Description

Equipment and methods for filing tax returns on behalf of game players The present invention relates to the declaration of tax bills during game transactions. In high-stakes slot machine games, whenever a player hits a jackpot within a certain threshold, the machine must be stopped and the player must sign a tax return (document) to continue playing. This also determines the amount of the jackpot the player can receive at that time. After the player signs the tax return, an assistant resets the slot machine and the player resumes playing at the slot machine. It is contemplated that a system could automate the filing of tax returns. In these examples, before the player begins playing, the player authorizes the tax form (document) (e.g., signs their name). In some examples, authorization is required at several locations on the tax form. The player may sign several copies of the tax form in advance. Each signature signifies that one has acknowledged each taxable transaction that may subsequently occur on the slot machine. Thus, if a player hits a certain jackpot, they have already signed, and the assistant only needs to reset the slot machine. In this case, the player may hit a certain jackpot and not need to sign the tax form. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for filing a tax return on behalf of a game player is specifically proposed, the method comprising: receiving a request from the player to play the game on a gaming device; determining the identity of the player and the location of the gaming device; determining whether the player has an authorization data file; based on the location of the gaming device, determining at least one jurisdiction that manages the player's taxable income; requesting the player to fill out an electronic tax form for each jurisdiction; obtaining an electronic authorization from the player; determining that the player has a tax obligation based on the player's income; and in response to the tax obligation, transmitting the tax return to a remote device, wherein the tax return includes at least the electronic tax form and the electronic authorization, and wherein the remote device and a processor communicate electronically via a network. 1 , a gaming system 100 communicates with one or more player gaming devices 102 to 106. The gaming system 100 also communicates with one or more tax authorities 108 to 110, which manage tax obligations regarding any winnings earned by the player gaming devices 102 to 106. In one embodiment, the gaming system 100 includes a CPU 112, a memory device 114, a data storage device 116, and a locator device 118. In one embodiment, the locator device 118 can be used to track the location of the player devices 102 to 106 to determine the applicable tax jurisdiction. As shown in FIG2 , in another embodiment, data storage 120 is remote from gaming system 100. In another embodiment, gaming system 100 is located within each of the player's gaming devices 102 through 106. Gaming system 100 can be embedded in a wireless mobile device, such as a smartphone. Gaming system 100 can also be embedded in a wearable mobile device, such as a Google Watch. Gaming system 100 can also be voice activated by the player. In one embodiment, while sitting at a slot machine, a player can log in and enter a personal identification number (PIN) or some form of electronic signature. This PIN / signature can be the same as signing the player's name on the session slip. Furthermore, the player can indicate that they are providing their signature for a certain number of games. In another embodiment, the player can provide their signature for a specific duration. For example, if the player is in Las Vegas for a weekend bachelor party, they can specify that their signature is valid for any game played that weekend. The system can have a preset number for a certain number of games or a specific duration. In one embodiment, when a player plays a game and hits a taxable transaction, the slot machine automatically records the transaction using a personal identification number (PIN). For example, the PIN can be used to execute a tax bill. The slot machine then automatically files the tax bill on the player's behalf. The slot machine can also deduct the corresponding tax obligation from the player's winnings. The player does not need to stop playing. Once the player exceeds a certain number of games or a specific time period has passed, the system can prompt the player to reauthorize the tax bill. In one embodiment, a system receives a request from a player to play a game on a gaming device. The system determines the player's identity and the location of the gaming device. The system also determines whether the player has authorization data. Based on the location of the gaming device, the system determines at least one jurisdiction that regulates the player's taxable income. In one embodiment, the system requests the player to complete an electronic tax form for each jurisdiction. The system obtains electronic authorization from the player. The system determines that the player has tax obligations based on the player's earnings. In one embodiment, the system transmits a tax declaration to a remote device in response to a tax obligation. The tax declaration includes at least the electronic tax bill and an electronic authorization. In one embodiment, the system receives an indication that the electronic authorization is valid for a period of time. In one embodiment, the system receives an indication that the