AI Technical Summary
Technical Problem
Existing optical modulators have large diameters, limiting the number of tests that can be performed and affecting the accuracy of optical parameter determination, which is crucial for high-speed data communication systems.
Method used
The use of a ring resonator with a bent waveguide and P/N junctions in optical modulators reduces the size and sensitivity to fiber Bragg grating coupling conditions, allowing for precise determination of parameters such as optical loss and refractive index.
Benefits of technology
This approach enables high-speed data communication with improved accuracy and reduced size, overcoming limitations of traditional modulators by enhancing the precision of parameter measurement.

Abstract
A method is provided for determining parameters of an optical device including a first waveguide and a resonator. The method includes coupling an optical signal from the first waveguide to the resonator. The resonator includes a first P / N junction and a ring waveguide, the first P / N junction being configured to modulate the resonant frequency of the resonator until the optical signal resonates in the resonator. The method further includes detecting the resonant spectrum of the optical signal from a through port of the first waveguide and determining the parameters of the optical device based on the resonant spectrum of the optical signal.
