[0006] The first support member includes a first hanger mounting portion and a first bearing mounting portion. The first hanger mounting portion is configured to be mounted to a first axial end of a hanger component of a bicycle frame.
[0007] The second support member includes a second hanger mounting portion and a second bearing mounting portion. The second hanger mounting portion is configured to be mounted to a second axial end of the hanger component of the bicycle frame. [0008] The first bearing unit includes a first outer ring, a first inner ring, and at least one first rolling element disposed between the first outer ring and the first inner ring in a radial direction relative to one of the rotational central axes. The first outer ring is configured to be fixed to the first bearing mounting portion of the first support member. The at least one first rolling element has a first center point.
[0009] The second bearing unit includes a second outer ring, a second inner ring, and at least one second rolling element disposed between the second outer ring and the second inner ring in the radial direction. The second outer ring is configured to be fixed to the second bearing mounting portion of the second support member. The second outer ring has a second radially outermost surface facing the radial direction. The second inner ring has a second radially innermost surface facing the radial direction. [0111] The second hanger mounting portion 57a is configured to be mounted to the second axial end 12b of one of the hanger components 11a of the bicycle frame 11. The second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a is opposite to the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a in the axial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1 of one of the bicycle chassis assembly 53.
[0112] The second hanger mounting portion 57a is positioned radially inside the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a in the radial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1 of the bicycle chassis assembly 53. For example, the second hanger mounting portion 57a is formed in a tubular shape.
[0113] The second bearing mounting portion 57b is configured to mount the second bearing unit 62. In this embodiment, the second bearing mounting portion 57b is positioned radially inward of the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a in the radial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1 of the bicycle chassis assembly 53. For example, the second bearing unit 62 is mounted to the second bearing mounting portion 57b by a press-fit method.
[0114] The first bearing unit 61 rotatably supports the crankshaft 51. The first bearing unit 61 includes a first outer ring 61a, a first inner ring 61b, and at least one first rolling element 61c. The at least one first rolling element 61c is disposed between the first outer ring 61a and the first inner ring 61b in a radial direction relative to one of the rotational central axes C1.
[0115] The first outer ring 61a is configured to be fixed to the first bearing mounting portion 55b of the first support member 55. The first outer ring 61a has a first radial outermost surface 61d facing the radial direction.
[0116] The first inner ring 61b faces the crankshaft 51 in the radial direction. The first inner ring 61b rotates integrally with the crankshaft 51. The first inner ring 61b has a first radial innermost surface 61e facing the radial direction. When viewed from the axial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1, the first radial innermost surface 61e is formed in a circular shape.
[0117] At least one first rolling element 61c has a first center point P1. The first center point P1 is defined on a circular line extending in a circumferential direction relative to a rotational central axis C1. Preferably, at least one first rolling element 61c includes a plurality of first rolling elements 61c in this circumferential direction.
[0118] The second bearing unit 62 rotatably supports the crankshaft 51. The second bearing unit 62 includes a second outer ring 62a, a second inner ring 62b, and at least one second rolling element 62c. The at least one second rolling element 62c is radially disposed between the second outer ring 62a and the second inner ring 62b.
[0119] The second outer ring 62a is configured to be fixed to the second bearing mounting portion 57b of the second support member 57. The second outer ring 62a has a second radial outermost surface 62d facing the radial direction.
[0120] The second inner ring 62b faces the crankshaft 51 in the radial direction. The second inner ring 62b rotates integrally with the crankshaft 51.
[0121] A sealing shield 67 may be radially positioned between the first inner ring 61b and the crankshaft 51. The sealing shield 67 rotates integrally with the first inner ring 61b and the crankshaft 51. The sealing shield 67 may be omitted if necessary.
[0122] A sealing shield 68 may be radially positioned between the second inner ring 62b and the crankshaft 51. The sealing shield 68, the second inner ring 62b, and the crankshaft 51 rotate integrally. The sealing shield 68 may be omitted if necessary.
[0123] The second inner ring 62b has a second radial innermost surface 62e facing the radial direction. When viewed from the axial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1, the second radial innermost surface 62e is formed in a circular shape.
[0124] The first radial innermost surface 61e defines a first opening S1. The second radial innermost surface 62e defines a second opening S2. The crankshaft 51 passes through the first opening S1 and the second opening S2.
[0125] The first opening S1 and the second opening S2 are configured such that the crankshaft 51 can be inserted into the bicycle chassis assembly 53 by moving the crankshaft 51 axially from the first opening S1 toward the second opening S2.
