Abstract

This invention relates to a plug connector, comprising an insulating body, a tongue plate fixed to the insulating body, and a locking mechanism located on the top of the insulating body. The tongue plate has a plurality of conductive terminals, and the locking mechanism includes a locking member and a pull strap. The locking member has a pull portion connected to the pull strap. The plug connector also has a protective cover assembled to the insulating body. The protective cover has a main body portion located on the upper side of the insulating body and a rear cover plate located on the rear side of the insulating body. The main body portion has a top cover plate that covers the pull portion from above and a pair of opposite side cover plates that cover the pull portion from both sides laterally. The rear cover plate has an opening for the pull strap to pass through rearward. This plug connector effectively prevents the locking member from being accidentally activated.

Claims

1. A plug connector comprising an insulating body, a tongue plate fixed to the insulating body, and a locking mechanism located on the top of the insulating body, the tongue plate having a plurality of conductive terminals, the locking mechanism comprising a locking member and a pull strap, the locking member having a pull portion connected to the pull strap; wherein the plug connector further comprises a protective cover assembled to the insulating body, the protective cover having a main body portion located on the upper side of the insulating body and a rear cover plate located on the rear side of the insulating body, the main body portion having a top cover plate covering the pull portion from above and a pair of opposite side cover plates covering the pull portion from both sides laterally, the rear cover plate having an opening for the pull strap to pass through rearward.

The plug connector as described in claim 1, wherein the aforementioned main body portion further comprises a first connecting plate located on its rear side and connecting the aforementioned top cover plate and side cover plate, the aforementioned first connecting plate being located on the front side of the aforementioned rear cover plate and having a relief groove formed by recessing upward from its bottom end, the aforementioned pull strap extending rearward from the aforementioned relief groove.

The plug connector as described in claim 2, wherein the aforementioned protective cover further comprises a second connecting plate connecting the aforementioned first connecting plate and the aforementioned rear cover plate, the aforementioned second connecting plate being disposed lower than the aforementioned top cover plate in the height direction.

The plug connector as described in claim 2, wherein the aforementioned insulating body has a pair of stop portions protruding on its upper side to stop the aforementioned locking member from moving upward, and the aforementioned side cover plate has a first protrusion extending forward into the lower side of the aforementioned stop portions.

The plug connector as described in claim 4, wherein the aforementioned insulating body further has a receiving groove formed by recessing from back to front, and the aforementioned rear cover plate has a second protrusion extending forward into the aforementioned receiving groove, the aforementioned second protrusion being located on both sides of the aforementioned opening in the lateral direction.

The plug connector as described in claim 5, wherein the aforementioned insulating body includes a first body and a second body, the aforementioned stop portion is disposed on the aforementioned first body, the aforementioned receiving groove is disposed on the aforementioned second body, the aforementioned second body has a through groove that passes through it in the front-back direction, and the aforementioned pull strap passes through the aforementioned clearance groove and then through the aforementioned through groove into the aforementioned opening.

The plug connector as described in claim 6, wherein the aforementioned locking member has a fixing portion fixed to the aforementioned first body and an elastic portion formed by bending backward from the front end of the fixing portion, the aforementioned elastic portion has a locking protrusion for locking with the mating socket connector, the aforementioned elastic portion has limiting portions located on both sides of its lateral side, the aforementioned limiting portions extending into the lower side of the aforementioned stop portion to be limited thereto.

The plug connector as described in claim 7, wherein the first body has a first mounting space recessed on its top, the fixing part is received in the first mounting space, the second body has a second mounting space recessed on its top, the first mounting space and the second mounting space are connected front to back to form a mounting space, and the side cover is received in the mounting space.

The plug connector as described in claim 8, wherein the second body further has an extension extending rearward from its middle portion in the lateral direction, the second mounting space extends rearward to the front end face of the extension, and the rear end of the first connecting plate stops at the front side of the front end face of the extension.

The plug connector as described in claim 9, wherein the aforementioned protective cover further comprises a second connecting plate connecting the aforementioned first connecting plate and the aforementioned rear cover plate, the aforementioned extension has an upwardly protruding upper protrusion, the aforementioned second connecting plate is located directly above the aforementioned upper protrusion, and the aforementioned upper protrusion protrudes upward between the aforementioned first connecting plate and the rear cover plate.
