted into the plug insertion port 23 of the modular socket 1 through the plug insertion port 154, the plurality of second contacts 410 of the modular plug 400 and the plurality of first contacts 40 of the modular socket 1 are connected.
[0112] When the wiring device 300 is removed from the mounting frame 500, the bending piece 506 is bent outward by inserting a tool between the bending piece 506 and the side 502 from the front. When the bending piece 506 is bent outward, the mounting claw 106 is loosened and removed from the engaging hole 510, so that the adapter 100 can be removed from the mounting frame 500.
[0113] (3) Modification The above-mentioned embodiment is only one example of various embodiments of the present invention. If the above-mentioned embodiment can achieve the purpose of the present invention, various changes can be made according to the design, etc.
[0114] In the above-described embodiment, three or more pairs of protrusions having different intervals therebetween may be provided as the protrusions that contact the multi-core cable CB1 disposed in the storage space 121 from the opening 11 side.
[0115] Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, as the clamping pieces for clamping the multi-core cable CB1 disposed in the storage space 121 from both sides, three or more pairs of clamping pieces having different intervals therebetween may be provided.
[0116] In the embodiment, the modular socket 1 includes the first contact pieces 40 with eight poles, but the number of the first contact pieces 40 may be four poles or six poles, and may be changed appropriately.
[0117] The wiring device of the above-mentioned embodiment includes the door block 150 for opening and closing the plug insertion port 23, but the door block 150 is not an essential component and can be changed appropriately.
[0118] In the above-mentioned embodiment, the modular socket 1 is applied to the wiring device 300 installed on the construction surface such as the wall, but the modular socket 1 can also be applied to a communication cabinet that accommodates a plurality of wiring panels in which a plurality of modular sockets 1 are installed side by side.
[0119] (in conclusion) From the above-described embodiments, the following aspects are disclosed.
[0120] A modular socket (1) of the first embodiment comprises a shell cover (20) and a substrate (30). A plug insertion port (23) into which a modular plug (400) can be inserted is provided on the front surface of the shell cover (20). A plurality of first contact pieces (40) and a plurality of terminals (50) are mounted on the substrate (30). The plurality of first contact pieces (40) can respectively contact with a plurality of second contact pieces (410) provided in the modular plug (400) when the modular plug (400) is inserted into the plug insertion port (23). The plurality of terminals (50) correspond to the plurality of first contact pieces (40) in a one-to-one manner. The plurality of terminals (50) can be connected to a core wire (W1) of a multi-core cable (CB1) having a plurality of pairs of wires formed by twisting two core wires (W1) together. A plurality of printed wirings (E1-E8) are formed on the surface of a substrate (30) to electrically connect a plurality of terminals (50) and a plurality of first contact members (40). The plurality of printed wirings (E1-E8) include a first wiring (E7) and a second wiring (E8) connected to two core wires (W1) included in a pair of wires. At least one of the first wiring (E7) and the second wiring (E8) is provided with a plurality of branch wirings (E81, E82) electrically connected at both ends.
[0121] According to this aspect, by providing a plurality of branch wirings (E81, E82) electrically connected at both ends on at least one of the first wiring (E7) and the second wiring (E8), the balance between the first wiring (E7) and the second wiring (E8) can be adjusted, thereby pursuing an improvement in transmission performance.
[0122] The modular socket (1) of the second aspect is that in the first aspect, the first wiring (E7) and the second wiring (E8) each have a balanced line portion (E711, E811) extending in parallel at a fixed distance.
[0123] According to this aspect, by setting the balanced line parts (E711, E811), the balance of the first wiring (E7) and the second wiring (E8) can be adjusted.
[0124] The modular socket (1) of the third aspect is provided with a first comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) and a second comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) on a substrate (30) in the first or second aspect. The first comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) is electrically connected to a first printed wiring (E1-E8) among a plurality of printed wirings (E1-E8). The second comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) is capacitively coupled to the first comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) and is connected to the second printed wiring (E1-E8), and the second printed wiring (E1-E8) is electrically connected to a pair of wires different from the pair of wires electrically connected to the first printed wiring (E1-E8).
