AI Technical Summary
Existing wireless communication systems face challenges in efficiently managing uplink cancellations to avoid interference between high-priority and low-priority communications, particularly due to timing differences and propagation delays that can lead to unreliable and increased latency in high-priority communications.
Implementing an offset value to adjust the timing of uplink resource cancellation decisions, considering timing advance values and uplink processing times, allowing UEs to cancel low-priority communications earlier to avoid interfering with high-priority ones, thereby improving reliability and reducing latency.
The proposed solution effectively reduces interference and enhances the reliability and latency performance of high-priority communications by ensuring timely cancellation of low-priority uplink transmissions.

Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] This patent application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 982,424, filed February 27, 2020, entitled "Determining Time Domain Resources for Uplink Cancellation," and assigns it to the assignee. The disclosure of that earlier application is considered part of this patent application and is incorporated herein by reference.
[0002] The contents of this case generally relate to wireless communication and the technology and apparatus for determining time-domain resources for uplink cancellation. [Previous Technology]
[0003] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various telecommunications services such as telephone, video, data, messaging, and broadcasting. Typical wireless communication systems may employ multiplexing access technologies that support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., bandwidth, transmission power). Examples of such multiplexing access technologies include Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA), Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA), and Long Term Evolution (LTE). LTE / LTE-Enhanced is a set of enhancements to the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) mobile service standard released by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
[0004] A wireless communication network may include multiple base stations (BSs) capable of supporting communication for multiple user equipments (UEs). User equipments (UEs) may communicate with base stations (BSs) via downlinks and uplinks. A downlink (or forward link) represents the communication link from the BS to the UE, while an uplink (or reverse link) represents the communication link from the UE to the BS. As will be described in more detail herein, a BS may be referred to as a Node B, gNB, Access Point (AP), Radio Headend, Transmitter Receiver Point (TRP), New Radio (NR) BS, 5G Node B, etc.
[0005] The above multiplexing access technologies have been adopted in various telecommunications standards to provide a common protocol that enables different user equipment to communicate at the city, country, region, and even global levels. New Radio (NR) (which may also be referred to as 5G) is a set of enhancements to the LTE mobile service standard released by 3GPP. NR is designed to better integrate with other open standards by improving spectrum efficiency, reducing costs, improving service, utilizing new spectrum, and using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) with Cyclic Prefix (CP) on the downlink (DL) and CP-OFDM and / or SC-FDM (e.g., also known as Discrete Fourier Transform Spread Spectrum OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM)) on the uplink (UL), thereby better supporting mobile broadband internet access, as well as beamforming, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology, and carrier aggregation. However, with the continued growth in demand for mobile broadband access, there is a need for further improvements to the LTE and NR technology landscape. Preferably, these improvements should be applicable to other multiplexing access technologies and telecommunications standards that employ such technologies. [Summary of the Invention]

[0017] Various apparatuses and techniques will now be used to provide several embodiments of a telecommunications system. These apparatuses and techniques will be described in detail below in terms of various blocks, modules, components, circuits, steps, processes, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as "elements"), and illustrated in the accompanying drawings. These elements can be implemented using hardware, software, or a combination thereof. Whether such an element is implemented as hardware or software depends on the specific application and the design constraints imposed on the overall system.
[0018] Figure 1 is a diagram illustrating various forms of wireless network 100 in which the present invention can be implemented. Wireless network 100 may be an LTE network or some other wireless network (e.g., a 5G or New Radio (NR) network). Wireless network 100 may include multiple BS 110s (shown as BS 110a, BS 110b, BS 110c, and BS 110d) and other network entities. A BS is an entity that communicates with a user equipment (UE) and may also be referred to as a base station, NR BS, Node B, gNB, 5G Node B (NB), Access Point, Transmitter Receiver Point (TRP), etc. Each BS can provide communication coverage for a specific geographic area. In 3GPP, the term "cell" may represent the coverage area of a BS and / or the BS subsystem serving that coverage area, depending on the context in which the term is used.
