Abstract

This invention discloses a golf ball with a dotted pattern, comprising a sphere and an outer covering layer. The outer covering layer covers the sphere and is formed of a covering material. The covering material comprises a metal ion-neutralized ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer and pigments, and the outer covering layer has a dotted pattern formed by the pigments. Therefore, it can both enhance the aesthetic appearance of the ball and improve its performance.

Claims

1. A golf ball with a dotted pattern, comprising a ball and an outer cover layer covering the ball, the outer cover layer being formed of a covering material, wherein the covering material comprises a metal ion-neutralized ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer and pigments, and the outer cover layer having a dotted pattern formed by the pigments.

2. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 1, wherein, The sphere has a multi-layered structure.

3. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 2, wherein, The multi-layer structure includes a sphere and at least one inner covering layer covering the sphere, wherein the at least one inner covering layer is located between the sphere and the outer covering layer.

4. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 3, wherein, The at least one inner cover layer is formed by injection molding, compression molding or coating.

5. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 4, wherein, The material of the at least one inner covering layer may be an ionomer resin or a thermoplastic elastomer.

6. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 1, wherein, The steps of forming the outer cover layer include: melting and mixing the covering material to form a melt having a melt flow index in the range of 1 g / 10 min to 150 g / 10 min according to ASTM D1238; injecting the melt into a molding die for preforming; and then forming the resulting preform into the outer cover layer under hot pressing conditions.

7. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 6, wherein, The molding die includes at least one cavity, and the particle size of the color powder is smaller than the width of an inlet of the at least one cavity.

8. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 6, wherein, The preforming is carried out at 100°C to 130°C.

9. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 6, wherein, The hot pressing conditions include: a hot pressing temperature of 140°C to 170°C; a hot pressing pressure of 2 MPa to 10 MPa; and a hot pressing time of 0.5 minutes to 60 minutes.

10. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 6, wherein, The coating material is melt-mixed in a single-screw or twin-screw extruder to form the melt.

11. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 1, wherein, 10% to 80% of the carboxylic acid groups in the ethylene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer are neutralized by the metal ions.

12. A golf ball with a dotted pattern as described in claim 11, wherein, The metal ion is selected from sodium ion, lithium ion, zinc ion or magnesium ion.