electronic authorization is valid for a plurality of games played by the player. In one embodiment, the system receives an indication from the player that the electronic authorization is valid for multiple tax returns. In one embodiment, the system receives an indication that the electronic authorization is valid up to a total tax liability amount, where the total tax liability amount is determined prior to receiving the request from the player. In one embodiment, the system receives an indication that an electronic authorization is valid for a game type. In one embodiment, the system generates an authorization data file for the player, wherein the authorization data file includes an electronic authorization for at least one jurisdiction. In one embodiment, the system obtains electronic authorization from the player by receiving an electronic signature. In another embodiment, the system obtains electronic authorization from the player by receiving biometric data from the player. In one embodiment, the system obtains electronic authorization from the player by performing a facial scan on the player. In one embodiment, the system obtains electronic authorization from the player by performing a fingerprint scan on the player. In one embodiment, the system requests the player to complete at least one tax form for each relevant jurisdiction. In one embodiment, the system monitors the game for the amount of player benefits. In one embodiment, the system determines whether the amount of player winnings exceeds a taxable threshold in at least one jurisdiction. In one embodiment, the taxable threshold varies depending on the jurisdiction. In one embodiment, the taxable threshold is an amount determined by the player's location. In one embodiment, the electronic tax return and electronic authorization are automatically transmitted without player input. In one embodiment, notification of the transmitted tax return is transmitted to the player. In one embodiment, the system awards the player a bonus that includes the player's winnings less tax obligations. In one embodiment, the system stores the player's winnings as points. In one embodiment, the points can be redeemed for future play. In another embodiment, the points can be converted to cash. In one embodiment, the system prints a receipt for the amount of the player's winnings that can be redeemed at a cashier's location. In one embodiment, a system receives a request from a player to modify an electronic authorization. Alternative Technologies: It should be understood that the techniques described herein for making, using, or practicing the various embodiments are only a subset of possible techniques that can be used for the same or similar purposes. The specific techniques described herein should not be construed as limiting. In fact, the various embodiments contemplate alternative techniques for making, using, or practicing the various embodiments. It will be readily apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art that the various procedures described herein can be implemented, for example, by appropriately programmed general-purpose computers, special-purpose computers, and computing devices. Typically, a processor (e.g., one or more microprocessors, one or more microcontrollers, one or more digital signal processors) receives instructions (e.g., from a memory, etc.) and executes the instructions, thereby performing one or more procedures defined by the instructions. The instructions may be embodied, for example, in one or more computer programs or one or more scripts. The term "computing" shall mean making decisions using a processor based on a software algorithm. "Processor" means one or more microprocessors, central processing units (CPUs), computing devices, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, graphics processing units (GPUs), or similar devices, or any combination thereof, regardless of architecture (e.g., chip-level multiprocessing or multi-core, RISC, CISC, microprocessor without interlocked pipeline stages, pipeline configuration, simultaneous multithreading, microprocessor with integrated graphics processing unit, GPGPU). "Computing device" means one or more microprocessors, central processing units (CPUs), computing devices, microcontrollers, digital signal processors, graphics cards, mobile gaming devices, or similar devices, or any combination thereof, regardless of architecture (e.g., chip-level multiprocessing or multi-core, RISC, CISC, microprocessors without interlocked pipeline stages, pipeline configuration, simultaneous multithreading). Therefore, the description of a program also serves to describe the apparatus for executing the program. The apparatus for executing the program may include, for example, a processor and input and output devices suitable for executing the program. For example, the description of the program includes a description of the processor and a memory device storing a program including instructions that, when executed by the processor, direct the processor to perform the method. An apparatus that executes a program may include a plurality of computing devices that work together to execute the program. Some computing devices may work together to execute steps of the program, may act on individual steps of the program, or may provide infrastructure services to other computing devices that facilitate the execution of the program. These computing devices may act under the instructions of a central authority. In another embodiment, these computing