[0019] A BS can provide communication coverage for macrocells, picocells, femtocells, and / or another type of cell. A macrocell can cover a relatively large geographic area (e.g., a radius of several kilometers) and can allow unrestricted access by UEs with a service subscription. A picocell can cover a relatively small geographic area and can allow unrestricted access by UEs with a service subscription. A femtocell can cover a relatively small geographic area (e.g., a residential area) and can allow restricted access by UEs associated with that femtocell (e.g., UEs in a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG)). A BS for macrocells can be referred to as a macro BS. A BS for picocells can be referred to as a pico BS. A BS for femtocells can be referred to as a femto BS or a home BS. In the example illustrated in Figure 1, BS 110a can be a macro BS for macrocell 102a, BS 110b can be a pico BS for picocell 102b, and BS 110c can be a femto BS for femtocell 102c. A BS can support one or more (e.g., three) cells. The terms "eNB", "base station", "NR BS", "gNB", "TRP", "AP", "node B", "5G NB" and "cell" are used interchangeably in this document.
[0020] In some states, the cell may not be stationary, and the geographical area of the cell may move depending on the location of the active BS. In some states, the BS may be interconnected with each other and / or with one or more other BSs or network nodes (not shown) in the wireless network 100 via various types of backhaul interfaces (e.g., direct physical connections, virtual networks, and / or similar interfaces using any suitable transport network).
[0021] The wireless network 100 may also include a relay station. A relay station is an entity that can receive data transmissions from an upstream station (e.g., a BS or a UE) and send data transmissions to a downstream station (e.g., a UE or a BS). A relay station may also be a UE capable of relaying transmissions for other UEs. In the example illustrated in Figure 1, relay station 110d can communicate with macro BS 110a and UE 120d to facilitate communication between BS 110a and UE 120d. A relay station may also be referred to as a relay BS, relay base station, relay, etc.
[0022] Wireless network 100 can be a heterogeneous network comprising different types of Base Stations (BSs) (e.g., macro BS, pico BS, femto BS, repeater BS, etc.). These different types of BSs can have different transmission power levels, different coverage areas, and different effects on interference in wireless network 100. For example, macro BSs can have high transmission power levels (e.g., 5 to 40 watts), while pico BSs, femto BSs, and repeater BSs can have lower transmission power levels (e.g., 0.1 to 2 watts).
[0023] The network controller 130 can be coupled to a group of BSs and can provide coordination and control for such BSs. The network controller 130 can communicate with the BSs via backhaul. The BSs can also communicate with each other directly or indirectly, for example, via wireless or wired backhaul.
[0024] UE 120 (e.g., 120a, 120b, 120c) may be distributed throughout the wireless network 100, and each UE may be stationary or mobile. UE may also be referred to as an access terminal, terminal, mobile station, user unit, station, etc. UE may be a cellular telephone (e.g., a smartphone), personal digital assistant (PDA), wireless modem, wireless communication device, handheld device, laptop, wireless telephone, wireless loop (WLL) station, tablet device, camera, gaming device, laptop, smart computer, ultrabook, medical device or apparatus, biometric sensor / device, wearable device (smartwatch, smart clothing, smart glasses, smart wristband, smart jewelry (e.g., smart ring, smart bracelet, etc.)), entertainment device (e.g., music or video device, or satellite radio unit, etc.), vehicle component or sensor, smart instrument / sensor, industrial manufacturing equipment, GPS device, or any other suitable device configured to communicate via wireless or wired media.
[0025] Some UEs can be considered Machine-Type Communication (MTC) or Evolved or Enhanced Machine-Type Communication (eMTC) UEs. MTC and eMTC UEs include, for example, robots, drones, remote devices, sensors, meters, monitors, location tags, etc., which can communicate with a base station, another device (e.g., a remote device), or some other entity. Wireless nodes can provide connectivity to or to a network (e.g., a wide area network such as the Internet or cellular networks) via wired or wireless communication links, for example. Some UEs can be considered Internet of Things (IoT) devices and / or can be implemented as NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) devices. Some UEs can be considered Customer Premises Equipment (CPE). UE 120 can be included within a housing that houses the components of UE 120 (such as processor components, memory components, etc.). In some cases, the processor components and memory components can be coupled together. For example, processor elements (e.g., one or more processors) and memory elements (e.g., memory) can be operatively coupled, communicatively coupled, electronically coupled, electrically coupled, and so on.