[0126] The first opening S1 and the second opening S2 are configured such that the crankshaft 51 can be removed from the bicycle chassis assembly 53 by moving the crankshaft 51 axially from the second opening S2 toward the first opening S1.
[0127] For example, the diameter DS1 of one of the first openings S1 is larger than the diameter DS2 of one of the second openings S2. The inner diameter of one of the innermost radial surfaces of the sealing shield 67 is larger than the inner diameter of one of the innermost radial surfaces of the sealing shield 68. The inner diameter of one of the innermost radial surfaces 61e of the first inner ring 61b is larger than the inner diameter of one of the innermost radial surfaces 62e of the second inner ring 62b.
[0128] At least one second rolling element 62c has a second center point P2. The second center point P2 is defined on a circular line extending in a circumferential direction relative to the rotation center axis C1. Preferably, at least one second rolling element 62c includes a plurality of second rolling elements 62c in the circumferential direction.
[0129] As shown in Figure 2B, a first radial outer ring distance D11 is defined in the radial direction from the rotation center axis C1 to the first radial outermost surface 61d. A second radial outer ring distance D12 is defined in the radial direction from the rotation center axis C1 to the second radial outermost surface 62d. The first radial outer ring distance D11 and the second radial outer ring distance D12 are compared with each other as corresponding items.
[0130] A first radial rolling element distance D21 is defined from the rotation center axis C1 to the first center point P1. A second radial rolling element distance D22 is defined from the rotation center axis C1 to the second center point P2. The first radial rolling element distance D21 and the second radial rolling element distance D22 are compared with each other as corresponding items.
[0131] A first radial inner ring distance D31 is defined in the radial direction from the rotation center axis C1 to the first radial innermost surface 61e. A second radial inner ring distance D32 is defined in the radial direction from the rotation center axis C1 to the second radial innermost surface 62e. The first radial inner ring distance D31 and the second radial inner ring distance D32 are compared with each other as corresponding items.
[0132] At least one of the first radial outer ring distance D11 and the first radial rolling element distance D21 is different from one of the corresponding items of the second radial outer ring distance D12 and the second radial rolling element distance D22.
[0133] For example, the first radial outer ring distance D11 is different from the second radial outer ring distance D12. The first radial rolling element distance D21 is different from the second radial rolling element distance D22. The first radial outer ring distance D11 may be equal to the second radial outer ring distance D12. The first radial rolling element distance D21 may be equal to the second radial rolling element distance D22.
[0134] Specifically, the first radial outer ring distance D11 is greater than the second radial outer ring distance D12. The first radial rolling element distance D21 is greater than the second radial rolling element distance D22.
[0135] The first radial inner ring distance D31 is different from the second radial inner ring distance D32. For example, the first radial inner ring distance D31 is greater than the second radial inner ring distance D32. The first radial inner ring distance D31 can be equal to the second radial inner ring distance D32.
[0136] In the above bicycle base bracket assembly 53, the first hanger mounting portion 55a is threadedly engaged with the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11. The second hanger mounting portion 57a is threadedly engaged with the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0137] The engagement portion of the first hanger mounting portion 55a with one of the first axial ends 12a is indicated by a thick line in Figures 2A and 2B. The engagement portion of the second hanger mounting portion 57a with one of the second axial ends 12b is indicated by a thick line in Figures 2A and 2B.
[0138] [Variations of the First Embodiment]
[0139] (A1) As a variation of the first embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0140] The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be fixed to the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11 by a press-fit method. In other words, the engaging portion of the first hanger mounting portion 55a and the first axial end 12a (indicated by thick lines in Figures 2A and 2B) is press-fitted.
[0141] For example, one of the outer peripheral surfaces of the first hanger mounting portion 55a is press-fitted into the inner peripheral surface of the first axial end 12a without having a thread engagement.
[0142] Preferably, the inner diameter of one of the inner peripheral surfaces of the first axial end 12a is larger than the minor diameter of one of the female threaded components of the second axial end 12b.
[0143] Preferably, the outer diameter of the first hanger mounting portion 55a of the first support member 55 is larger than the minor diameter of one of the male threaded components of the second hanger mounting portion 57a of the second support member 57.