devices may act without the instructions of a central authority. Some examples of apparatus that may operate in some or all of these ways may include grid computer systems, cloud computer systems, peer computer systems, computer systems configured to provide software as a service, and the like. For example, the apparatus may include a computer system that performs most of the processing load on a remote server but outputs display information to a local user computer and receives user input information from a local user computer, such as a computer system running VMware software. Furthermore, programs (and other types of data) implementing these methods can be stored and transmitted in a variety of ways using a variety of media (e.g., computer-readable media). In some embodiments, hard-wired circuitry or customized hardware can be used in place of or in combination with some or all of the instructions of the programs that implement various embodiments. Thus, various combinations of hardware and software can be used instead of software alone. The term "computer-readable medium" refers to any medium, multiple media, or combination of different media that participate in providing data (e.g., instructions, data structures) readable by a computer, processor, or similar device. This media can take many forms, including but not limited to non-volatile media, volatile media, and transmission media. Non-volatile media include, for example, optical or magnetic disks and other permanent memory. Volatile media include dynamic random access memory (DRAM), which typically makes up main memory. Transmission media include coaxial cables, copper wire, and fiber optics, including wires such as those that couple to a system bus connected to a processor. Transmission media can include or convey acoustic waves, light waves, and electromagnetic emissions, such as those generated during radio frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) data communications. Common forms of computer-readable media include, for example, floppy disks, soft magnetic disks, hard disks, magnetic tape, any other magnetic media, CD-ROMs, DVDs, any other optical media, punch cards, paper tape, any other physical media with patterns of holes, RAM, PROM, EPROM, FLASH-EEPROM, any other memory chip or cartridge, a carrier wave as described below, or any other medium from which a computer can be read. The term "tangible computer-readable medium" refers to "computer-readable medium" including hardware components such as optical or magnetic discs. Various forms of computer-readable media may be involved in carrying data (e.g., instruction sequences) to the processor. For example, the data may be (i) transferred from RAM to the processor; (ii) carried via a wireless transmission medium; (iii) formatted and / or transmitted according to any of a number of formats, standards, or protocols, such as Ethernet (or IEEE 802.3), wireless local area network communications defined by the IEEE 802.11 specification (whether or not approved by the WiFi Alliance), SAP, ATP, Bluetooth™, and TCP / IP, TDMA, CDMA, and 3G; and / or (iv) encrypted to ensure privacy or prevent fraud in any of a variety of ways known in the art. The term "database" refers to any electronically stored collection of data in a retrievable format. The term "data structure" refers to a database within a hardware machine such as a computer. The term "network" means a series of points or nodes interconnected by communication paths. For example, a network may include a plurality of computers or communication devices interconnected by one or more wired and / or wireless communication paths. A network may be interconnected with other networks and contain subnetworks. The term "predetermined" means determined in advance (eg, before the current time or the current action). For example, the phrase "displaying a predetermined value" means displaying a value determined before the display action. The term "condition" means (1) a prerequisite upon which the performance of an agreement depends, or (2) something that essentially requires the occurrence or happening of some other thing. The term "transaction" means (1) an exchange or transfer of goods, services, or funds, or (2) an act of communication or activity involving two parties or things that affect or influence each other. Therefore, a description of a program is also a description of a computer-readable medium storing a program for executing the program. The computer-readable medium may store (in any suitable format) program elements suitable for executing the method. For example, a description of a program is a computer-readable storage medium storing a program including instructions that, when executed by a processor, direct the processor to execute the method. Just as the description of individual steps in a process does not indicate that all of the steps are required, embodiments of an apparatus include a computer or computing device operable to perform some, but not necessarily all, of the described processes. Likewise, just as the description of individual steps in a process does not indicate that all of the steps are required, embodiments of a computer-readable medium storing a program or data structure include a computer-readable storage medium storing a program that, when executed, causes a processor to perform some (but not necessarily all) of the described processes. When describing a database, one of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that (i) alternative database