[0026] Typically, any number of wireless networks can be deployed in a given geographical area. Each wireless network can support a specific Radio Access Technology (RAT) and can operate on one or more frequencies. RAT can also be referred to as radio technology, air interface, etc. Frequency can also be referred to as carrier, channel, etc. Each frequency can support a single RAT in a given geographical area to avoid interference between wireless networks with different RATs. In some cases, NR or 5G RAT networks can be deployed.
[0027] In some configurations, two or more UEs 120 (e.g., shown as UE 120a and UE 120e) may communicate directly using one or more sidelink channels (e.g., without using base station 110 as an intermediary for communication with each other). For example, UE 120 may communicate using peer-to-peer (P2P) communication, device-to-device (D2D) communication, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) protocols (e.g., which may include vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) protocols, vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) protocols, mesh networks, etc.). In this case, UE 120 may perform scheduling operations, resource selection operations, and / or other operations described herein as being performed by base station 110.
[0028] As noted above, Figure 1 is provided as an example. Other examples may differ from those described with respect to Figure 1.
[0029] Figure 2 illustrates a block diagram of the design 200 of base station 110 and UE 120 (base station 110 and UE 120 can be one of the base stations in Figure 1 and one of the UEs). Base station 110 can be equipped with T antennas 234a to 234t, and UE 120 can be equipped with R antennas 252a to 252r, wherein generally, T≧1 and R≧1.
[0030] At base station 110, transmission processor 220 can receive data for one or more UEs from data source 212, select one or more modulation and coding schemes (MCS) for that UE based at least in part on the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) received from each UE, process (e.g., encode and modulate) the data for that UE based at least in part on the MCS selected for each UE, and provide data symbols for all UEs. Transmission processor 220 can also process system information (e.g., semi-static resource allocation information (SRPI), etc.) and control information (e.g., CQI requests, permission, upper-layer signaling, etc.), and provide management burden symbols and control symbols. Transmission processor 220 can also generate reference symbols for reference signals (e.g., cell-specific reference signals (CRS)) and synchronization signals (e.g., primary synchronization signal (PSS) and secondary synchronization signal (SSS)). The transmit (TX) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) processor 230 can perform spatial processing (e.g., precoding, if applicable) on data symbols, control symbols, management burden symbols, and / or reference symbols, and can provide T output symbol streams to T modulators (MODs) 232a to 232t. Each modulator 232 can (e.g., for OFDM, etc.) process its corresponding output symbol stream to obtain an output sample stream. Each modulator 232 can further process (e.g., convert to analog, amplify, filter, and upconvert) the output sample stream to obtain a downlink signal. The T downlink signals from modulators 232a to 232t can be transmitted via T antennas 234a to 234t respectively. According to the various states described in more detail below, position coding can be used to generate synchronization signals to transmit additional information.
[0031] At UE 120, antennas 252a to 252r can receive downlink signals from base station 110 and / or other base stations, and can provide the received signals to demodulators (DEMODs) 254a to 254r respectively. Each demodulator 254 can adjust (e.g., filter, amplify, downconvert, and digitize) the received signal to obtain an input sample. Each demodulator 254 can further process the input sample (e.g., for OFDM, etc.) to obtain a received symbol. MIMO detector 256 can obtain the received symbols from all R demodulators 254a to 254r, perform MIMO detection on the received symbols (if applicable), and provide the detected symbols. Receiver processor 258 can process (e.g., demodulate and decode) the detected symbols, provide decoded data for UE 120 to data slot 260, and provide decoded control information and system information to controller / processor 280. The channel processor can determine the Received Reference Power (RSRP), Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), Received Reference Quality (RSRQ), Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), etc. In some configurations, one or more components of the UE 120 may be included in the housing.
[0032] On the uplink, at UE 120, transmission processor 264 can receive and process data from data source 262 and control information from controller / processor 280 (e.g., for reports including RSRP, RSSI, RSRQ, CQI, etc.). Transmission processor 264 can also generate reference symbols for one or more reference signals. Symbols from transmission processor 264 can be pre-encoded (if applicable) by TX MIMO processor 266, further processed by modulators 254a to 254r (e.g., for DFT-s-OFDM, CP-OFDM, etc.), and transmitted to base station 110. At base station 110, uplink signals from UE 120 and other UEs can be received by antenna 234, processed by demodulator 232, detected by MIMO detector 236 (if applicable), and further processed by receiver processor 238 to obtain decoded data and control information transmitted by UE 120. The receiver processor 238 can provide decoded data to the data slot 239 and decoded control information to the controller / processor 240. The base station 110 may include a communication unit 244 and communicates with the network controller 130 via the communication unit 244. The network controller 130 may include a communication unit 294, a controller / processor 290, and memory 292.