[0144] In this configuration, the second hanger mounting portion 57a is threadedly engaged with the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11. Therefore, the second hanger mounting portion 57a is screwed into the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0145] (A2) As a variation of the first embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0146] The second hanger mounting portion 57a can be fixed to the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11 by a press-fit. In other words, the engaging portion of the second hanger mounting portion 57a and the second axial end 12b (indicated by thick lines in Figures 2A and 2B) is press-fitted.
[0147] For example, the outer peripheral surface of the second hanger mounting portion 57a is press-fitted into the inner peripheral surface of the second axial end 12b without having a thread engagement.
[0148] Preferably, the minor diameter of one of the first female threaded components of the first axial end 12a is larger than the inner diameter of one of the inner peripheral surfaces of the second axial end 12b. Preferably, the outer peripheral surface of one of the second hanger mounting portions 57a of the second support member 57 is smaller than the major diameter of one of the male threaded components of one of the first hanger mounting portions 55a of the first support member 55. Preferably, the outer peripheral surface of the second hanger mounting portion 57a of the second support member 57 is smaller than the minor diameter of the first female threaded component of the first axial end 12a.
[0149] In this configuration, the first hanger mounting portion 55a engages with the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11 via a thread. Therefore, the first hanger mounting portion 55a is screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0150] (A3) As a variation of the first embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows. The first hanger mounting portion 55a and the second hanger mounting portion 57a can be fixed to the first axial end 12a and the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a respectively by a press-fit method.
[0151] (A4) As a variation of the first embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0152] As shown in Figure 2C, the bicycle chassis assembly 53 may further include a tubular sealing member 69. The tubular sealing member 69 is configured to bridge an axial gap between the first inner ring 61b of the first bearing unit 61 and the second inner ring 62b of the second bearing unit 62 in the mounted state of the bicycle chassis assembly 53 to the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0153] In this embodiment, the tubular sealing member 69 covers the first bearing unit 61. The tubular sealing member 69 covers the second inner ring 62b of the second bearing unit 62. The tubular sealing member 69 engages with the sealing shield 68 in a concave-convex manner.
[0154] The tubular sealing member 169 can be configured as shown in Figure 2D. The tubular sealing member 169 covers the first bearing unit 61. The tubular sealing member 169 engages with the second inner ring 62b of the second bearing unit 62 in a concave-convex manner. The second bearing unit 62 is covered by a sealing shield 68.
[0155] The tubular sealing members 69 and 169 are arranged radially inward from the first support member 55 and the second support member 57 relative to the rotation center axis C1 of the bicycle base assembly 53. For example, the tubular sealing members 69 and 169 are arranged radially inward from the first support member 55, the second support member 57 and the first connecting portion 59 relative to the rotation center axis C1.
[0156] Preferably, the tubular sealing members 69, 169 are arranged to prevent any contaminants (such as mud and water) from entering the first bearing unit 61 (for example, the first rolling element 61c). The tubular sealing members 69, 169 are arranged to prevent any contaminants (such as mud and water) from entering the second bearing unit 62 (for example, the second rolling element 62c). [Second Embodiment] []
[0157] The bicycle 1 in the second embodiment has a configuration that is substantially the same as that in the first embodiment. In the second embodiment, the explanation of the identical configuration is omitted. The same symbols as in the above embodiments are added to the components with the identical configuration.
[0158] The bicycle chassis assembly 53 can be configured as follows. As shown in Figure 3A, the bicycle chassis assembly 53 further includes a locking member 70. The locking member 70 is configured to hold the first support member 55 and the second support member 57. Specifically, the locking member 70 is configured to hold the first support member 55, the second support member 57, and the first connecting portion 59.
[0159] The locking member 70 includes an abutting member 70a and a protruding member 70b. The abutting member 70a abuts the second axial end 12b of the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11 in the axial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1 of the bicycle chassis assembly 53. For example, the abutting member 70a is formed in a tubular shape.
[0160] The protruding member 70b protrudes from the adjacent member 70a. For example, the protruding member 70b is formed in a tubular shape. One outer diameter of the protruding member 70b is smaller than one outer diameter of the adjacent member 70a.
[0161] The protruding member 70b is positioned in a radial direction relative to one of the rotation center axes C1 between the second axial end 12b of the hanger member 11a and the second hanger mounting portion 57a. In this embodiment, the second hanger mounting portion 57a can be fixed to the locking member 70 by a press-fit mechanism.