structures to those described can be readily employed, and (ii) other memory structures can be readily employed in addition to the database. Any illustration or description of any sample database presented herein is for illustrative configurations of storage representations of information. Any number of other configurations may be employed in addition to the configuration suggested by, for example, a diagram or table illustrated elsewhere. Similarly, any illustrated items of a database represent only exemplary information; one of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the number and content of such items may differ from the number and content described herein. Further, despite any description of a database as a table, other formats (including relational databases, object-based models, and / or distributed databases) may be used to store and manipulate the data types described herein. Similarly, the target methods or behaviors of the database may be used to implement various procedures such as those described herein. In addition, the database may be stored in a known manner locally or remotely from the device that accesses the data in the database. Various embodiments can be configured to operate in a network environment that includes a computer that communicates with one or more devices (e.g., via a communications network). The computer can communicate directly or indirectly with the devices via any wired or wireless media (e.g., the Internet, a LAN, WAN, or Ethernet, a token ring, a telephone line, a cable line, a radio channel, an optical communication line, a commercial online service provider, an electronic bulletin board system, a satellite communication link, or a combination of any of the foregoing). Each of the devices can itself include a computer or other computing device adapted to communicate with the computer, such as a computing device based on an Intel®, Pentium®, Centrino™, Atom™, or Core™ processor. Any number and type of devices can communicate with the computer. In some embodiments, a server computer or central authority is not necessarily required or desired. For example, in some embodiments, the present invention may be practiced on one or more devices without a central authority. In such embodiments, any functions described herein as being performed by a server computer or data described as being stored on a server computer may instead be performed by or stored on one or more such devices. When describing a program, in one embodiment, the program can be operated without any user intervention. In another embodiment, the program includes some human intervention (eg, the steps are performed by or with human assistance). As used herein, the term "encryption" refers to a process used to obfuscate or hide information so that it cannot be easily understood without special knowledge. An encryption process converts original information, called plaintext, into encrypted information. The encrypted information is called ciphertext, and the algorithm used to convert plaintext into ciphertext is called a cipher. A cipher can also be used to perform the reverse operation of converting ciphertext to plaintext. Examples of ciphers include substitution ciphers, transposition ciphers, and ciphers using rotary machines. In various encryption methods, a cipher requires a complementary piece of information called a key. A key may consist of, for example, a string of bits. A key can be used in conjunction with a cipher to encrypt plaintext. A key can also be used in conjunction with a cipher to decrypt ciphertext. In a type of cipher known as a symmetric key algorithm (e.g., private key cryptography), the same key is used for both encryption and decryption. The integrity of the encrypted information can therefore depend on the secrecy of the key. Examples of symmetric key algorithms are DES and AES. In a type of cipher known as an asymmetric key algorithm (e.g., public key cryptography), different keys are used for encryption and decryption. Using an asymmetric key algorithm, any public member can use a first key (e.g., a public key) to encrypt plaintext into ciphertext. However, only the owner of a second key (e.g., a private key) can decrypt the ciphertext back into plaintext. An example of an asymmetric key algorithm is the RSA algorithm. Alternative Technologies: It should be understood that the techniques described herein for making, using, or practicing the various embodiments are merely a subset of possible techniques that may be used for the same or similar purposes. The specific techniques described herein should not be construed as limiting. Indeed, the various embodiments contemplate alternative techniques for making, using, or practicing the various embodiments. The present method may be modified, added to, or omitted without departing from the scope of the present invention. The present method may include more, fewer, or additional steps. Furthermore, the steps may be performed in any appropriate order without departing from the scope of the present invention. Although the present invention has been described with respect to certain embodiments and generally associated methods, variations and substitutions of such embodiments and methods will be apparent to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the above description of exemplary embodiments does not restrict the present invention. Other changes, substitutions, and modifications are possible without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the claims herein.
