Abstract

An electronic device and its control method are disclosed. The electronic device includes a game processing unit, a built-in USB device, a customized service unit, and an I2C haptic touchpad. The game processing unit executes a game application. The built-in USB device is connected to the game processing unit. The built-in USB device includes a descriptor and a USB controller. The descriptor declares that the built-in USB device has a vibration function. The USB controller receives a gaming event trigger command from the game processing unit and then issues a customized HID output report. The customized service unit receives the customized HID output report and then issues a standard HID output report. The I2C haptic touchpad receives the standard HID output report and then vibrates.

Claims

1. An electronic device comprising: A game processing unit for executing a game application; A built-in USB device is connected to the game processing unit. The built-in USB device includes: a descriptor for declaring that the built-in USB device has a vibration function; a USB controller for receiving a gaming event trigger command from the game processing unit and issuing a customized HID output report; a customized service unit for receiving the customized HID output report and issuing a standard HID output report; and an I2C haptic touchpad for receiving the standard HID output report and vibrating, wherein the descriptor is different from the XUSB descriptor.

2. The electronic device as described in claim 1, wherein the descriptor includes a Usage Page or an output format.

3. The electronic device as described in claim 1, wherein the customized HID output report includes a rumble level, a rumble duration, or a vibration type.

4. The electronic device as claimed in claim 3, wherein the vibration pattern includes continuous vibration, short vibration, low-frequency vibration, or pulsating vibration.

5. A method for controlling an electronic device, comprising: A USB controller of a built-in USB device receives a gaming event trigger command from a gaming processing unit. The built-in USB device includes a descriptor that declares that the built-in USB device has a vibration function. The USB controller of the built-in USB device sends a customized HID output report to a customized service unit. The customized service unit sends a standard HID output report to an I2C haptic touchpad. The I2C haptic touchpad vibrates according to the standard HID output report. The descriptor is different from the XUSB descriptor.

6. A method for controlling an electronic device as described in claim 5, wherein the descriptor includes a Usage Page or an output format.

7. The control method of the electronic device as described in claim 5, wherein the customized HID output report includes a rumble level, a rumble duration, or a vibration type.

8. The control method of the electronic device as claimed in claim 7, wherein the vibration pattern includes continuous vibration, short vibration, low-frequency vibration, or pulsating vibration.