[0033] The controller / processor 240 of base station 110, the controller / processor 280 of UE 120, and / or any other element in FIG. 2 may execute one or more techniques associated with determining time-domain resources for uplink cancellation, as described in more detail elsewhere herein. For example, the controller / processor 240 of base station 110, the controller / processor 280 of UE 120, and / or any other element in FIG. 2 may execute or direct operations such as process 500 of FIG. 5, process 600 of FIG. 6, and / or other processes as described herein. Memory 242 and 282 may store data and program code for base station 110 and UE 120, respectively. In some embodiments, memory 242 and / or memory 282 may include non-transitory computer-readable media storing one or more instructions for wireless communication. For example, one or more instructions, executed by one or more processors of base station 110 and / or UE 120 (e.g., directly, or after compilation, translation, interpretation, etc.), may execute or direct operations such as process 500 of FIG. 5, process 600 of FIG. 6, and / or other processes described herein. In some cases, the executed instructions may include: execution instructions, translation instructions, compilation instructions, interpretation instructions, etc. Scheduler 246 may schedule data transmissions by the UE on the downlink and / or uplink.
[0034] In some configurations, UE 120 may include: components for determining an offset value for a reference uplink resource associated with an uplink cancellation indication; components for receiving an uplink cancellation indication; components for canceling uplink communication in a set of reference uplink resources, wherein the set of reference uplink resources is determined at least in part based on the offset value and the time-domain resources in which the uplink cancellation indication is received; and so on. In some configurations, these components may include one or more elements of UE 120 described in conjunction with FIG. 2, such as controller / processor 280, transmission processor 264, TX MIMO processor 266, MOD 254, antenna 252, DEMOD 254, MIMO detector 256, receiver processor 258, and so on.
[0035] In some embodiments, base station 110 may include: a component for transmitting configuration messages to the UE, the configuration messages indicating an offset value of a reference uplink resource associated with an uplink cancellation indication; a component for identifying one or more time-domain resources in which uplink communication of the UE is cancelled; a component for transmitting to the UE an uplink cancellation indication of a set of reference uplink resources, the set of reference uplink resources including one or more time-domain resources in which uplink communication will be cancelled, wherein the set of reference uplink resources is based at least in part on the offset value, and the time-domain resources in which the uplink cancellation indication is transmitted; etc. In some embodiments, such components may include one or more elements of base station 110 described in conjunction with FIG. 2, such as antenna 234, DEMOD 232, MIMO detector 236, receiver processor 238, controller / processor 240, transmission processor 220, TX MIMO processor 230, MOD 232, antenna 234, etc.
[0036] As noted above, Figure 2 is provided as an example. Other examples may differ from those described with respect to Figure 2.
[0037] Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating instance 300 of determining the time domain resources used for uplink cancellation without considering timing advance, based on the content of this case.
[0038] The Uplink Cancellation Indication (ULCI) 305, sometimes referred to as the Uplink Preemption Indication (ULPI), can be used to cancel or preempt one or more uplink communications for a UE. For example, a base station may schedule low-priority uplink communications for a UE (e.g., enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) communications) and may later need to schedule high-priority communications (e.g., ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC)) for that UE or another UE. In this case, the base station may cancel the low-priority uplink communications scheduled for the UE (or a group of low-priority uplink communications scheduled for the UE) by transmitting the ULCI 305 to the UE (or to the UE group). Alternatively, the base station may cancel a portion of the low-priority uplink communications (e.g., a portion that overlaps with or conflicts with high-priority communications).
[0039] The UE can receive ULCI 305 before scheduled low-priority communications and can cancel all or part of the scheduled low-priority communications to prevent interference with high-priority communications. Therefore, ULCI 305 enables the base station to schedule high-priority communications on resources previously allocated to low-priority communications and avoids interference with high-priority communications caused by low-priority communications.
