Abstract

A calibration method for an eye-tracking camera and a stereo display includes: providing a stereo display and an eye-tracking camera disposed on the stereo display; displaying a first calibration pattern on the stereo display; providing a calibrator and an external camera, wherein the calibrator has a second calibration pattern; capturing the second calibration pattern with the eye-tracking camera to obtain a first positional relationship between the second calibration pattern and the eye-tracking camera; capturing the second calibration pattern with the external camera to obtain a second positional relationship between the second calibration pattern and the external camera; calculating a third positional relationship between the eye-tracking camera and the external camera based on the first and second positional relationships; and capturing the first calibration pattern with the external camera.

Claims

1. A calibration method for an eye-tracking camera and a stereoscopic display, comprising: A stereoscopic display and an eye-tracking camera configured on the stereoscopic display are provided; a first correction pattern is displayed on the stereoscopic display; a corrector and an external camera are provided, wherein the corrector has a second correction pattern; the second correction pattern is captured by the eye-tracking camera to obtain a first positional relationship between the second correction pattern and the eye-tracking camera; the second correction pattern is captured by the external camera to obtain a second positional relationship between the second correction pattern and the external camera; a third positional relationship between the eye-tracking camera and the external camera is calculated based on the first and second positional relationships; the first correction pattern is captured by the external camera to obtain a fourth positional relationship between the external camera and the stereoscopic display. And a fifth positional relationship between the eye-tracking camera and the stereoscopic display is calculated using the third and fourth positional relationships.

2. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 1, wherein the eye-tracking camera and the external camera capture images of the same side of the calibrator.

3. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 1, wherein the eye-tracking camera and the external camera respectively capture images of opposite sides of the calibrator, the calibrator has a substrate, the substrate being a transparent substrate or an opaque substrate, the calibrator further having the second calibration pattern on the transparent substrate, or the calibrator having the second calibration pattern on both opposite sides of the opaque substrate.

4. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 1, wherein the calibrator is another stereoscopic display used to display the second calibration pattern.

5. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 1, wherein the first calibration pattern and the second calibration pattern are checkerboard patterns.

6. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 1, wherein the first positional relationship, the second positional relationship, the third positional relationship, the fourth positional relationship and the fifth positional relationship are expressed using rotation matrices and translation vectors.

7. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 1, wherein the stereoscopic display is a glasses-free stereoscopic display.

8. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 7, wherein the naked-eye stereoscopic display includes a plurality of sub-pixel groups and a columnar lens array respectively disposed on the sub-pixel groups.

9. The calibration method for an eye-tracking camera and a stereoscopic display as described in claim 1, wherein the stereoscopic display and the eye-tracking camera are integrated into an electronic device.

10. The eye-tracking camera and stereoscopic display calibration method as described in claim 9, wherein the electronic device is a laptop, mobile phone, tablet computer, or desktop computer.