[0162] The protruding part 70b engages threadedly with the second axial end 12b of the hanger part 11a. A male threaded part on the radially outer side of the protruding part 70b is screwed into a female threaded part on the radially inner side of the second axial end 12b. The threaded engagement portion of the protruding part 70b and the second axial end 12b is indicated by a thick line in Figure 3A.
[0163] The protruding member 70b is press-fitted into the second hanger mounting portion 57a. For example, the inner peripheral surface of one of the adjacent members 70a and the inner surface of one of the protruding members 70b are press-fitted into the second hanger mounting portion 57a. The press-fitting portion of the protruding member 70b and one of the second hanger mounting portions 57a is indicated by a thick line in Figure 3A.
[0164] In this case, the first hanger mounting portion 55a may have the same configuration as in the first embodiment described above. For example, the first hanger mounting portion 55a may be screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. The first hanger mounting portion 55a may be press-fitted into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a.
[0165] [Variations of the Second Embodiment]
[0166] (B1) As a variation of the second embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0167] Instead of the press-fit between the second hanger mounting portion 57a and the locking member 70 in the second embodiment shown in Figure 3A, the locking member 70 can be threadedly engaged with the second hanger mounting portion 57a. In this case, the female threaded part on the radially inner side of one of the adjacent parts 70a and the protruding parts 70b is screwed into the male threaded part on the radially outer side of one of the second hanger mounting portions 57a.
[0168] The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. In place of the threaded engagement between the first hanger mounting portion 55a and the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a, the first hanger mounting portion 55a can also be press-fitted into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a.
[0169] (B2) As a variation of the second embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0170] The locking member 70 can be press-fitted into the second axial end 12b of the hanger member 11a in place of the threaded engagement and can be threaded into the second hanger mounting portion 57a (see Figure 3A).
[0171] In this configuration, the outer peripheral surface of the protruding member 70b is press-fitted into the inner peripheral surface of the second axial end 12b. The female threaded parts of the adjacent member 70a and the protruding member 70b are screwed into the male threaded parts of the second hanger mounting portion 57a.
[0172] The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be press-fitted into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a.
[0173] (B3) As a variation of the second embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0174] As shown in Figure 3B, the locking member 70 can be threadedly engaged with the second hanger mounting portion 57a. For example, the locking member 70 is threadedly engaged with the second hanger mounting portion 57a when the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a is threadedly engaged with the second hanger mounting portion 57a.
[0175] In this configuration, the locking member 70 includes an adjacent member 70a but does not have a protruding member 70b. A male threaded member on the radially outer side of the second hanger mounting portion 57a is screwed into a female threaded member on the radially inner side of the second axial end 12b of the hanger member 11a. A female threaded member on the radially inner side of the adjacent member 70a is screwed into a male threaded member on the radially outer side of the second hanger mounting portion 57a.
[0176] The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be press-fitted into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a.
[0177] (B4) As a variation of the second embodiment, it can be the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 of (B3) shown in the following configuration diagram 3B.
[0178] The locking member 70 can be threadedly engaged with the second hanger mounting portion 57a. For example, the locking member 70 includes an adjacent part 70a but does not have a protruding part 70b. The adjacent part 70a of the locking member 70 is threadedly engaged with the second hanger mounting portion 57a in a state where it is press-fitted into one of the second axial ends 12b of the hanger member 11a.
[0179] The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be press-fitted into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a.
[0180] (B5) As a variation of the second embodiment, it can be the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 of (B3) shown in the following configuration diagram 3B.
[0181] The adjacent part 70a of the locking member 70 can be press-fitted into the second hanger mounting part 57a in a state where the second hanger mounting part 57a is press-fitted into one of the second axial ends 12b of the hanger member 11a.
[0182] The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be screwed into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. The first hanger mounting portion 55a can be press-fitted into the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a. [Third Embodiment] []
[0183] The bicycle 1 in the third embodiment has a configuration similar to that in the above embodiments. In the third embodiment, the explanation of the same configuration is omitted. The same symbols as in the above embodiments are added to the components with the same configuration.
[0184] As shown in Figure 4A, the first support member 55 has a first axial inner end 55c. The first axial inner end 55c is configured to be positioned within the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11 in one of the installation states of the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 being mounted to the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0185] The first axial inner end 55c is provided as part of the first hanger mounting portion 55a. The first axial inner end 55c is formed in a tubular shape.