[0040] In some cases, the base station may use downlink control information (DCI) with a specific format such as DCI format 2_4 (e.g., physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) communication) to transmit ULCI 305. ULCI 305 can be used to cancel one or more uplink communications previously scheduled for the UE (e.g., on a serving cell that receives the ULCI via which it receives the communication), such as physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) communications (e.g., uplink data communications), probe reference signals (or another type of uplink reference signal), etc. ULCI 305 may indicate (e.g., explicitly or implicitly) a reference uplink resource set 310 (illustrated as TCI symbols) in which the uplink communications will be canceled. The reference uplink resource set 310 may include one or more time-domain resources. In some cases, the reference uplink resource set 310 is referred to as the time-domain resource associated with the cancellation indication and may include multiple symbols represented as TCI (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols).
[0041] The UE can receive ULCI 305 and can determine the reference uplink resource set 310 based at least in part on the time-domain resources in which ULCI 305 is received and the UE's uplink processing time 315. For example, the initial symbol of the reference uplink resource set 310 (e.g., the first or earliest symbol in time) can be the first symbol appearing Tproc,2 symbols after the last symbol of ULCI 305 (e.g., the end of the PDCCH reception of DCI with format 2_4). Here, Tproc,2 represents the UE's uplink processing time 315 (e.g., PUSCH preparation time), such as the time required for the UE to detect ULCI 305 and cancel the corresponding uplink communication (e.g., uplink communication included in the reference uplink resource set 310). As a more specific example, Tproc,2 can represent the PUSCH processing preparation time corresponding to the UE's PUSCH processing capability 2. In some cases, the UE can indicate uplink processing time 315 (e.g., corresponding to PUSCH processing capability 2) to the base station in the UE capability report.
[0042] However, due to propagation delays in communication between the base station and the UE, timing differences may exist between downlink and uplink communication. For example, the internal timing maintained by the UE (e.g., symbol position, symbol boundary, slot position, slot boundary, etc.) may be out of sync with the internal timing maintained by the base station. Timing differences can depend on the UE's position within the cell (e.g., relative to the base station), leading to different propagation delays. To compensate for propagation delays and lack of synchronization, the UE can adjust or advance the transmission time used by the UE for uplink communication. For example, the base station can transmit a timing advance (TA) command to the UE, and the UE can adjust (e.g., advance) the transmission time used for uplink communication according to the TA command (e.g., according to the TA value indicated in the TA command). This enables the base station to receive uplink communication from the UE according to the internal timing maintained by the base station.
[0043] As shown by component symbol 320, when the UE adjusts the transmission time for uplink communication (e.g., included in the reference uplink communication set 310) according to a TA command, the uplink communication may occur earlier if the UE uses internal timing previously stored by the UE before receiving the TA command. As a result, as shown by component symbol 325, the time interval between the UE receiving ULCI 305 and the transmission of the scheduled uplink communication can be reduced. This may result in the time interval being less than the UE uplink processing time for detecting ULCI 305 and canceling uplink communication (e.g., it may be less than the value of Tproc,2). As a result, the UE may not be able to cancel uplink communication (e.g., on one or more symbols in the beginning portion of the reference uplink resource set 310) and may still transmit uplink communication. This may cause interference with higher priority uplink communication (e.g., URLLC communication), thereby reducing reliability and increasing the latency of URLLC communication.
[0044] Some of the techniques and apparatus described herein enable the UE and base station to consider the TA value when canceling uplink communication. For example, the base station can configure an offset value (e.g., d) that can be added to the value of Tproc,2 for the UE to determine the initial symbols used for the reference uplink resource set 310. As a result, the UE may be able to cancel uplink communication that is time-advanced because the starting point of the reference uplink resource set 310 is time-shifted backward by an offset value, which can be the number of symbols that has a greater impact than the TA value. In this way, interference with high-priority uplink communication (e.g., URLLC communication) can be avoided, thereby increasing reliability and reducing latency of URLLC communication.
[0045] As noted above, Figure 3 is provided as an example. Other examples may differ from those described with respect to Figure 3.
[0046] Figure 4 is a diagram illustrating instance 400 of time domain resources used for uplink cancellation based on timing advance considerations in this case.
