Abstract

This disclosure discloses a vehicle field-of-view compensation system with zoned light guiding and integrated display, used to compensate for driver field-of-view obstruction caused by vehicle structural components. The system includes at least one viewfinder module, at least one light guide module, and a display surface. The viewfinder module is positioned in the direction of obstruction by the vehicle structural components and includes multiple viewfinder openings with different tilt angles or viewing directions to segmentally acquire the field of view of the obstructed area at different heights or angles. The light guide module includes multiple elongated light guide channels, each corresponding to one of the viewfinder openings, guiding the acquired ambient light to the corresponding zone of the display surface. The display surface is a single, continuous display surface, with different zones receiving light from different viewfinder openings, allowing the driver to obtain a visually continuous and integrated real-world compensated image on the same display surface from the designed viewpoint, without the need to stitch together multiple windows or images for interpretation. The cross-sectional dimensions and placement of the light guide channel are designed with limitations to minimize the impact on the vehicle's structural strength. It can be positioned in low-stress areas of the structure or paired with reinforcing components, enabling the vision compensation function to be implemented without significantly reducing collision avoidance performance. In one embodiment, an auxiliary lighting module can be installed between the viewfinder opening and the display surface to enhance the visual contrast of the display surface when ambient light is insufficient. Furthermore, the display surface can have mechanisms for adjusting brightness, reflectivity, or transmittance to reduce glare when ambient light is excessively high. By sensing ambient light and adjusting the equivalent brightness of the display surface, the external scene presented on the display surface approximates the actual ambient light from the driver's perspective, thereby providing a stable and immediate vision compensation effect under daytime, nighttime, or backlighting conditions.

Claims

1. A vehicle field-of-view compensation system with zoned light guiding and integrated display, used to compensate for driver field-of-view obstruction caused by vehicle structural components, characterized in that it comprises: a viewfinder module including multiple viewfinder openings, the number of which is at least two, arranged along the height or angle direction, each viewfinder opening corresponding to a different segment of the obstructed field of view to obtain external light from the obstructed area; a display module including a single continuous display surface having multiple zones; and a light guiding module including multiple elongated light guiding channels, each light guiding channel corresponding to one of the viewfinder openings, and guiding the external light obtained from each viewfinder opening to the display module; wherein... Each partition of the display surface receives light from the corresponding light guide channel, so that the driver can obtain a visually continuous and integrated real-world compensation image of the outside world on the same display surface from the design viewpoint.

2. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The shape of the viewfinder opening is not limited to a circle, but can be polygonal, elongated, or other opening forms suitable for framing.

3. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The multiple viewfinder openings correspond to different height or angle segments outside the obstructed field of view, such as the upper, middle, and lower segments.

4. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The cross-sectional dimensions and configuration of the light guide channel are designed with constraints to reduce the impact on the structural strength of the vehicle.

5. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 4, wherein, The light guide channel is positioned in the low-stress area of the vehicle structural components, or avoids the main load transmission path.

6. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The display surface is positioned within the driver's field of vision inside the vehicle and is a single-piece structure, not composed of multiple independent display elements or windows.

7. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, An auxiliary lighting module is provided between the viewfinder module and the display module to improve the visual contrast of the display surface when the ambient light is insufficient.

8. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 7, wherein, The auxiliary lighting module includes light guides, optical fibers, or other lighting structures suitable for configuration in confined spaces.

9. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The display module has a brightness, reflectivity, or transmittance adjustment mechanism to reduce the equivalent brightness of the display surface when the ambient brightness is too high.

10. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 9, wherein, The display module adjusts its equivalent brightness according to the external brightness conditions, so that the external scene presented on the display surface is close to the actual external brightness from the driving perspective.

11. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The vehicle structural components include, for example, the side pillars of the windshield, door frames, or other structural components that obstruct the driver's view.

12. The vehicle visibility compensation system as described in claim 1, wherein, The viewfinder module may include a single viewfinder opening configured to correspond to a height segment or angle segment of the obstructed field of view, and the external light obtained by the viewfinder opening is guided by the light guide module to at least one section of the single continuous display surface to provide field of view compensation for the corresponding segment.