[0186] The first support member 55 further has a first abutting surface 55d. The first abutting surface 55d abuts the first axial end 12a of the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0187] The second support member 57 has a second axial inner end 57c. The second axial inner end 57c is configured to be positioned within the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11 in the mounted state where the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 is mounted to the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0188] The second axial inner end 57c is provided as part of the second hanger mounting portion 57a. The second axial inner end 57c is formed in a tubular shape.
[0189] The second support member 57 further has a second abutment surface 57d. The second abutment surface 57d abuts the second axial end 12b of the hanger member 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0190] In the installed state where the bicycle frame 11 hanger component 11a is mounted to the bicycle frame 11, the hanger component 11a is positioned between the first adjacent surface 55d and the second adjacent surface 57d. [0191] The first hanger mounting portion 55a of the first support member 55 can be mounted to the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11 in the same manner as in the above embodiment. The second hanger mounting portion 57a of the second support member 57 can be mounted to the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11 in the same manner as in the above embodiment.
[0192] The first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and the second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 are separated from each other in the axial direction when the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 is installed on the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0193] For example, the first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and the second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 are arranged at a predetermined interval in the axial direction.
[0194] The bicycle chassis assembly 53 further includes a second connecting tubular member 60. The second connecting tubular member 60 is configured to bridge an axial gap between a first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and a second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 in the installed state.
[0195] The connecting tubular member 60 is housed within the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11. The connecting tubular member 60 is installed to the first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and the second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57.
[0196] At least one resilient sealing member, such as an O-ring, may be disposed in a radial direction relative to one of the rotational central axes C1 between the first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and the connecting tubular member 60. Preferably, a plurality of resilient sealing members, such as an O-ring, may be disposed in a radial direction between the first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and the connecting tubular member 60.
[0197] At least one resilient sealing member, such as an O-ring, may be radially disposed between the second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 and the connecting tubular member 60. Preferably, a plurality of resilient sealing members, such as an O-ring, may be radially disposed between the second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 and the connecting tubular member 60.
[0198] Preferably, the connecting tubular member 60 is installed to the first axial inner end 55c and the second axial inner end 57c by a press-fit method. The connecting tubular member 60 can be fixed to the first axial inner end 55c and the second axial inner end 57c by adhesive.
[0199] The connecting tubular member 60 is formed in a tubular shape. Preferably, the connecting tubular member 60 is formed of a resin. The connecting tubular member 60 may also be formed of a metallic material.
[0200] The engagement portion of the first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a and one of the first hanger mounting portions 55a is indicated by a thick line in FIG4A. The first axial end 12a of the hanger component 11a and the first hanger mounting portion 55a engage with each other at the engagement portion in the same manner as in the above embodiment.
[0201] The engagement portion between the second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a and one of the second hanger mounting portions 57a is indicated by a thick line in FIG4A. The second axial end 12b of the hanger component 11a and the second hanger mounting portion 57a engage with each other at the engagement portion in the same manner as in the above embodiment.
[0202] [Variations of the Third Embodiment]
[0203] (C1) As a variation of the second embodiment, the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 can be configured as follows.
[0204] As shown in Figure 4B, the first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 has a first threaded portion 55e. The first threaded portion 55e is disposed on one of the inner peripheral surfaces of the first axial inner end 55c. The first threaded portion 55e is a female threaded component.
[0205] The second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 has a second threaded portion 57e. The second threaded portion 57e is configured to engage with the first threaded portion 55e of the first axial inner end 55c in the mounted state of the bicycle chassis assembly 53 mounted to the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0206] The second threaded portion 57e is disposed on the outer peripheral surface of one of the second axial inner ends 57c. The second threaded portion 57e is a male threaded component. The engagement portion of the first threaded portion 55e and the second threaded portion 57e is indicated by a thick line in FIG4B.
[0207] (C2) As a variation of the second embodiment, it can be the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 of (C2) shown in the following configuration diagram 4B.
[0208] The first axial inner end 55c of the first support member 55 and the second axial inner end 57c of the second support member 57 can overlap each other in a press-fit manner when the bicycle base bracket assembly 53 is installed on the hanger component 11a of the bicycle frame 11.
[0209] Specifically, the first axial inner end 55c and the second axial inner end 57c are positioned so that they face each other in the radial direction relative to the rotation center axis C1 of the bicycle chassis assembly 53. The first axial inner end 55c and the second axial inner end 57c overlap each other in a press-fit manner in the installed state without having the first threaded portion 55e and the second threaded portion 57e.