[0047] As shown in Figure 4, UE 120 can determine an offset value 405 (illustrated as d). UE 120 can use the offset value 405 to determine the reference uplink resource 410 associated with the ULCI (illustrated as ULCI 415). In some configurations, UE 120 can receive an indication of the offset value 405 from base station 110. For example, UE 120 can receive an indication of the offset value 405 in a configuration message such as a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message (e.g., an RRC configuration message or an RRC reconfiguration message). Alternatively or supplementarily, UE 120 can determine the offset value 405 at least in part based on a timing advance value. In some configurations, UE 120 can receive a timing advance value from base station 110. In some configurations, UE 120 can determine the offset value 405 as a value larger than the timing advance value (e.g., the offset value 405 can be set to a value larger than the timing advance value). Therefore, UE 120 can determine the offset value 405 based at least in part on the instructions from base station 110.
[0048] In some configurations, the offset value 405 is indicated by a value representing the number of symbols. In some configurations, the symbol length of each of the number of symbols is determined by the UE 120 based at least in part on the symbol length of the downlink symbols in the downlink bandwidth portion (BWP) on which ULCI 415 is received. For example, in a mixed-value scheme, the downlink symbols and uplink symbols may have different symbol lengths. In this case, the UE 120 can use the symbol length of the downlink symbols to determine the symbol length of the uplink symbols indicated by the offset value 405 to reduce or avoid ambiguity between the UE 120 and the base station 110.
[0049] In some configurations, the offset value 405 is greater than or equal to the maximum timing advance value associated with UE 120. This ensures that UE 120 can perform uplink cancellation after receiving ULCI 415, regardless of the TA and / or propagation delay associated with UE 120. In some configurations, the maximum timing advance value is at least partially based on the size of the serving cell of UE 120 (e.g., a larger maximum TA value for larger cells and a smaller maximum TA for smaller cells). Alternatively or supplementarily, the offset value 405 may be greater than or equal to the maximum timing advance value associated with a group of UEs 120, including UE 120, to which ULCI 415 is transmitted. For example, base station 110 may use group-shared DCI signaling to perform uplink cancellation for a group of UEs 120. In this case, by using an offset value of 405 that is greater than or equal to the maximum timing advance value associated with the group of UE 120, it can be ensured that all UE 120 in the group can perform uplink cancellation after receiving ULCI 415, regardless of the TA and / or propagation delay associated with the UE 120 in the group.
[0050] As further shown in Figure 4, base station 110 can transmit ULCI 415, and UE 120 can receive ULCI 415. In some cases, ULCI 415 is transmitted as or included in a DCI message having a specific DCI format (such as DCI format 2_4). Base station 110 can identify one or more time-domain resources in which one or more uplink communications of UE 120 will be cancelled, and can transmit ULCI 415 to cancel one or more uplink communications.
[0051] As further shown in Figure 4, UE 120 may determine the reference uplink resource set 410 based at least in part on the offset value 405 and the time-domain resources in which ULCI 415 is received. As further shown, UE 120 may determine the reference uplink resource set 410 based at least in part on the time-domain resources in which ULCI 415 is received, the offset value 405, and the uplink processing time 420 associated with UE 120 (e.g., PUSCH preparation time, PUSCH preparation period, or PUSCH preparation procedure time). As an example, the uplink processing time 420 is shown as Tproc,2 in Figure 4, which may correspond to the time required for UE 120 to detect ULCI 415 and cancel subsequent uplink communication. In some cases, the initial symbol (e.g., the earliest appearing symbol) of the reference uplink resource set 410 (illustrated as TCI symbols) is offset from the last symbol (e.g., the most recently appearing symbol) of ULCI 415 by a number of symbols, which is equal to or at least partially based on the uplink processing time 420 of UE 120 plus the offset value 405, as shown in the figure.
