Abstract

This invention provides a method for treating Ca-hard water that suppresses leakage of hardness components to the treated water side and allows for miniaturization of the packed tower. The method involves passing the Ca-hard water through a packed tower filled with cation exchangers to remove the Ca hardness. The Ca hardness in the water is characterized by being below 5 mg-CaCO₃ / L, and the space velocity (SV) of the Ca-hard water before it enters the packed tower is 100 to 300 h⁻¹.