[0125] According to this aspect, by providing the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring (F1-F82) and the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring (F1-F82), a capacitor can be formed between the two, which can reduce the possibility of signal crosstalk between the two.
[0126] The modular socket (1) of the fourth aspect is a modular socket (1) according to the third aspect, wherein the first comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) and the second comb-tooth type wiring (F1-F82) are formed in a substrate (30) on a surface opposite to a mounting surface on which a plurality of first contact members (40) are mounted.
[0127] According to this aspect, the pattern design for forming the first comb-tooth-shaped wiring (F1-F82) and the second comb-tooth-shaped wiring (F1-F82) can be easily performed.
[0128] The modular socket (1) of the fifth aspect is that in any aspect of the first to fourth aspects, the connection position where the first contact pieces (40) of one part of the plurality of first contact pieces (40) are connected to the substrate (30) and the connection position where the first contact pieces (40) of another part of the plurality of first contact pieces (40) are connected to the substrate (30) are at different positions in the front-rear direction.
[0129] According to this aspect, compared with the situation where the connection positions of the plurality of first contact members (40) are made the same in the front-rear direction, the operation of pressing the first contact member (40) into the substrate (30) becomes easier to perform and the assembly workability is improved.
[0130] The modular socket (1) of the sixth aspect is a modular socket (1) of the fifth aspect, wherein the lengths of two first contact pieces (40) located at two ends of the plurality of first contact pieces (40) are longer than the lengths of the other first contact pieces (40).
[0131] According to this aspect, since the first contact pieces (40) at the two ends are longer than other first contact pieces (40), the spring constant of the first contact pieces (40) at the two ends can be reduced. In the case where a modular plug with a small number of poles is mistakenly inserted into the plug insertion port (23), the first contact pieces (40) at the two ends are likely to bend significantly compared to the case where a standard modular plug is connected to the plug insertion port (23). According to this aspect, since the spring constant of the first contact pieces (40) at the two ends is smaller than other first contact pieces (40), even in the case where a modular plug with a small number of poles is mistakenly inserted, the possibility of plastic deformation of the first contact pieces (40) at the two ends can be reduced. Therefore, the reliability of the electrical connection with the second contact piece (410) can be improved.
[0132] The modular socket (1) of the seventh aspect is any one of the first to sixth aspects, wherein the plurality of first contact members (40) include a plurality of third contact members (43) and a plurality of fourth contact members (44). The plurality of third contact members (43) are connected to the substrate (30) at a connection position close to the plug insertion port (23) relative to the portion contacting the second contact member (410). The plurality of fourth contact members (44) are connected to the substrate (30) at a connection position on the opposite side of the plug insertion port (23) relative to the portion contacting the second contact member (410).
[0133] According to this aspect, the plurality of third contact pieces (43) are fixed to the substrate (30) at a connection position close to the plug insertion port (23) relative to the portion contacting the second contact piece (410); the plurality of fourth contact pieces (44) are connected to the substrate (30) at a connection position on the opposite side of the plug insertion port (23) relative to the portion contacting the second contact piece (410), so that the length of the plurality of third contact pieces (43) and the length of the plurality of fourth contact pieces (44) can be set to the same extent. Therefore, the advantages of reducing the capacitance component generated between the plurality of third contact pieces (43) and the plurality of fourth contact pieces (44) and reducing the crosstalk of signals are achieved.
[0134] The modular socket (1) of the eighth aspect is that, in the seventh aspect, a plurality of third contact pieces (43) and a plurality of fourth contact pieces (44) are alternately arranged side by side in a direction intersecting the front-rear direction.
[0135] According to this aspect, the operation of pressing a plurality of third contact members (43) and a plurality of fourth contact members (44) into the substrate (30) becomes easier to perform, and the assembly workability is improved.
[0136] The modular socket (1) of the ninth aspect comprises a shell cover (20) and a substrate (30). A plug insertion port (23) into which a modular plug (400) can be inserted is provided on the front surface of the shell cover (20). A plurality of first contact pieces (40) and a plurality of terminals (50) are mounted on the substrate (30). The plurality of first contact pieces (40) can respectively contact with a plurality of second contact pieces (410) provided in the modular plug (400) inserted into the plug insertion port (23).