[0052] As shown in component symbol 425, in some configurations, UE 120 may determine the reference uplink resource set 410 based at least in part on UE 120’s uplink processing time 420, offset value 405, and logical time or logical symbol index of PDCCH communication carrying ULCI 415 (e.g., DCI format 2_4). For example, the initial symbols of the reference uplink resource set 410 may be offset by the logical symbol index of the last symbol of ULCI 415 by a number of symbols equal to UE 120’s uplink processing time 420 plus offset value 405. To give a more specific example, and as shown in Figure 4, if the uplink processing time 420 of UE 120 is 5 symbols, and the offset value 405 is 2 symbols, and if the last symbol of ULCI 415 has a symbol index of 2, then the initial symbol of the reference uplink resource set 410 has a symbol index of 10 (because there are 5+2=7 symbols between the end of ULCI 415 and the beginning of the reference uplink resource set 410). In this example, the propagation delay is equal to 1 symbol, and TA is equal to 2 symbols, and therefore the actual time interval between the end of ULCI 415 and the beginning of the reference uplink resource set is 5 symbols, which is equal to the uplink processing time 420 and sufficient for UE 120 to cancel uplink communication in the reference uplink resource set 410.
[0053] Based at least in part on the determination of the reference uplink resource set 410, UE 120 may cancel one or more uplink communications in the reference uplink resource set 410 (e.g., one or more uplink communications scheduled to occur in the reference uplink resource set 410). For example, UE 120 may cancel lower priority uplink communications based at least in part on higher priority uplink communications scheduled in the reference uplink resource set 410 (e.g., associated with one or more other UEs 120). The uplink communications to be canceled may include, for example, PUSCH communications or sounding reference signals (SRS).
[0054] Using the techniques described herein, UE 120 can cancel uplink communications that are advanced in time because the starting point of the reference uplink resource set 410 is shifted backward by an offset value 405 in time. In this way, interference with high-priority uplink communications (e.g., URLLC communications) can be avoided, thereby improving reliability and reducing the latency of URLLC communications.
[0055] As noted above, Figure 4 is provided as an example. Other examples may differ from those described with respect to Figure 4.
[0056] Figure 5 is a diagram illustrating an exemplary process 500 performed by a UE, for example, according to the content of this case. The exemplary process 500 is an example in which a UE (e.g., UE 120, etc.) performs an operation associated with determining time-domain resources for uplink cancellation.
[0057] As shown in FIG5, in some configurations, process 500 may include determining an offset value (block 510) for a reference uplink resource to be used in determining the uplink cancellation indication. For example, as described above, the UE (e.g., using receive processor 258, controller / processor 280, memory 282, etc.) may determine an offset value for a reference uplink resource to be used in determining the uplink cancellation indication.
[0058] As further shown in FIG5, in some states, process 500 may include receiving an uplink cancellation indication (block 520). For example, as described above, the UE (e.g., using receive processor 258, controller / processor 280, memory 282, etc.) may receive an uplink cancellation indication.
[0059] As further shown in FIG5, in some states, process 500 may include canceling uplink communication in a reference uplink resource set, wherein the reference uplink resource set is determined at least in part based on an offset value and the time-domain resources in which the uplink cancellation indication is received (block 530). For example, as described above, the UE (e.g., using transport processor 264, controller / processor 280, memory 282, etc.) may cancel uplink communication in the reference uplink resource set. In some states, the reference uplink resource set is determined at least in part based on an offset value and the time-domain resources in which the uplink cancellation indication is received.
[0060] Process 500 may include additional patterns, such as any single pattern or any combination of patterns described below and / or in combination with one or more other processes described elsewhere in this case.
[0061] In the first state, the reference uplink resource set is determined at least in part based on the UE’s uplink processing time.
[0062] In the second state sample, either alone or in combination with the first state sample, the initial symbol of the reference uplink resource set is offset by the number of symbols from the last symbol of the uplink cancellation indication, and the number of symbols is equal to the UE's uplink processing time plus the offset value.
[0063] In the third state, either alone or in combination with one or more states in the first and second states, the uplink processing time is the entity uplink shared channel preparation time corresponding to the time required for the UE to detect the uplink cancellation indication and cancel uplink communication.
[0064] In the fourth state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more of the first to third state samples, the uplink communication includes at least one of entity uplink shared channel communication or probe reference signal.
[0065] In the fifth state sample, an uplink cancellation indication is included in the downlink control information message having format 2_4, either alone or in combination with one or more of the first to fourth state samples.
[0066] In the sixth state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more state samples from the first to the fifth state samples, the offset value is indicated as the number of symbols.
[0067] In the seventh state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more of the first to sixth state samples, the symbol length of each of the number of symbols is determined at least in part based on the symbol length of the downlink symbol in the downlink bandwidth portion on which an uplink cancellation indication is received.
[0068] In the eighth state pattern, either alone or in combination with one or more of the first to seventh state patterns, the downlink symbol has a different symbol length than the uplink symbol configured for the UE.
[0069] In the ninth state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more state samples from the first to the eighth state samples, the offset value is greater than or equal to the maximum timing advance value associated with the UE.
[0070] In the tenth state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more of the first to ninth state samples, the offset value is greater than or equal to the maximum timing advance value associated with the UE group, including the UEs that transmit uplink cancellation indications to it.
[0071] In the eleventh state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more states from the first to the tenth state samples, the maximum timing advance value is at least partially based on the size of the service cell.
[0072] In the twelfth state sample, the offset value is indicated in a configuration message received by the UE, either alone or in combination with one or more of the first to eleventh state samples. For example, the UE may determine the offset value based at least in part on the indication of the offset value received in the configuration message. The configuration message may be a radio resource control message. In some state samples, the offset value is equal to two symbols.
[0073] In the thirteenth state, the uplink communication is cancelled, either alone or in combination with one or more states from the first to the twelfth states, at least in part based on a communication associated with one or more other UEs that has a higher priority than the uplink communication.
[0074] In the fourteenth state, either alone or in combination with one or more states from the first to the thirteenth state, the reference uplink resource set is determined at least in part based on the logical time or logical symbol index of the entity downlink control channel communication carrying the uplink cancellation indication, the UE's uplink processing time, and the offset value.
[0075] In the fifteenth state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more state samples from the first to the fourteenth state samples, the initial symbol of the reference uplink resource set is the logical symbol index offset from the last symbol of the uplink cancellation indication by the number of symbols, which is equal to the UE's uplink processing time plus the offset value.
[0076] In the sixteenth state sample, the offset value is determined, either alone or in combination with one or more states from the first to the fifteenth state samples, based at least in part on the timing advance value.
[0077] In the seventeenth state sample, timing advance value is received from the base station, either alone or in combination with one or more state samples from the first to the sixteenth state samples.
[0078] In the eighteenth state sample, either alone or in combination with one or more state samples from the first to the seventeenth state samples, process 500 includes: determining the offset value to be a value greater than the timing advance value.
[0079] Although FIG5 illustrates exemplary blocks of process 500, in some versions, process 500 may include additional blocks, fewer blocks, different blocks, or blocks arranged differently compared to those illustrated in FIG5. Alternatively or additionally, two or more blocks of process 500 may be executed concurrently.
[0080] Figure 6 is a diagram illustrating an exemplary process 600 performed, for example, by a base station according to the content of this case. Exemplary process 600 is an example in which a base station (e.g., base station 110, etc.) performs operations associated with determining time-domain resources for uplink cancellation.
[0081] As shown in FIG6, in some configurations, process 600 may include transmitting a configuration message to the UE that indicates an offset value of a reference uplink resource associated with the uplink cancellation indication (block 610). [0082] As further shown in FIG6, in some configurations, process 600 may include: identifying one or more time-domain resources in which uplink communication of the UE will be cancelled (block 620). For example, a base station (e.g., using transmission processor 220, receiver processor 238, controller / processor 240, memory 242, etc.) may identify one or more time-domain resources in which uplink communication of the UE will be cancelled, as described above.
[0083] As further shown in FIG6, in some configurations, process 600 may include transmitting an uplink cancellation indication to the UE, the uplink cancellation indication indicating a reference uplink resource set, the reference uplink resource set including one or more time-domain resources in which uplink communication will be cancelled, wherein the reference uplink resource set is indicated at least in part based on an offset value and the time-domain resources in which the uplink cancellation indication is transmitted (block 630). For example, a base station (e.g., using a transmission processor 220, a receiver processor 238, a controller / processor 240, memory 242, etc.) may transmit an uplink cancellation indication to the UE indicating a reference uplink resource set, the reference uplink resource set including one or more time-domain resources in which uplink communication will be cancelled, as described above. In some configurations, the reference uplink resource set is indicated at least in part based on an offset value and the time-domain resources in which the uplink cancellation indication is transmitted.
